OH EM GEE..gorgeous! I’ll take one of everything, if it doesn’t look good on me, I’ll hang it on the wall as art.

    • valerie saenz

      LOL @ “wall art”. True.

    • Lily-Rygh

Right? I would absolutely wear at least half of these looks, and I covet another 25% that I only wouldn’t wear because they would look like ass on me. Yummy!

  • I’ll take one of everything, please.

  • Not original or ground-breaking, but so very pretty! I feel like the sheers over granny pants looks were a bit awkward – a nod to a trend that he’s not really down with, though.

    • Feels like he went through the archives, changed up the fabrics, played with hemlines and removed some linings to go along with the sheer trend. Nothing much here that’s new to anyone with some age on them.

  • Lilyana_F

Nope, doesn’t get much better than this here when it comes to classic style and beauty.

  • flamingoNW

Started off dull and disappointed but wow, some great dresses at the end. LOVED the tiered dresses. Trying to figure out who I want to see in them. Nicole? Who else?

    • RedRaven617

      The FLOTUS of course.

  • kirkyo

    It gets better (…and better).

  • hughman

Personally I like a Samantha or even a Carrie but if you’re a Charlotte this is the way to go.

  • marlie

Elegant, classy, classic ladylike perfection. I love it ALL.

Nicole Kidman is going to be the first ladystar to show up on the red carpet from something in this collection.

    • ccinnc

I was envisioning her face/hair/body as I scrolled down. Mostly great colors for her too.

  • Latin Buddy

FINALLY some no, non-sense, classic elegance

  • oklund

I was loving it, until… Who gave them my grandmother’s French tablecloths? The dresses at the end made up for that, though.

    • DuBey2

Do you mean that blue bohemian knee length skirt? folk-art look IMHO.

      • Guest

It’s the polka dotted flower fabrics, and the white lace dress that didn’t really work for me. The purely botanical patterns were gorgeous, though.

  • RussellH88

If I actually wore women’s clothes, I’d be selling it on the street to afford these outfits. Gorgeous.

  • MoHub

Very pretty, but I’m seeing three different collections here.

    • alyce1213

The peasant outfits really threw me.

    • kirkyo

Oh, I just thought it was a beginning, middle and ending 😉

    • Shoulda scrolled before I left a comment. Three collections with fairly different inspirations.

  • FLOTUS dresses!

    • Kimberly Wilcox

Its true, quite a few of these would be great on her!

    • Jennifer McGuire

I thought exactly the same thing.

    • Kristin McNamara

I’m seeing lots of TSwift potentials…

    • demidaemon

He wishes. Oscar has a hard on for dressing First Ladies, but I don’t think the current FLOTUS has worn any of his work yet.

  • Kimberly Wilcox

We can always count on Oscar de la renta to deliver consistently good collections. Even if there are a few different points of view here.

  • Meg0GayGuys6

This is so beautiful! I wish I lived a life which allowed me to wear such things. First two I’d grab: the giant flower dress, and the floral/black dot print dress. Alas, my life sitting behind a desk in a cubicle, making barely enough to cover the mortgage, does not allow for such things. Oh but there’s the dream…

Oh and the model fourth from the bottom is missing a leg.

  • HM3

COLOR! Thank Jesus. These are beautiful, feminine, and VIBRANT.

    • Aurumgirl

Exactly–the blues, yellows, tangerines–they’re saturated, where almost ever other designer’s shown the most washed out pastels and neutrals made paler by being sheer. And the embroidery is fantastic.

    • kathrineb

Yes I love a designer who is not afraid of colour!

  • Jacquelyn

    So. Many. Pretties.

I think I said “want” to just about everything. Especially that yellow dress and the coats!

    • 3boysful

Agreed. I will take the floral coat, the blue houndstooth and floral shift, and the gold cocktail dress about halfway thru. Oh, yes, and someplace to wear them all.

