Lizzy Caplan at the Masters Of Sex New York Series Premiere

Posted on September 27, 2013

We can admit that sometimes we miss certain things just because we’re looking at so many outfits every day. After we praised her dress the other day, it was brought to our attention by our minions with opinions that Lizzy was wearing something with a distinctly holiday, and thus, off-season feel to it. We still loved the look, but it’s true. It does look like a Chanukah dress.

Well, she’s all dressed up for the Christmas pageant now:

Lizzy attends the “Masters Of Sex” New York Series Premiere at The Morgan Library & Museum in New York City in an Andrew Gn dress paired with David Yurman jewelry and Armani shoes and clutch.

Andrew Gn Resort 2014 Collection

She must be doing some sort of multi-culti style stroll through the entire holiday season for this poledance. We can’t wait to see her Ramadan and Kwanzaa dresses.

She knows it’s September, right?

The white ankle straps burn my eyes!

    • MoHub

      Not flattering in the least.

    • 3boysful

And on my monitor they appear to be a different white than the top, which is triggering my OCD.

  • RussellH88

I love Lizzy Caplan and I love Christmas, but I don’t know if I love Lizzy Caplan dressing for Christmas.

It does make me crave ham, though.

    • H2olovngrl

Mmmm…Ham…or Hamm, depending on what we are talking about.

      • Sobaika

        Hamm sandwich.

      • MK03

        Hamm and Buble.

  • H2olovngrl

Man, I do not like those bangs. I do, however, think the Christmas(y) top is adorable.

    • kirkyo

I’m in love with the top, especially the falling leaf details.

    • Rhonda Shore

I think it’s a shame that it’s an xmas-y design, if it was something more graphic design/mod-like, it would have been most excellent, since the cut of the dress suits her. She looks so completely different from her turn in mean girls, almost like a whole different person.

  • Shawn EH

    Love this look on her!

  • LizLemon

    I love this whole look! It’s crazy/cool!

    • mshesterp

I think she looks super adorable. Don’t even care that it’s kinda off season (and it’s not as bad as blue velvet!)

    • Fanny_Trollope

Love the top and skirt, would have liked different shoes. But overall, I think she looks super cute.

    • chylde

I love her and I love this look. Why can’t one wear a Christmas tree skirt on one’s shoulders anyway?

  • Emily Dagger

Is it weird that I consistently confuse her, Kat Dennings, and Krysten Ritter with each other? I like them all, but I’m always like “oh, yeah, she was so good in ‘Don’t Trust The B… ‘ I mean ‘Mean Girls.’”

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

I’ve been staring at bus ads for “The Masters of Sex” and been saying, “It’s so cool Krysten Ritter got another job so quickly!” You’ve made me feel not so alone!

      • Emily Dagger

Thank God — I was worried that I was secretly racist against brunettes with strong eyebrows (which would ultimately cause a complicated case of self-loathing).

        • shirab

Add Emily Blunt to the list, and I will feel less alone, too. (And I’m another brunette with strong eyebrows–what’s up with that?)

          • Emily Dagger

Maybe we have face-blindness and can’t see other women who look vaguely like us??

          • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

I’m a “natural” blond with strong eyebrows. My self-loathing burns my scalp twice a month – even with two packets of Sweet ‘n Low mixed in.

          • martha

what does the sweet ‘n low do?

          • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

Per James Marsters from Buffy and Angel who got his scalp bleached regularly for his role, it’s supposed to help save your scalp from burning. It just made my hair weirdly sticky.

    • hyperionic

That is weird. They really don’t look that similar. Plus Kat Dennings has enormous boobs and Krysten Ritter has none.

  • manina

I love the way she looks, the hair, the shoes, the green matches her eyes. Of course, if you want to be critical you can also say St. Patricks Day or whatever but it is a very original look.

  • http://www.twitter.com/anneofnogables AnneNotHathaway

Maybe she’s wearing a Christmas tree skirt (the only thing in the boot of her car at the last minute) to disguise the fact that her black cocktail dress is too skimpy, and (here’s where it makes sense) her parents just texted her to say they’re on their way over!

    • YoungSally

Total christmas tree skirt…..Actually I have vintage Irish table linens that look suspiciously like that top — I guess I should check my closet.

      • largishbearishAtlish

christmas tree skirt + project runway + dollar store challenge… sigh

  • GillianHolroyd

The applique is abstract enough that it and the capelet could be *any* other color and not look holiday-ish.

  • Stella Zawistowski

Is the Andrew Gn caplet going to get all overexposed just like those annoying Louis Vuitton giant checkerboard looks from last season?

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/TheOctocornNetwork International Model

This is the work of fashion magazines saying, “EMERALD IS THE COLOR OF 2013!”

  • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

But she’s got the solo in the choir concert, so that’s nice.

  • Janet B

    Resort 2014?
This have been for Holiday 2013.

  • crash1212

What an odd dress. Pretty hair and make-up, though.

