Juliette Lewis in Vionnet at the amfAR Milano 2013 Gala After Party

Posted on September 25, 2013

It’s kind of a shame about the backdrop, because we are loving this navy blue on her.

Juliette Lewis attends the amfAR Milano 2013 Gala After Party in Vionnet.

Not so in love with the shoes, but the dress is pretty and low-key chic. Maybe a teeny bit on the mature side, but we may be thinking that way because we kinda miss her fuck-you persona. She’s gone all establishment. But you don’t co-star with Meryl Streep in Oscar-bait films without having to put on a respectable dress or two.

Don’t worry, there’s still a slight whiff of craycray.

      • Spicytomato1

Really? I’m having trouble detecting it here. Even her hair is as bouncy as a shampoo ad. Perhaps this is an imposter.

        • MilaXX

Yes but look at the posing. No boring pee pee standing for this gal.

          • Spicytomato1

True. Although I find the poses more charming than crazy. Potato, potahto. :)

      • Lucía Gavello

        She’s a special snowflake, I love her.

    • MilaXX

I love this little nutjob! She looks really cute here. I don’t mind her dressing a little establishment, because I have no doubt the zany still lies just under the surface.

      • mhleta

Me too! I think we love her for the same reasons we love people like Parker Posey- for being unapologetically untraditional, simultaneously vulnerable and fearless, and for setting the conventions that define “beauty” on their collective ears.

        • TerryMH

Wow, I just love how you put that!

      • Rhonda Shore

I LOVE/LOVE this dress, It’s classic but not dull (and it has details, like the hem, cute sleeves, and mesh) that set it apart but aren’t overdone. It really flatters her, the color and fit are great, and look how animated she is in these snapshots…not boring at all. (Don’t hate the shoes but don’t love them either.)

        • fursa_saida

It is doing CRAMAZING things for her shape.

    • megohd

She looks positively radiant and gorgeous.

Juliette really does look fantastic here. Seeing as how she usually looks like she has huge wad of bubble gum in her mouth, those are words I never thought I would say, type, or even think.

I am so in love with that dress; I’m feeling envious and covetous right now.

    • Synnae

I’m sure too the zany will come out again the moment she starts touring with her band. I would hope so anyways!

Great dress on her, and I love the shoes by themselves. Would have gone for a silver or pewter shoe with this dress though. Also great hair on her, good colour and nice style.

I’M HEALED! The redemption of Juliette Lewis has cured all my ills. Well, not all. Those shoes are keeping it me from true miracle status. If I could get her and Parker Posey together to smile big, pose silly and generally put the twenty-two year olds to shame with all their awesomely aging wackery, my life would be complete.

    • Garcia Loca

There has got to be a portrait of her, aging horribly in an attic somewhere.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Love this dress. I would have prefered an edgier look to the shoes, but over all; I luvs it.

      • editrixie

Same here. But wow, I love that dress. I rarely ever want to buy a dress (don’t need them, don’t want them), but I would cut someone for one of those I could fit into.

When I first saw the top of the photo, I thought, What’s in store for us in the rest of the photo? This isn’t shocking or over the top.

I like this look. The shoes would be okay with neutral polish on her toes.

    • TonyGo

Fishnet always looks cheap (i.e. inexpensive) to me. Cute dress otherwise.

    • bellafigura1

I lurve the dress, the shoes are too matchy, and I could never have predicted seeing Juliette Lewis and Vionnet in the same sentence, so there ya go!

    • chylde

I love you guys, you like all the funky chicks I do – tilda, parker, jessica, helena, juliette…

    • ChristySchiff

She looks amazing here. The color is bringing a lot to the look, but I think really what is making it work is the incredible “pleased with how she looks and confident” expression she’s got here. I need to remember this more often: it’s this confidence that make all the difference.

      • Rhonda Shore

Yes and also that she’s comfortable and doesn’t have to stand a certain way because a body part is about to fall out of the dress. Whoever at Vionnet designed this dress clearly likes women.

    • LuisaNL

I love her. doesn’t she just look like she’s super fun to hang out with?!

    • melanie0866

That’s the first time I’ve seen that hem length work, on anyone. Well done, dear!

    • Imasewsure

This dress is totally in my wheelhouse so I love it. Also love the shoes (but I’m frumpy and these are wheelhouse too).

    • Adrianna Grężak

      She looks great

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

      LOVE that ring.

