New York Fashion Week Spring 2014 Front Row: Day 2

Posted on September 07, 2013

The fashion road goes ever on, darlings. Let’s judge the people we meet along the way, shall we?

ELLE Fashion | Next Spring 2014 Show
Joe Zee and Ashley Madekwe

This is one of our favorite events every Fashion Week, featuring designs from fashion students representing schools all over the country, personally selected by a panel of judges from Elle and Maybelline. Ashley was one of the judges this year. She looks gorgeous in this picture, but she literally glowed in person. Can’t-take-your-eyes-off-her beautiful.

Jason Wu Spring 2014 Show
Alicia Keys

If it was a little looser on her and it didn’t have that sheer part, we’d love it. It’s borderline cartoon-y, which isn’t a look she can pull off.

Emily Mortimer

Jessica Pare

This is such a perfect Fashion Bitch look.

Maria Sharapova

 Fashion Pilgrim.

Nautica Spring 2014 Show
Colin Egglesfield and Kerry Rhodes

Ah, the Nautica show. Or as we like to call it, “Hooters for the gay men in the fashion industry.” It’s wall-to-wall guy candy, both in the seats and walking the runway. That’s us, directly behind them, trying to look cool.

Kerry Rhodes has a freaking amazing body and his skin is gorgeous up close.

Andrea Boehlke and Josh Henderson

Josh Henderson and Colin Egglesfield

It’s funny how they’re both so blandly good-looking in pictures that they pretty much look alike, but that’s not how they come across in person. Josh is downright delicate-featured, which surprised us. Very good-looking, but in a much more refined way than he comes across in pictures. Love his look here, even if it was way too hot for a sweater.

Nicole Miller Spring 2014 Show
Bella Thorne

Again, that’s us, right behind these ladies. As soon as Bella took her seat, we whispered to each other the exact same thing we’ve said every time we featured a red carpet picture of her: “She dresses WAY too old for her age.” Yes, live, real-time T Lo bitchery, inches away from our subjects. Life on the edge, darlings.

She’s very pretty, though. But she dresses like a 35-year-old. If you don’t feel like running off to google her age, SHE’S FIFTEEN.

Christiane Seidel

Colbie Caillat

We chatted with her hairstylist, who sat right next to Lorenzo. It’s a shame you can’t see it, because the back of her head had the most amazing horizontal braid.

Kate Nash

This was even more awkward in person than it is in pictures. Like a frumpy pre-schooler’s outfit.

Margarita Levieva

Very pretty.

Tinsley Mortimer

Noon By Noor Spring 2014 Show
Solange Knowles

 Oh, Solange. Never change, honey.

Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2014 Show
Bella Thorne

Christa B. Allen

Surprisingly frumpy. She’s better than this.

Dani Thorne

Super cute.

Holland Roden

CRAZY super cute. We don’t love the bag or the shoes, but the pants and top are awesome.

Jamie Chung

ALSO cute! Ladies! What’s THAT all about? Give us something to work with here.

Nicky Hilton

Valorie Curry

Zosia Mamet

Seriously, this is a Personal Best.

    I covet Zosia’s jacket!
Love Christiane’s dress…I’m guessing Balmain? (so what’s the fashion rule on wearing someone else’s design to a show? if it’s obvious, I mean. Like wearing a t-shirt of a heavy metal band different from the one you’re seeing in concert is TOTALLY wrong…)

    • Stella Zawistowski

I want that jacket too. That color!

    • Sara Brams-Miller

Everyone who comments here reads my mind. Ditto to all you said.

  • GenieinTX

Fifteen?? No way that girl is 15. You are right, she looks 35. I love dresses at Target, then are generally so cute and flirty, but I can never buy them because the fit me all wrong (way too short waisted or I’m too long waisted) and end up being way too short of me. I feel like I’m dressing like a teenager when I try them on. Someone needs to take this girl to Target.

    • unbornfawn

Your waist is in the perfect place.

      • mshesterp

I’m short-waisted, and I’m going to say the same thing to myself when I go shopping for dresses and many will (inevitably) not fit me right–“Your waist is in the perfect place. It’s just this damn dress.” Thank you for the attitude adjustment, unbornfawn!

        • unbornfawn

          You are welcome!

