Joseph Gordon-Levitt at the Don Jon New York Premiere

Posted on September 13, 2013

Once again, this all seems to be in order:

Joseph Gordon-Levitt at the premiere of ‘Don Jon’ in New York City.

His style never changes, but it never really has to. One of the best things about his style is his constant use of pattern in his looks. It’s rare to see him in nothing but solid colors. And speaking of which, one of the other best things about his style is the rather advanced color sense on display. Very few guys would agree to work a grey, brown, and teal combo in a suit. It’s a perfect combo for his own coloring.

Not gonna lie: It’s a combo we’re suddenly dying to try out ourselves. Good look for the fall, we’re thinking.

      JGL to a “T”
He’s very handsome in his own adorakable way.

      • Beth513

        “Adorkable” – snort. Awesome.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      Gah. I just love him.

      • Cz

He is so hot and in the most not-obviously hot way.

        • jjtxgrrl

I love the friendly eyes….. That twinkle is amaze.

        • Pterodactyl111

Plus he has an incredible voice.

          • jjtxgrrl

Oh yes. That too. Wow he’s so amaze.

    • alyce1213

Button-down shirts with ties make me twitch, but otherwise, very understated and handsome. A solid JGL appearance. His face looks a little shmeary, though – bronzer?

      • majorbedhead

Me, too. It reminds me of the head of the math department.

        • Luneowl

I wish the head of our school’s math dept. looked like this! He wore a pea-green plaid suit every day, had horrible breath and greasy hair and obsessively jingled the change in his pocket (while standing behind you). Come to think of it, that jingling…. D:

          • alyce1213

            Ew. Jingling?

      • Luneowl

Might be the reflection of the orange background onto his skin. I don’t think he messes much with bronzer.

      • kimmeister

What other kind of shirt can be worn with a tie?

        • alyce1213

Oops, I should have said button-down collar. I like a regular collar with ties and prefer button-down collars open at the neck.

      • fursa_saida

Definitely bronzer, which is weird because I can’t recall ever seeing him with it before.

    • NBG

Impeccable. This is a man who consistently puts in the effort. Willis -ing it the F up is a way of life for him.

It also does not hurt that he is as cute as the proverbial button.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

I’m not a huge JGL fangirl (I like him just fine, but I’m not a worshipper – you get it, right?), but I have to say – he is pretty flawless. Fashion-wise, he can do no wrong.

    • putacorkinit

Is he clean shaven or isn’t he? Or is he supposed to be clean shaven but isn’t? Or is he supposed to be stubbly but is actually clean shaven?

      • Denise Plank

I wonder if he just has really fast regrowth.

        • putacorkinit

Perhaps. But I thought these people were surrounded by PR, assistants and stylists at all times who ensure that every inch is on message before they go out in front of the cameras/

          • demidaemon

I think, once the outfit is on and all that, you are stuck with the stubble you got. I can’t imagine anyone–even in Hollywood–whipping out shaving cream and a razor in the limo or putting enough foundation on to cover every stray hair like a drag queen.

    • JauntyJohn

      This. THIS!

Well tailored, smart use of pattern, right colors for his coloring — poise and posture.
It helps to have started in the business young, I am sure, but he looks supremely comfortable with himself in this kind of photo session, and that sells it.
He is consistently the type that wears the clothes — the clothes do not wear him.

      • marlie

He’s that rare creature that started in the business young, but has managed to get to this point without any public implosions or breakdowns. More credit to him for that.

      • Beardslee

He is a nice looking guy, not (to me) a handsome guy, and thus illustrates what a good grooming and well chosen clothes can do for us all.

    • ChaquitaPhilly

      Little Cutie!

    • http://www.twitter.com/anneofnogables AnneNotHathaway

JGL is basically what 10 year-old-me always envisioned JTT would grow up to be. I put my eggs in the WRONG basket.

    • Heather

Cute, but might lay off the foundation a bit?

Re that color combo: I like it, but perhaps the reason that many guys don’t go for such things is that many guys have some form of color blindness. (I mean this sincerely, not as a euphemism.) My ex was color blind and these colors would all have looked like the same shade of mud-brown-grey to him. He stuck to a limited color palette to ensure that he didn’t wear stuff that would clash.

