Julianna Margulies in Reed Krakoff at the 2013 Emmy Awards

Posted on September 23, 2013

Rarely ever gets it wrong, this one. She always manages to quietly set herself apart in some way. We can’t help but respect that.

Julianna Margulies attends the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards held at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California in a custom Reed Krakoff dress paired with Fred Leighton jewelry.

Love the dress. That’s a perfectly chic, bold way to wear a print on the red carpet and the whole thing’s got a beachy, coverup feel to it while still remaining formal-looking. Not real crazy about the hair, but we can’t fault her for her arm candy accessory.

I’m always disposed to love her. She does a ton of work fundraising for ALS and so she tops my “LOVE” list. But this is a striking dress and very modern looking. I think I’d like it anyway.

  • Qitkat

    How Fabulous is this look!

  • kirkyo

    Striking and gorgeous.

    She looks pretty great too.

  • Bethany Fairbrother

    Not loving the pony tail.

  • quiltrx

It’s very pretty, but the shape is a bit too ‘extra-long-bath-wrap’ for me.

  • bertkeeter

Awesome dress. Interesting cut and beading!

  • mhleta

I love this. It’s all very1970s California chic. Even the hair. She’s such a cool girl.

  • Judih1

Nice dress but I think it hangs down too low on her bust. If it was an inch or two higher I would love it

I’m sometimes a little bored by her “looks”. Maybe she’s too perfect. I really love this. Classy with a unique edge.

Oh, wait. I’m not sure I like the white with her skin tone but this could simply be a color adjustment to my computer.

  • H2olovngrl

That last photo may as well just say, “SUCK IT BITCHES!”

  • H2olovngrl

For the record, I love this whole look. My favorite of the night, now with more delicious arm candy!

  • Kimberlini

    Her makeup is perfection.

  • A Shiny O’Connor

    Hair is super weird.

  • bellafigura1

I think the hair is perfection, cascades like the leaves and the ruffle, and she knows exactly what she’s doing by having it styled that way.

  • Erica_Vuitton

I’ve been having the same reaction to all strapless dresses lately, I just want to yank this up an inch or so. Maybe less fabric heft? Really like the different print though it’s unexpected.

Hands down favorite dress of the day, the whole Emmy run-up, AND the Emmys.

  • Sara Brams-Miller

    That dress is beautiful.

  • ChaquitaPhilly

I thought “bath towel” when I saw the NYT photo but it looks great in the left side view! Love the leaf design.

  • Not applicable

she’s another one who gets my carte blanche mostly because she’s aging so gracefully- beautifully- and just looks amazing without putting scary fillers in her face…. And, she’s the ultimate cougar- look at the husband! :)

  • twocee

Embroidered bath towel. On the Emmys red carpet.

    No.

  • Cathy S

Love love the dress. Not to crazy about the hair. But she looks gorgeous.

  • Tamara Hogan

    Sublime.

  • Diego!

Gorgeous dress!!! She looks stunning! And what an improvement with her husband! LOL :D

  • MannahattaMamma

you know what is really really nice? she actually looks happy to be there, as opposed to pissed off, bored, affronted… what’s that your mamma always said? The best accessory is a big smile? Yep. (although really effing handsome escort never hurt)

  • Chuck Barthelme

Another prime example of someone just looking better and better as she gets older. She is so gorg.

I look forward to seeing what she wears at these things. She manages to be original but under the radar. The epitome of chic.

    • Shawn EH

Minimal and severe works really well for her; when she smiles, she can even soften it.

  • sagecreek

OMG gorgeous. I love the way she is in Hollywood, but not of Hollywood. She got over Doug Ross a long time ago :)

  • CMSmith1848

Sorry Gay Uncles. She is wearing a sheet!!! Even my husband said it looks like one of our duvet covers.

  • berlinmama

Poison ivy growing up the side of her dress?

  • Cheryl

I don’t think I saw one necklace last night! (Chazzerai = thank you. My mom was the only person I knew who ever used that word.)

  • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

That’s a great word! Do you pronounce the ch like challah? Or like chump…

  • MaryAtRealityTea

I wish I had sheets so glamourous. Target needs to up the ante!

  • Emily

I thought the same thing! When it was a new haircut I loved it, then when I realised it was a wimpy pony I changed my mind.

+1 to @Sobaika:disqus. That man is FOINE.

  • TAGinMO

Not many people can say they’re trading down when they get to present a statuette next to Dylan Freaking McDermott. Julianna can make a case.

  • andi56

Right on, foodycat! It’s Yiddish, and sounds like the “ch” in challah. YThere was a lot of Yiddish in our house when I was growing up. “She’s wearing all this chazzerai around her neck, and looks like a cheap tart.” Oy!

  • andi56

Cheryl, you’re right! I looked back at some of the photos, and it was amazingly restrained. Chazzerai = now there’s more of us! : )

  • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

Awesome. Adding it to my vocabulary now! It shall take pride of place along with chutzpah.

  • andi56

Chazzerai is usually paired with “tchotchkes,” too. : )

  • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

I can’t do tchotchkes – in my head it always sounds like Fran Drescher.

  • NYCGlamourpuss

I thought you were going to say, “Fresh and lovely. And Julianna looks good too!”
