Julie Bowen in Jenny Packham at the Audi and Altuzarra Emmys Week 2013 Kick-off Party

Posted on September 17, 2013

It’s been a Brit-heavy day here at T Lo International Style Assessments, Ltd. We’re having an uncharacteristic “AMERICA! FUCK YEAH!” moment and feel the need to immediately slap up pictures of a standard California Blonde. We’re waving little flags as we type.

Julie Bowen attends the Audi and Altuzarra Emmys Week 2013 Kick-off Party in a Jenny Packham dress paired with a Giuseppe Zanotti clutch and Jimmy Choo sandals.

Jenny Packham Spring 2013 Collection

Actually, we’re putting her up here because she looks pretty good. She seems to have permanently learned her lesson about staying away from severe looks. “Soft” is the best style directive we can give her.

Okay, we’re not super-crazy about the satin-y hem and we think she could’ve gone for some color in her clutch. But otherwise, it’s an Attagirl. Love the hair and makeup especially.

But she does seem to be falling into another trap of wearing colorless metallics all the time. It serves her well, but it’d be nice to see her in some bold colors now and then; especially since she’s got the coloring that’s screaming out for it.

      Nailed it. For ‘Murica.

    • elirt

Definitely the best she’s looked in a while! Great hair and make-up. She just needs to take note and keep that up!

    • Getoverit

She looks great. Even though shes fit & thin she still looks feminine. That being said I would like to take her and Kelly Ripa to the Shoneys buffet to get a little meat on their bones.

      • purple lemonade

Don’t body snark here. It isn’t allowed or appreciated.

    • hughman

The satin hem does make the dressy kind of Disco Pillow Cover.

      • alyce1213

        Duchess — is that you?

      • formerlyAnon

        And I kinda like that.

(Nobody ever asked me to dress them because of my awesome eye & taste, mind.)

    • alyce1213

I like a sweet, shiny shift. She looks great. Represent, Julie.

    • flamingoNW

Actually, I like the satiny hem. She looks great. I especially like her right now after seeing her geek out on Breaking Bad on the Talking Bad show a few weeks ago. So funny

    • homofascist

Ironically a dress from a British designer. And it has also been a ‘Modern Family lady-star’ heavy day.

      • charlotte

She doesn’t really resemble her “daughters”, does she?

    • kimmeister

She looks fantastic! And for once, I think those ubiquitous Jimmy Choos are perfect for the dress.

      • alyce1213

I agree. Also, she has the pretty feet to wear them.

      • understateddiva

those Choos really made the rounds!!

      • Celandine1

I love those Choos in every color! I would rather keep seeing them over and over again instead of another silly putty shoe or a hoof shoe.

    • MilaXX

I’m not complaining about this look one bit. It’s a big step up. She’s not trying to makeup either her clothes or her hair do things it can’t or shouldn’t do. It’s a really good look for her.

    • Jacquelyn

Needs color somewhere, I agree but she looks ethereal. Like she stepped out of fairy land.

    • largishbearishAtlish

Maybe she has new hair/makeup person? This is the best I have seen her, great color on her face/hair…Think T’lo nailed the dress. Don’t like the hem but that last pic is smashing! (and a colorful clutch would be nice) but dang! Good Job!
looking forward to a new season of MF.

    • formerlyAnon

      That is one gorgeous dress.

    • Trickytrisha

Lovely look on a lovely lady. The shoes are so ubiquitous that I can’t help but admire a design that everyfricking celeb seems to have worn in the past year. Sigh.

    • GillianHolroyd

Welp, she looks great; mebbe a personal best.

    • megohd

Never better! She finally looks at ease with herself. I love everything about this.

    • PastryGoddess

      Those frickin Jimmy Choos again.

    • carpediva

That’s TLo: Coming again to save the motherfuckin’ day, yeah!

      (Annnnnnnnnd….. ear worm.)

    • NC_Meg

Compared to what she usually wears on the RC, this is damn near a WERQ in my book.

    • CommentsByKatie

      Still a British designer! :)

    • Lilak

No complaints here (except that I can still see and hear her squawking and gesturing and interrupting throughout that first episode of ‘Talking Bad’ — painful.)

    • Scoop

Dear Uncles, I beg to differ on one point here – she should always wear white and light-color metallics, etc. What’s the point of being a California Blonde otherwise??

    • quiltrx

I’d love to see this dress up close to see how the look is accomplished. Pretty cool.

    • clairellis

She looks pretty! Love the dress.

    • DamH

      She’s stunning.

    • decormaven

She’s working this look- probably one of her best, ever.

    • Claudia

The satin-y bit at the bottom looks okay on the model, but is not working on Julie, imo. I’m not sure why, but it is so.

    • greenwich_matron

Is that an intentional mullet hem? She’s not pregnant, she has decent posture, she doesn’t have enormous boobs, and yet the back hem is almost 2″ lower than the front.

      Very pretty!

    • http://frockpaperscissors.blogspot.com/ kvlm

Best red carpet look she has had since that black and white color blocked dress at the GGs years ago (which was a little lost on her anyway because sister needed a burger or a buffet at the time). Well done.

    • MoHub

A beaded, fringed hem would have given this Deco realness and earned a WERQ.

    • MartyBellerMask

      Gorgeous. Lovely.

    • Ruth Preston

Gorgeous. Oh, how I love the Packham. If there’s a heaven, I’ll be rocking a size 2, decked out in Packham, eating Cheetos and not getting the orange stuff on the beadwork.

    • crash1212

It’s Juilie Bowen. This is a WERQ for her. She looks great.

    • marlie

This is cute. A bit holiday-party-ish, but cute nonetheless.

    • Shawn EH

USA Today! She looks really elegant and chic. Maybe a little statement jewelry (rubes, sapphires, emeralds, something with color) would have been a nice accent, but I’ve rarely seen her natural beauty come through so well on the RC.

    • mhleta

I want to take the dress down a size, but otherwise, she looks gorgeous, if a little icy. Gold rather than silver shoes would have warmed this up a little. I’d love seeing her in more color, too, but she’s definitely finding better shapes for her lean build.
