Olivia Wilde in Antonio Berardi at IMDb Event

Posted on September 11, 2013

Here it is. The perfect Olivia Wilde dress.

Olivia Wilde receives IMDb’s First-Ever ‘STARmeter Award’ during the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival in an Antonio Berardi dress paired with Stuart Weitzman sandals and bracelets by Shopbevel.

Antonio Berardi Resort 2014 Collection

With the piercing eyes, angular face, and tall, slim bod, what she needs out of her dresses to get the most impact from them is something fitted that skims her body, something brightly colored to set off her own coloring, and something with some visual interest to play around with and respond to her own natural angularity. It’s like this dress was made just for her. Girl, that’s your dress. You should get fifteen of them in various colors.

Generally speaking, award trophies should not be invisible. We’re old-fashioned that way.

I LOVE this dress…just wish it weren’t against a white backdrop.

      • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

I would ALWAYS wear it against a white backdrop and take advantage of the illusion of hourglass shape! Which of course Olivia doesn’t need.

        • http://completeflake.com/ LaVonne Ellis

I would have my minions carry a white background behind me, everywhere.

    • charlotte

“You should get fifteen of them in various colors”- Start with green because that looks best on you.

    • Anplica Fiore

Love the dress & the whole look! She looks amazing. Too bad I can’t say the same for the award trophy.

    • Tatiana Luján

      WERQ!

    • Megan Kennedy

How is this not a WERQ??

      • kimmeister

        Because of the naked shoes?

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

She stuck the landing, but it other than the dismount, it was a relatively easy routine. There is a lack of outstanding accessorizing and styling. And naked shoes.

        • Alloy Jane

But I love naked shoes. And she’s not falling out of them. Hair/Makeup are great, killer dress, jewelry and shoes that do not compete with killer dress, it’s WERQ for me.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

And it fits to perfection! Bravo to her stylist.

    • Emily Smith

Wow that dress confuses me eyes. Which is what I think it’s intention was.

    • dharmabum8

That might be the most slimming optical illusion I’ve ever seen.

      • Mrs. Julien

That is my favourite sentence in the past 23 months.

      • Kristin McNamara

Which means I need to get myself one like, yesterday.

      • Heather

Indeed, against the white background, it appears that she is missing a few ribs.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Uncles, I love that you have a personal stance on the appearance of awards.

      • formerlyAnon

I feel we share an outlook, in a scary way. That was the thing I felt most moved to comment on also.

    • altissima

Amazing optical illusion! *I* need this dress in 15 colours!

      • oohsparkley!

I want one or more with the black and white reversed. I think that would be even more slimming.

    • Jessica Freeman

The dress is spot on. I kinda wished the hair was pulled back.

    • alyce1213

This is a WERQ for me. She looks gorgeous.

    • Danielle

      Personal best!

    • Kimberly Wilcox

I LOVE this dress, and I LOVE it on her! Amazing.

    • MilaXX

The dress is perfect for her but someone also got it spot on with hair and makeup. I think often they try to hard to play up her eyes and it works against her. She’s young enough that a light touch allows her natural beauty to shine through.

    • ThaliaMenninger

I feel like a need a PhD in physics to read this dress.

    • SugarSnap108

Wow, did this freak me out at first glance. With the backdrop, I thought her waistline started at the black part of the dress.

But yeah, heinous backdrop aside, this is perf.

      • conniemd

        It freaked me out too.

    • decormaven

      Personal best for her. Snaps!

    • Diego!

I love the dress and it suits her like a glove. You WERQ that amazing look Olivia! :)

    • ballerinawithagun

Escher magically transforms from dorm poster to designer dress.

      • zenobar

Fun fact: If you stare at it long enough, a couple of frolicking dolphins appear.

        • Kristin McNamara

I hope at least one person reading your comment attempted to look for the dolphins.

    • mmebam

      Very nice!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1180174329 Elizabeth Phillips

      Agree with every word!

    • marlie

This dress is gorgeous on her; she looks simply STUNNING. Brava!

    • Jacquelyn

      She looks fantastic!