          • demidaemon

That’s exactly what Stacy and Clinton say! It isn’t your body that is wrong; it’s the clothes!

  • kmk05

ZOSIA IS DEFINITELY TROLLING THE WORLD. How can she forget pants when she apparently has a sense of style on a daily (let’s say ‘non-event’y, since maybe she had a stylist here) basis?

    • decormaven

LMAO at this comment! This girl is a prankster for sure.

  • Lori

“This was even more awkward in person than it is in pictures.”

Wow, that’s really saying something because it’s hard to believe that anything can be more awkward than it looks in pictures.

  • MilaXX

STOP THE PRESS!: Zoisia looks cute! I mean human and everything.I know this isn’t that kind of post but I’m calling this a WERQ

  • marlie

I love Bella Thorne’s dress in the picture from the Nicole Miller show. Like, seriously covet. But then again, I AM the age that she dresses.

  • marlie

Also, I love seeing T and Lo in the backgrounds. You guys look great!!

    • gabbilevy

Soon, they’ll be the subject of the photos!

    • mshesterp

They are ADORABLE with their suits and their colorful ties/pocket squares/vests/airs of awesomeness. Well done, gentlemen.

    • Coleen

I may or may not have squeed when I saw Tom’s wedding ring in the background at the Nicole Miller show pictures. Also, Lorenzo, can you tell us from where you got that gorgeous aqua tie?

  • hughman

    • Donna Tabor

Again, cracking me up. Thank you.

    • SewingSiren

Just smile and wave. Smile and wave (and look for TLo in the background). That’s what I do anyway.

  • Donna Tabor

Nicky Hilton’s dress has what we used to call a drive-in skirt. That zipper = easy access.

There, now, doesn’t that feel better, T-Lo?

    • marlie

      *can’t stop laughing*

  • Adrianna Grężak

I knew Jamie Chung looked familiar, and I definitely remember her from Real World. Didn’t know she had a legitimate IMDB

  • Fordzo

Is the lady behind Zosia (the one in the yellow shoes) about to give birth? What is that stance?

  • teensmom99

Are you sure that is not a relative of Zosia’s who looks a lot like her but is put together well?

    • Tafadhali

You caught him — David Mamet just can’t resist fashion week!

      • demidaemon

  • sleepycat

    Love your ascot-thingy Lo!

  • GorgeousThings

Jeezus, I would wear Bella Thorne’s dress, and she is the same age as my son!

  • I wonder if Zosia felt more pressured to dress nice for this–like, normally she just has to stand and pose at the RC and doesn’t give much of a damn. But here’s she’s surrounded by super fashionable girls who she has to mingle with and maybe talk to and she decided to actually bother for once.

    • demidaemon

      This is a good explanation!

  • PlethoraofBooks

I spot TLo! Love what I can see of what you are both wearing!

  • lonepear

I am 30 and I am coveting Bella Thorne’s outfits. OTOH, when I was 15, if I thought I could have dressed in a way that would make me pass as a real grownup (and a stylish, beautiful one!), I would have done it.

  • Pennymac

I love being able to live vicariously through your awesomeness!
The best part of ALL of these pictures is playing “Spot the Fabulous Uncles”.

    • Jessica Freeman

Um, glad I am not the only one. Once they mentioned they were in the photos, i was more focused on finding them than looking at the person in the photo.

      • Daisy Walker

        Exactly. Like a fashion-world Where’s Waldo!

  • Heather

At least Bella Thorne dresses too old in an “I’m a legal secretary having a night on the town” way, versus an “I’m a stripper approaching 40, and I’m gonna work it for all I can” way. Ie, things could be worse.

BTW I recently saw Zosia Mamet walking down the street on the Upper West Side. She looked like a normal young cute 20-something – so normal that what she was wearing didn’t even register other than “slightly hipsterish.” Her hair is also really pretty, with natural-looking waves. So clearly, the fuggery is a performance staged for the public’s benefit.

    • MilaXX

which is what I have suspected of Zosia all along. She’s trolling the public and it’s just not cute.

      • demidaemon

I think “benefit” is the wrong word. Perhaps “ire” or “complete and utter disgust and rage” would be more appropriate.

  • Jacquelyn

Wait. That Bella Thorne chick is only 15? Wow.

    Jessica Pare. Dayum.

