Nicole Kidman in Saint Laurent at the Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis Ceremony

Posted on September 25, 2013

Miss Nikki got her sassypants on and we’re loving it.

Nicole Kidman attends the Qingdao Oriental Movie Metropolis Of Wanda Group Opening Ceremony in Qingdao, China in a Saint Laurent look paired with Jimmy Choo sandals. on September 22, 2013.

Her face is so tight that maybe wearing the hair up should be off the menu for now, but everything else about this look is kickass.  The jacket looks like it might be a skosh small, but the killer shoes make up for it.

Nicole loves her some Botox. Can’t hate though, this is cute.

  • Tanzina Ahmed

Dear god, why does she keep doing that to her face? She’s so naturally beautiful and looked so amazing during her pregnancy, when she took a botox break. Can’t someone slap the needles out of her doctor’s hands?!

Other than that, her outfit gives me life. But that’s a *big* other than that!

  • RussellH88

She looks so much better when she can actually emote, I don’t know why she’s so intent on turning herself into a wax figure.

    But her outfit is nice.

    • MoHub

Maybe she’s trying to relive Stepford Wives. It’s a real shame, though, because if she’d leave her face alone and dress just a tad more consistently, she could be in Swinton/Blanchett/Mirren territory.

      • RussellH88

I wish people would realize that aging gracefully gives someone beauty on their own. I’m not saying that getting work done is awful or anything, but restraint almost always seems to look better than going overboard. Look at Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, she looks absolutely amazing.

        • 3boysful

Feel the same. I get wanting to be your best “you,” but when people go so overboard–Hello, Housewives of You-Name-It!–and you can’t tell how old they are but they look weird and strangely all alike, it’s not so good.

          • demidaemon

Did anyone else see what happens during a tummy tuck on RHONJ? If that doesn’t turn you off of plastic surgery, nothing will.

      • berkeleygirl

It’s too late to be like Swinton/Blanchett. Like Streep, they’re testaments to a mix of divine genes, impeccable skin care, and no cosmetic work. Mirren’s her best hope – Queen Helen’s certainly avoided the knife, but she’s just let the wrinkles come in. That Nicole should do – and stat… She clearly is happier than ever – what’s the big deal? It will humanize her.

        • Magatha

I agree, although don’t you think that both Streep and Mirren have had some work done? Maybe like chemical peels or laser resurfacing, maybe even some discreet work on their necks? I mean, their faces and bodies – it’s their job. They’re different from most of us who don’t have to worry about hi-def close-ups. It’s just that Mirren and Streep, if they’ve had any procedures, are using them like you use make-up, which is to enhance, not shape-shift.

It’s possible that I’m being a little defensive. It’s just that I am in their age range and I don’t see how either of them avoided those teenage years of relentless sun-bathing. That nonsense takes its toll. I see little kids today with their sunhats and I think they are all going to be way prettier than I am when they get older.

I thought it was so bizarre that she was representing Jimmy Choo when she always chose such matronly 2 inch heels around her tiny husband. Maybe all she needed was an excuse to say sorry honey, I’m busting out the heels.

      • marlie

She should! Also, I’m taller than my BF, but he thinks it’s really hot when I bust out the heels. The higher, the better.

  • Diego!

She just can’t get rid of botox, but she looks stunning here!

  • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

Well, she loves her some Botox, maybe too much, but there are worse ways to look when you have tons of chemicals on your face.

Besides, she looks sharp and fierce, even though I hate her as a blonde.

    • teensmom99

I also miss the curly hair. I think natural with hair and face would be best.

  • teensmom99

    Yup on every count.

  • alyce1213

Yay PANTS! Gorgeous Movie Star with million dollar smile, botox or not.

  • JimMcC

I’ve noticed that I’m automatically more inclined to like what someone is wearing if they look genuinely happy as she does here. But she could be scowling at a fan and throwing a chair at an assistant, and I still wouldn’t be able to deny that those shoes are made of wow.

    • Tamara Hogan

–> those shoes are made of wow.

      And? Made of OW.

    • marlie

That’s an interesting way of looking at things. Maybe that has something to with how I almost always HATE what Zosia Mamet is wearing, because it’s always accessorized by a scowl or angry-face. She always looks miserable, and by extension makes me miserable just to look at her.

      • Imasewsure

I think it’s just because everything she wears is hideous but the scowl doesn’t help either

        • Heh. Also not helping? Ms. Mamet just doesn’t wear clothes all that well. She could wear the most stunning dress available and it wouldn’t look great. She impresses me as someone who doesn’t care about fashion.

  • valerie747

Tall woman. Tall hair. Really tall shoes. Shorter other people. Awesome decision! This totally “elevates” her look! 🙂

    • valerie747

I really “look up” to Nicole.

  • MilaXX

She looks cute here. Quibbles noted, but the overall appearance is pretty good.

  • kimmeister

At first I thought TLo was referring to her wearing her face up until I realized the word “hair” was missing. Still, the idea is hilarious since they are called face “lifts” after all.

J’adore the shoes, and the texture on the jacket, but I can’t sign off on the sheer blouse.

  • decormaven

Whoa, those are some serious heels!

  • Constant Reader

I WANT THOSE SHOES. Oh, and feet that could stand to be in them for more than 10 minutes.

  • Jaeda Laurez

I LOVE those shoes. I haz a small sad because I liked the last version of her face; I thought it settled in quite nicely. Remember the Jimmy Choo shoot?

    • Spicytomato1

Is that the one with the fierce red bob hairstyle? Then oh, yes, I remember. Because that is the ‘do she should be sporting here. Everywhere, really.