    • CPK1

My thoughts exactly on the trophy. I love the dress now that I know a huge black star on one nipple was not part of the original design

    • formerlyAnon

“Generally speaking, award trophies should not be invisible. We’re old-fashioned that way.”

      Bless. You guys are treasures.

    • Imasewsure

She looks good of course but I don’t really love the dress…It just seems ok to me and not much more. Hair and makeup are lackluster (for her) but again, she looks beautiful as always.

    • meowing

Damn, put some sleeves on that dress, and I’ll wear it everyday, but only against white backgrounds. Looks like a 2″ waist!

    • Lilyana_F

Is it just me, or the way the pattern on the dress is cut makes her head look huge and disproportionate? I am not hating, my eyes went directly at it and I cannot unsee now..

    • Mrs. Julien

      So, a WERQ? It’s totally a WERQ.

    • dalgirl

      Fabulous.

    • Jessica O’Connell

Now that she’s worn the blue version and is about to get various other colors….could she please send this one to me? I’ll make it fit!

    • steeg of their own

The perfect Olivia Wilde dress is one that makes her look even more like a bobblehead than she did before? No.

I like the pattern and I love the blue, but this dress makes her look ridiculous. Come back when she doesn’t look like a barbie doll that melted in a hot car, then we’ll talk.

    • elemspbee

What a terrific dress. So smart. I love the optical illusion, like the trophy.

    • PeggyOC

It needs a little Qbert pin.

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Great dress, metallic shoes would have raised it to perfection.

    • steeg of their own

The perfect dress for Olivia Wilde is one that makes her look even more like a bobblehead than she already did? No.

I like the pattern and I love the blue color, but I don’t think this dress is a good look on her. Even super-thin actresses should look like they have SOME sort of waist. This one just makes her look odder than she needs to.

      • VioletFem

I completely agree. Maybe if she wasn’t against a white background it would look a little bit better, but overall I found the pattern on this dress too jarring for some one built like Olivia.

      • Trickytrisha

I’ve been trying to figure out the whole bobblehead thing. Quite a few celebs seem to fall victim to the phenomenon. With some, their heads just look too large for their slender bodies. Here it looks here like her whole jawline and chin create a shadow underneath making her head look separated from her neck.

Anyway, I agree that the dress isn’t the greatest.

    • CeeQ

Gorgeous dress even if her hips did seem like it was disappearing into the background at first glance =D
      Love the print.

    • Rebecca Jay

I gasped audibly. Crisp, clean, stunning .. head to toe, inside and out.

    • E. D.

      WERQ.

    • amy_raks

Okay, fellow children of the 80’s, are you seeing the video game “Q-Bert” here, too?

      • Molly

first thing I thought. I loved Qbert!!

    • bassfemme

The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys is one of my favorite album covers.

      • formerlyAnon

Aaaannd I’ve gotta go dig for that one in my aged CD collection which augments the vinyl I no longer have a turntable for. That was one of the first songs I thought “god that’s sexy” about, I think.

        God I’m old.

ETA: and yes, I know I could just download it from iTunes or somewhere. But I’m so old that’s not my go-to response.

    • joything

Who needs a corset when you’ve got color blocking?

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

Wow! Is it ever! I want that dress too!

    • appliquer

The best I’ve ever seen her. And her hair looks so much better!

    • Jacob Bowen

I almost freaked out thinking she lost half a person. This dress is GENIUS against a white backdrop. Holy cow.

    • Heather

Unrelated to fashion, but why is she getting an award from IMDB?

    • chylde

LOVE this dress. The color, the textile pattern. Outstanding design!

    • Lilak

Isn’t it amazing how one little ol’ dress can get all the elements of a person’s looks to snap to attention?

    • Fred Vaughn

      On point.

    • HM3

I agree that fitted pieces are her thing, but I personally have a distaste for the VERY obvious “fake figure illusion” dress. The background isn’t helping (though I concede she probably didn’t know it’d be white). Doesn’t do it for me.

    • littlemac8

The boys have gotten very stingy with their WERQs lately! Maybe after Fashion Week is over??

    • kathrineb

Awesome. I tend to really like how she dresses!