    • Ashleigh

I don’t know why, but I REALLY wish he would smile and show some teeth…
and come out of the closet…but that’s neither here nor there

      • Trickytrisha

Did you really go there? Yes, indeed, that’s neither here nor there nor your fricking business to post here.

      • jjtxgrrl

        Neh. Keep dreamin. hehe.

    • rkdgal

Is there a term for the kind of jacket he’s wearing with the three pocket flaps? (I’ll feel silly if the answer is “yes, it’s called a three-pocket jacket.”)

      • kimmeister

I had to laugh at your post (and no, I do not know the answer). I always wonder if that upper pocket is a functional pocket. If so, it’s very short!

    • marlie

He looks awesome, as usual. :)

    • NMMagpie

Ridiculously confident. I like it. :)

    • MilaXX

I just really like him. He’s not a guy I lust after, but he seems like the sort I’d want to be BFF’s with.

      • formerlyAnon

I perceive him as a guy you don’t lust after on sight, but might after you got to know him, and if you did, he’d be AWESOME long term relationship material.

    • amanda siegelson

i love the shirt – like the suit – but i’m bothered by the tie. i keep thinking a bluer tone to the tie would have been perfect.
but other than that – it’s all working.

    • amanda d

love this. Do we know who made the suit? The placement of the 3rd pocket is brilliant.

    • Cele Deemer

      He’s adorbs.

    • CNM

I love this look. Interesting but not garish. Matching but not overly so.

    • Shawn EH

And no red dot for once! They always make me think he’s just been sold at a gallery!

      • Terrie_S

I’d pay good money for him.

    • formerlyAnon

He always seems like he’d make such a great boyfriend for the stage after you’ve been together forever and want a grown up who hits the shared life marks and has an absorbing independent life and basically does not wear out all your energy and patience just getting through daily existence to the “you & me” time.

ETA: The above means “He looks good, he almost always looks good, and as if he manages to dress and show up on time without creating unnecessary drama or work for at least two other people.” Just kind of, well, filtered through some memories.

      • demidaemon

        THIS 100 times.

    • Adrianna Grężak

He’s an actor who understands that showing up to these events put together is part of his job description

    • Lilak

90% very nice indeed. I’ll gladly grant him that last 10% if someone could explain the crease-y thing the shirt’s doing below the collar, alongside the knot . . . . ??

      • kimmeister

It appears to be happening because the collar buttons are set kind of high rather than right in the tips, plus the tie material might be kind of thick.

        • Lilak

Thx for ‘splainin’ the sartorial physics! Now … can we defend the phenomenon, or must he lose my final 10% approval? ;-)

    • ShaoLinKitten

JGL has crows feet. That makes me feel old. But he is so cute that it doesn’t matter. Sigh.

    • Danielle

      PRESH. Never change.

    • Just Me

Very nice. Working that newly-tenured Professor at his first faculty dinner realness.

    • kbshee

      Good posture is sexy.

    • ewes_urn_aim

That movie he’s plugging looks god-awful.

      • demidaemon

        It’s his directorial debut. :(

    • kimmeister

Teal? It reads more like forest green on my monitor.

    • stephbellard

Guh…I just wanna rub him all over my body.

    • Orange Girl

Thank you guys for continuing to feature him, even though he never really needs much of a critique. He’s just so fine.

    • jjtxgrrl

Perfection. Im looking forward to seeing him become more and more handsome and talented as he grows older….there’s a classic handsomeness about him….like Clooney and Cary Grant.

Sigh. Love him. Must watch 500 days of Summer again soon….

      • altissima

I was thinking along the same lines… This boy’s going to age beautifully.

    • gracedarling

Where’s his little red lapel button? Isn’t that the on/off switch?

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

      Perfection. I love it.

    • fursa_saida

This is all great, as his clothes usually are, but I just desperately itch to move the part in his hair a little further to the side. That no-man’s-land between center and solid side part always makes me twitchy. Maybe it’s just because it’s always such a disaster on me? Am I projecting? (Widow’s peaks can be complicated to wrangle.)

    • Contralto

He is as cute as a bug. Love him!

    • Renaissance_Man_ATL

      Once again, le sigh!

    • jmorino08

Wook at widdle JGL trying to smolder at the premiere of his sexy new movie! He’s sooooo cute!!