    • Diego!

Gorgeous dress! I hate the shoes too. But she looks very happy!

    • teensmom99

      Wow!

    • decormaven

Solid work here- she looks great and she’s selling this look. Brava!

    • Pennymac

She looks like she really likes this dress, and that confidence sells the hell out of it! Not a fan of the shoes, but thats a minor quibble.

    • SewingSiren

      Very flattering . Very Vionnet.

    • kim bunchalastnames

HOW does she still look 25?

    • marlie

She looks great in this dress, but she’s still rocking her crazy personality. Go girl!

    • GillianHolroyd

The shape of the skirt and the hem length are wicked flattering.

Not so sure about the shoulders, the insert looks a bit off-kilter but she is selling it.

    • sagecreek

SHe looks great. Wouldn’t have minded some earrings, though.

      • Rhonda Shore

in a way, the fact that she barely accessorized makes this work better and put the full focus on her…dare i say (rolls eyes) inner light…

    • luluransom

Oh man, I really WANT that dress. (I’m actually ‘a little bit on the mature side’ :)

      • Rhonda Shore

me too!!! I’d love to have this dress!!!

    • LaSylphide

She gives personality to anything she wears.

    • Constant Reader

I love the dress; she frightens me a little. Not here in particular, just in general…

    • NoveltyRocker

Really sweet little dress and the color is awesome. It could be all of the navy head to toe but it’s reminding me of Olive Oil. It could just be the posing too.

    • bhl_1123

I wonder if event planners inform stylists of the carpet and backdrop colors prior to an event. If not, they should…

    • Jacquelyn

The dress is fine and all but whats with the weird posing, face and hands?

    • Erica_Vuitton

That first pic is clearly a “Yes I know I blend into the background.” nod. I’m a big fan of the look, including the shoes, just wish she had turned the buckles to the sides instead of in front. Small quibble.

    • quiltrx

LUV HUH! She put the fun into her posing, for sure. I like the shape of the dress a lot–that slight flare at the hemline gives it a little flirtiness.

    • Janet B

Fantastic dress on her, she knows it.

    • crash1212

I love this dress and I love the shoes. Mostly, I love her attitude. She looks great.

    • filmcricket

The colour and shape are good on her, but otherwise this isn’t really working for me. I dislike the hem length and I loathe the shoes. And the mesh at the bottom, when I scrolled past quickly, gave me the impression she hadn’t shaved her legs. Which, knock yourself out if that’s your thing, but it was an unfortunate first impression.

    • allcapsERINN

She makes me smile – she looks like she’s happy and having fun. I want to give her a huge hug. And yes, that is an AWESOME color on her!

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

I like it. Very chic. I am a sucker for navy blue.

    • alyce1213

I love it — the mesh is a nice counterpoint to the very staid dress. The shoes don’t bother me, they’re fine. I like how she’s hugging the wall.
      Très chic.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

I like the shoes because they give the dress a 40’s vintage vibe which appeals to me. She’s still giving off the crazy glow imo.

    • DTLAFamilies

Remember her showing up with Brad Pitt at some awards things wearing corn rows and a white satin dress? And I think she was a minor at the time. Ah, the good old days.

    • madge

      CARLA TATE!

    • Trickytrisha

Aw, she has a happy. It’s refreshing to see someone show their enthusiasm instead of trying to be all perfect for the cameras. Love the dress, love it all.

    • conniemd

All the below, and also it fits her beautifully, without any pulling, wrinkling or hanging folds. Just one perfect line from head to foot in that first picture.

    • roche

She looks gorgeous. I love this dress and the color on her is so flattering. I think the matchy shoes are a good choice here, though I think she could have used some jewelry.

    • Heather

As a similarly long-toed woman, I avoid wearing sandals with straps that cross in that very place.

That said, love her and love the navy.

    • Kelly

I love this whole look. Dress, shoes, the lot. It fits like a dream and is chic and has some fun visual interest.

    • jif

The best she’s looked in, quite possibly, ever.

    • http://www.dogsdotcom.blogspot.com/ Plink

      Love this dress on her!

      • http://howtofaint.tumblr.com/ How to Faint

Me too. Best of all, it looks like she loves this dress on her. :D

    • bertkeeter

This is an exciting and fresh new look …understated, minimal but not boring and very flattering! MORE please!

    • msdamselfly

Throw in a red backdrop and “Voila!”