  • Fanny_Trollope

Those coats! I love them! That floral day dress with the polka dot background! Yes! In other news, I guess lace isn’t going away.

  • Erica_Vuitton

Le sigh… I want to live in that world.

  • So very Miss Lady in the best possible way. The coat dresses gave me an absolutely visceral longing for cold weather.

    • PastryGoddess

      Yes! Miss Lady indeed

  • VioletFem

I’m drooling over this collection. So much beauty and elegance!

  • KT

Did oscar de la renta just get whiteboarded? Burn

  • Ryan Anthony Rogers

The pieces that aren’t completely uninspired look like the Target versions of D&G’s Winter 2014 and everything Prada did last year, except sadder.

  • Am I the only person of the opinion that this is lacking cohesion? Most of it is very beautiful, obviously. But I’m getting multiple decades, multiple ideal wearers and just a general sense of mish mashery. Not a complaint, just my general take away.

    • MilaXX

I thought the beginning pieces were a bit out of place.

      • formerlyAnon

Those were some of my favorites. And they did seem to come from a different place than much of the rest of the collection. Of course, I felt like this collection came from 3 or possibly 4 different places. But I can’t claim the expertise to really make that call.

    • filmcricket

I think it’s possible there was a weekend marathon of Mad Men leading up to this. Feels a bit more cohesive when I think of it that way.

    • demidaemon

Yes. I also have other issues with it that I detailed below. Unlike everyone else here, I was not blown away. Give me Herrara over de la Renta any day for pure pretty.

      • formerlyAnon

Herrera usually strikes me as feminine in a much cleaner way than is de la Renta. Less fuss and fewer things that I view as “girly.” Which is why I prefer Herrera.

        • demidaemon

I totally agree. I also am scared to spell her name wrong, which I seemed to accomplish. Go me!

  • Florence Whytingale

    OY! GIMME.

  • Nancer

Wow. Just wow. Love, love, love.

  • anotherkate

I want: A. All those coats, and B. for women to start draping long strands of pearls over their red carpet gowns. SO effortlessly glamorous.

  • CeeQ

    Fucking gorgeous.

  • CatherineRhodes

I like a lot of the pieces.

What I find odd is that there is no consistent design motif whatsoever within the collection. He runs the style gamut from 1940’s inspired suits to flamenco dancer costumes.

  • MilaXX

I was worried for a minute. Until it got to the first floral piece, I was a bit bored, but I guess Oscar was just warming up.From that point on I love the collection. The first I’m gonna say third of the collection was fine, but fairly standard.

  • TigerLaverada

Looks like the inspiration was the late 1940s, all of the 50s, the first half of the 60s, the hippie peasant wear trends of the early 70s, and flamenco dancers.

    • Anplica Fiore

Yeah – looks like 4-5 different collections to me. Lovely collection but not unified by any means.

  • filmcricket

I love about 75% of this? The colours are fantastic.

  • Imasewsure

Can beautiful clothes be stodgy? Most of the gowns are gorgeous but the rest of the collection just looks old to me

  • kipper

Hmmmm…. After seeing Carolina Herrera, Thom Brown , R. Rucci and Donna K – Oscar did not know it was bring your A game fashion week !

  • quiltrx

Had I the body and the means, I would want EVERY black and white piece, and probably 3/4 of the other stuff. That polka-dotted floral fabric is gorgeous. VERY beautiful collection!

  • Linda LaPaz

So much pretty! I can see the ladystars fighting over the last gown and the tangerine ruffley one.

  • jen

Swoon! Fabulous, all of it!! Damn!

  • crash1212

Gorgeous. I’m a sucker for black and white, so this collection is right up my alley – but love his colors too. Well, I could do without the lime green. That floral/dot combo is giving me life.

  • Sunraya

This is all over the place. Sophisticated black and white, and then…those colored dresses? Huh? Sme pieces are gorgeous and I LOL’d at others.