    • mshesterp

She’s definitely werqing the fashion bitch angle–it’s great to see.

  • Bella Thorne is further proof of the evil that is Nick and Disney. They just keep cranking out these girls who look and act too mature while they are underage, show the world their panties on the cover of Maxim the day they turn 18, then spend the next few years doing their best to scandalize us with how overtly sexy they can be all while racing the clock because once they hit 22 they are old news and cast aside for the next teen pushing the boundaries. Sorry. Rant over.

    • Beardslee

      It’s a good rant. I’m with you.

  • ballerinawithagun

My cousin Marge (yes, of course from Minnesota) has a group called the “Flamingo Girls”. I didn’t know that Solange was a member! Is she dressing for retirement already? Or is this what we call ironic?

    • Constant Reader

My friend Lynette (age 92) is a member of the Pink Flamingoes! When the group was formed, I think the youngest member was 50; I think now the youngest member is 70. Any one of them could rock Solange’s outfit at their next gathering.

  • alyce1213

Some really cute outfits here. I can’t decide which is worse — Bella Thorne in the too-mature (yet gorgeous) dresses or grown-ass women in babydoll dresses.

  • Zosia Mamet is looking really good. She could do just a little bit better with makeup, but yes, personal best.

  • Neil

At the risk of sounding like my parents….. who are any of these people?? Should I know?

  • twigg

    Emily Mortimer looks so uncomfortable.

  • carolynmo

I really, really want to go to Fashion Week. I’m hoping there’s a chapter about it in your book.

  • SewingSiren

This was the best. First i see the T and Lo ears. Then a nice profile of Lo . And then a smiling T. Serious Lo. And looking down T. Who cares about all these silly girls and their dresses.

  • VioletFem

You can sort of see half of the horizontal braid that Colbie is sporting in the picture featuring Bella Thorne (and TLo!) from the Nicole Miller show.

  • Levedi

My pre-schooler niece wouldn’t be caught dead in that thing! She’d rip the tie off immediately. (Okay, she’d also pull the skirt over her head, but in that weird thing it might be an improvement.)

  • Aurumgirl

Maybe Zosia’s got that “even a broken clock tells the time right 2 times a day” thing going on.

  • Jessica O’Connell

My favorite part of the Fashion Week Front Row posts is playing Where’s TLo! 😀

  • cocohall

Who is Margarita Levieva? And what event was she invited to? I adore her dress and her look, but it seems her driver dropped her off at Fashion Week while she was expecting to board a fabulous yacht or perhaps lounge under a magnificent shade tree at a garden party. If not, props to her for dressing to stand out and apart from the crowd. That takes guts. And yes, the people whose names I even remotely recognize are dwindling rapidly . . .

    • Jaeda Laurez

If I’m not mistaken, she’s Fauxmanda from Revenge lol.

  • kimmeister

I really hate all the black shoes that come all the way up to the ankle and yet have openings all up the top, like Jessica Pare’s and Dani Thorne’s. I quite like Nicki Hilton’s shoes though.

  • mrspeel2

Re: Colbie Caillat, “It’s a shame you can’t see it, because the back of her head had the most amazing horizontal braid.”

Isn’t that her with her head turned (speaking with either her hairdresser or one of you), in the photo of Bella Thorne?

  • algaechick

Congrats to you both for not being photographed looking down at your phones (and for looking incredibly cute!).
I would be tumbled in a heap within 5 minutes if I had to walk around in 4″ heels on a fabric-covered floor. These ladies are PROFESSIONALS.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Oh my God, that’s the cutest I have even seen Zosia Mamet look! It’s adorable!!!

  • A Shiny O’Connor

    Yinz are everywhere!

  • tboscardin

The best part of these photos is how dashing you boys look in the background!

  • Candigirl1968

This lets me know that Zosia can do much, much better. I don’t know whether to be pleased or more annoyed, given what she keeps subjecting us to otherwise.

    • demidaemon

I would just set yourself to “annoyed” because “more annoyed” is inevitable when she hits the poledance again. This outfit is clearly an anomaly.

  • rage_on_the_page

Fauxmanda is alive and at the Nicole Miller show! Someone tell Jack.

  • akprincess72

Valorie Curry has a young Helen Mirren face…