  • hughman

“Oh tan and bombed, oh tan and bombed…”

    • rh33

      Christmas in Palm Springs?

  • Danielle

I really love her haircut. From the neck down… no.

  • Imasewsure

Just a little reminder that we should start picking up all of those little stocking stuffers!! Love the dress and the makeup. Still can’t with the hair and really don’t like that style of shoe at all. The model’s purse is awesome!!

  • marlie

I really like this; I’m totally wearing it for my family Christmas dinner.

    • TropiCarla

I was gonna say — I’m only agreeing to host Christmas dinner at our house this year if the rest of my husband’s family agrees to chip in and buy me this dress.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

It’s a minimalist salute to O’ Christmas Tree.

  • amy

what’s with all these weird cape shirts?

  • MilaXX

1.)She looks cute, but yes, the cape reads Christmas-y. 2)Are cape tops going to be the next mini trend? 3)Her shoes would have worked with that dress Diane Kruger wore with those awful white shoes earlier this week.

    • filmcricket

Hey, you just said everything I was gonna. Thanks! It’s Friday afternoon & I’m feeling lazy.

  • lalahartma

    I think it’s cute!

  • hillmad

    Complete with Christmas tree skirt!

  • Linda LaPaz

Hate the shoes, but I’m loving this Andrew Gn collection.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

I like this, it’s cool looking. Are capelets a thing now?

  • Jeanne leCube

The makeup is all wrong. A feline eye, cooler-toned pink blush, and a nude lip would make all the difference. Instead the red lips and warm blush are sending her to Christmastown.

  • conniemd

I’m trying to figure out how this outfit is “resort collection.” What resort, the North Pole? But still a cute dress and very figure flattering to her.

  • dashransome

I don’t care for the proportions. I’d like the skirt to be a little longer. Strangely the model looks okay to me, but it may be because she is holding a purse in front of her.

    • kimmeister

Also, the model’s purse is ridiculously adorable.

      • dashransome

Yes – truly I think the purse makes everything okay.

  • Constant Reader

She’s about to do her short skating program to Walkin’ In A Winter Wonderland.

  • largishbearishAtlish

the christmas card red lipstick is not helping the vibe…

  • http://lavidalaura.com/ Laura Grai

Meh on the outfit, but I am absolutely loving her hair lately.

  • Erica_Vuitton

So tit capes really are the thing now huh? Twice in one day…

  • andi56

I nearly had a heart attack when I saw this.
Way back in the late 70s, I was a bridesmaid at a holiday wedding, and the capes we wore were EXACTLY like this! I showed my grandmother the photo, and she muttered something about the goyim. Seriously, who would pillage 70s style today?

  • sojourneryouth

I like the top of this dress, but it has nothing to do with the bottom of this dress. The top is light and pretty, but the rest of it just seems to drag it down. I understand that for some it reads Christmas, but for me, it just reads Confused.

  • Adrianna Grężak

I really wish it didn’t have the green beading!

  • msdamselfly

Beautiful hair and makeup and she has a nice figure

  • Jacquelyn

    It’s September. SEPTEMBER.

Ok, I understand that actors live by some bizarre calender that says they can start wearing sweaters and scarves and boots before any of us but a snow flake? Really?

  • quiltrx

I like the dress on its own…but the shoes take the whole ‘what season is it?’ thing to another, cray-cray level.
Oh, and I covet the model’s bag.

  • MannahattaMamma

what is it with this shirt/capelet thing that is happening? do the ladystars no longer want use of their arms? And the blue dress wasn’t so much a christmas frock as it was figure-skating-finale dress.

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

there is a religious group many of whom live in our area, called the dunkards (sp?). they are related to the amish and all the women and girls wear dresses with little capelets like that. i’m predisposed to like the capelets because the women i’ve met who wear them are all very sweet and kind.

  • bertkeeter

Bing Crosby would definetly have hit on her!

  • demidaemon

She’s just thrown off by all the stores changing the displays! Don’t fault her that she sets her fashions to what’s hoppin’ down at the DG.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

“down at the DG.” That made me smile.

      • demidaemon

        I’m glad!

  • decormaven

I’m waiting for the Festivus dress myself.

  • Heather

Hate the shoes, but her pedi is cute, if a little summery.

  • Mollymalone

Oh I love this outfit, too bad she didn’t save it for December :’(

  • Not applicable

love her haircut- wish I could rock an angle cut & bangs like that!

  • kategs

Come on guys! What’s wrong with your eyesight today! It’s seaweed on this dress and earlier you posted about a guy buttoning a one button suit incorrectly. Did the cats sit on your specs?

  • Cathy S

I love the dress. The shoes are horrible, but the dress is lovely.

  • mdcoon127

    ??That’s coral growing not holly!

  • Crystal

    Her. Hair. Is. Wonderful.

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i would like it more if the skirt was not black. maybe deep dark green. but then she’d really look like a christmas tree.