  • CommentsByKatie

LOOOOOOOOOOOVE the teal embroidered flare dress!! Like seriously that is one of my favorite dresses ever. Ugh. I might have to try to track that down…

  • Cate

Very, very pretty! I especially love the intricately flowered ones (looks like embroidery?)…the yellow dress with pale pink flowers and the sky blue dress with the multi-colored flowers and plants right after it. Reminds me of old illuminated manuscripts. Classic and nostalgic with a hint of fairytale.

  • conniemd

Others have echoed my thoughts 1. mostly completely gorgeous and wearable. 2). not a collection as it seems to have lots of inspirations 3) not ground-breaking or original. All that said, I expect to see many on the red carpet and several I would kill to wear myself. Oh what I’d give to be wealthy and live in the Hamptons so I’d have the money to wear these dresses and something to wear them to. I can see Emily/Amanda in Revenge in several of these dresses.

Wow~ you received an invitation. I read in the Daily Mail: “The 81-year-old fashion mogul told WWD that he is sick and tired of the ‘huge crowds of people’ who pile into shows, ‘with no direct connection to the clothes.’As a result, for his September 10 show at his midtown Manhattan showroom, he will only be allowing 350 invitees with a ‘legitimate professional purpose’ to enter. “

  • No one does pretty like ODLR. Aside from the hiddy peach satin skirt and the tangerine dress that doesn’t belong, it’s a lovely collection. I hope we see some of the more brightly colored pieces on the awards season red carpets.

  • Trickytrisha

I don’t know how to start. Everyfrickingthing is so incredible (except one) that it’s hard to take it all in. My only exception is the blue and white Heidi (book, not PR) dress, 9th down from the top – I wish these were numbered, it would make it so much easier to reference a particular look.

I’m gonna go quietly sob for a while. A good cry, ’cause such beautiful things make me all verklempt.

  • Jacob Bowen

I LOVE these 3 collections (because let’s face it, it’s not supremely cohesive, but WHO CARES). The 10th outfit, the first blue dress with 3 different prints, is AMAZING!

  • LesYeuxHiboux

Oh, Oscar. You always know just what a girl wants. The theatrically pretty bent of the whole collection is making me swoon.

  • Aaminah Khan

Some things are constant: water is wet, the Pope is Catholic, and Oscar de la Renta makes gorgeous, elegant, feminine clothes that are timeless and ridiculously covetable.

  • demidaemon

There sure seems to be a lot of tweed here for a spring collection. And I can say that I heavily dislike 90% of the gowns. They either look poorly executed, have a weird ass rounded mullet hem, or are entirely too fussy and foofy.

  • formerlyAnon

Some very nice stuff. Also the usual moments of ultra femininity. It may be me, but there seems a lot of . . . variety in this collection. I like the shapes of some of the day dresses very much, mostly dislike the lace & crocheted tablecloth looking fabrics, and am partial to much of the stuff shown in black & white.

  • Alloy Jane

I love everything that doesn’t look like it could be a toilet paper roll coverup.

  • Meredith

His colorful stuff is stunning. The black and white garments not so much.

  • bertkeeter

    Same ole same!

  • Jessica Freeman

I’ve pretty much declared should I ever be rich enough I will head straight out to buy all the Oscar de la Renta clothes.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Some of this is the same stuff he’s been doing for the last 50 years, but who the fuck cares? The man knows how to make a woman look beautiful. I love you, Oscar…and I always will.

  • Rebecca Clifford

That aquamarine dress is lovely. I always love me some good Oscar. He’s very ladies-who-lunch, but I love it. I see a real cross-over of early fifties and mid to late 60s here.

  • Katie

Love the New Look inspired dresses.

  • AmeliaEve

Bless you, Oscar, for making dresses that are shaped like women. The gorgeous fabrics and classic detailing are a nice bonus too. And the gloves are just too sweet.

  • kathrineb

Some of these gave me heart palpitations! Gorgeous

The top few will be on wealthy lady executives in many boardrooms. Power dressing to the max!