      • makeityourself

        But that’s a wig.

        • Spicytomato1

I’m not sure I follow. So then she shouldn’t wear her hair like that just because it’s a wig? I’d think if a wig looked better than my actual hair, I’d reconsider my actual hairstyle.

  • Pennymac

I think this whole outfit is exceptionally awesome.
Her shellacked hair matches her face, and gives me just a little of the creeps. It reminds me of that terrible “Death Becomes Her” movie; is she air-brush/sand-blasting her own face? What doctor would sign off on this?

    • PastryGoddess

Death Becomes her is a fantastic movie. Especially when you watch it drunk and/or high.

Not that I would know anything about that

      • demidaemon

        I know. Blasphemy, Pennymac, blasphemy!

  • Candigirl1968

Not sure I’m feeling the sheer top (scratch that – definitely not loving it), but loving everything else.

  • marlie

Must. Have. Those. Shoes. Also, she looks great, head to toe (including the face; that’s never going to change).

  • GillianHolroyd

For those who are wondering what this pole dance is about:

“When completed in 2017, the Oriental Movie Metropolis will boast 20 sound stages, including the world’s first underwater studio, a massive convention and exhibition complex, a sprawling shopping mall with an indoor amusement park and seven resort hotels. The project also will include a yacht club with 300 berths.”

    • Imasewsure

Glad they didn’t forget the yacht club… we were sorely missing enough yacht club/indoor-underwater-metropolis combos to sustain our needs

    • NoveltyRocker

The news of these plans sort of creeped me out. I’m not sure how they’ll run their contracts but at this point it sounds like they’re aiming for almost the old Hollywood system of having actors signed up under a single studio for a set number of pictures. I know some deals still work that way today but actors have a lot more freedom to negotiate which pictures they do and can move around and work with different groups. It all just sounds very conveyer belt movie-making.

  • bravobravp

In the overabundance of red carpet gowns its kind of refreshing to see a fierce suit.

  • LaSylphide

Classic outfit and I LOVE those shoes!

  • frannyprof

She always looks better and happier when she’s not dragging her man-boy of a husband around.

  • Nothing says, my movie sucks, quite like an Oscar winning movie star desperately selling the love me vibe with the professional levels of excellence as seen above.

    • PastryGoddess

She’s not pole dancing for her movie yet. They’ve moved it into 2014 since there was no way she was going to win against Meryl, Sandy, or Cate. However, she is probably pole dancing for money to finance her next movie.

      • OrigamiRose

I think it was Michael K. who said the movie was pushed to 2014 so it wouldn’t have to battle “Diana” for all the Razzies 🙂

        • PastryGoddess

      • Likely I am projecting. The word on the street is that her Grace Kelly pic is shitastic. Maybe it’s the extreme botox that’s giving her the eyes of desperation. The wave is just so “I love you all!” schmaltzy.

        • demidaemon

How can there be word on the street when it isn’t even out yet? I mean, give it a chance to fail at the box office first, people.

          • The street waits for no opening weekend.

          • decormaven

Yes, Blogland and Twitter-verse roll right over opening weekend.

    • alyce1213

I’m not sure she’s pole-dancing for the movie, she’s more likely accepting an enormous fee for just showing up at this Chinese film studio and entertainment center thing. Catherine Zeta-Jones was there too, not sure who else.

  • ballerinawithagun

    I’m lusting for those shoes!

    • poggi

Me too. Since they are not in my size, I will not track Nicole down and rip them off her feet but if they were…she’d be barefoot.

  • Theresa Whittaker

Those are the shoes Diane Kruger needed with her dress she wore to the Metropolitan Opera House.

  • Jacquelyn

  • quiltrx

It seriously looks like her hair is pulled so tight it’s skewing her eyes. Let the face BE, Nicole!
The look is really cute, though. Love the shoes.

  • Erica_Vuitton

Lovin those shoes but the forehead… yikes. She got the length right this time, but she really loves her black ladypants eh?

  • I love it that the guard in camouflage is wearing white gloves. I also lust after Nic’s shoes.

  • xmixiex

THOSE SHOES. Usually I hate white shoes as a rule, but my GOD.

  • Great outfit but her face is pulling focus…and not in a good way. She is so frickin’ pretty. Why oh why does she keep messing with her face like that? I like her hair in the Jimmy Choo ads. All in her face and edgy and sexy.

    • makeityourself

      It was a wig.

  • Jessica O’Connell

Love the shoes. Hate the Botox. And I will NEVER jump onto the “sheer shirt purposely designed so that you can see my bra” train. Ick. Tacky.

  • nannypoo

I hate hate hate her hair.

  • TigerLaverada

Really love the shoes. I’d probably break an ankle trying to navigate in them, but boy I want them.

  • SassyKansas

I look at her feet in those shoes and all I can think is, OW OW OW.

  • Trickytrisha

Those shoes need their own Facebook page.

Her poor face looks both swollen and stretched. I hate to think what the next 20 years will bring.

  • H2olovngrl

That last shot is practically shouting, “MOVIE STAR!”

  • Kelly

Really hate the hair, and those shoes look painful in the extreme. I’m a fan of heels, but these are too much. They make her feet look almost deformed.

  • s’okay. not great

  • mhleta

Those shoes are for seasoned experts and clearly NK falls into that category. There is way too much forehead going on, however.

  • Erica Woods Tucker

Thank goodness. Someone who has on killer shoes that actually fit their feet! Hallelujah! Her face is tighter than a church’s lady’s spanx after lunch.

  • guest2visits

I love how happy she looks, but I’m not so into that white blazer or the hair style. Still – she looks wonderful!
