Jennifer Hudson on Live! with Kelly and Michael

Posted on September 06, 2013

Miss Jennifer seems to have wandered off the style reservation lately. She’s been serving up too much muchness.

Jennifer Hudson leaving ABC Studios in New York City following an appearance on “Live! with Kelly and Michael.”

Neither the dress nor the shoes are bad. In fact, they’re pretty great. But we’d never have recommended pairing them together, and we sure as hell would’ve tried to steer her away from the bright pink nail polish and pale pink lips, which are both working overtime to overwhelm our delicate sensibilities.

Also: not loving the bangs.

Everything is a bit… much. I’d like the shoes, size 9.5 please, delivered by Monday though…

  • d4divine

I agree…the elements are competing with one another….#rstylerumbleonthehudson

  • MilaXX

She changed in route from GMA to K & M. I preferred her GMA look much better.

  • Little_Olive

Mostly, none of it is of the style that becomes her. Those shoes are especially tacky.

Send these to Katy Perry. She’ll know what to do.

    • Kate

      Agreed.

    • sagecreek

BTW, I got my sample of her new fragrance in the mail today.

ICK. It’s reminiscent of Avon’s early forays into the fragrance world.

  • Jacquelyn

Spot on, TLo. Either the dress and simple shoes, or the shoes and a simpler dress would have been better.

  • Glam Dixie

    Bless her heart.

  • oatmealpie

    It’s way too Nicki Minaj.

    • decormaven

      Definitely in NM’s wheelhouse.

      • mshesterp

Yep–needs a few more inches on the hem to get out of said wheelhouse.

  • Janet B

It’s all too much; to start, I’d tell her to ditch the hair.

  • GorgeousThings

And let’s not forget the Cher hair.

    • Denise Alden

Yeah, can’t see nothin’ but hair.

  • http://www.wordydoodles.com WordyDoodles

If she wore the dress with simple hair and shoes, I think she could have pulled it off beautifully.

  • kimmeister

She looks like a drag version of herself.

    • Denise Alden

      Yes!

    • Mary

I hesitate to say this because she usually looks lovely, but these pictures made me think of Geraldine–Flip Wilson’s character in the 70s.

  • MarissaLG

She’d be perfect if she was going to the club or a party in that same vein. But for Michael & Kelly? Yeah, too much.

  • GSMSF

Those fans seem a bit much as well. If people screamed at me on the street like that I’d wear shoes that look like weapons too.

    • David Calder

See, I thought those fans were trying to warn her about her outfit.

      • GSMSF

No, that would only be happening if the dress had mesh cutouts showing random body parts, and if she were wearing nude platform pumps.

  • Nicole C

I would love her to be more diva-tastic and move in this direction! Granted, nothing goes well together, but have fun, girl :)

  • NoveltyRocker

I’m surprised that I’d rather the shoes leave this equation than the dress, cuz that’s a pretty chaotic, tight, short dress. But she really could pull it off.

  • Kate

Alfalfa from the Little Rascals called, he wants his parted bangs back.

  • http://heartprintandstyle.com/ Vivi N

Her style has seriously deteriorated once she lost all her weight. When she was plus size, the girl had style…and better hairdos. Now? Meh.

    • sagecreek

Agreed. Honestly, I think she is in a bit of arrested development…she’s trying out all the fashion mistakes she couldn’t make earlier, or thought she couldn’t make, because of her weight. She’s basically a 17yr old, fashion-wise.

  • Dan_In_NYC

If you are Jennifer Hudson and when I see you I think Nikki Manaj, that’s not good. Like, in any way.

  • Clueless_Jock

I kind of love the whole look.

  • bertkeeter

    Better WIGS please!

  • Shazziz

what up with the heinous weave?

  • Imasewsure

“Too much muchness” is much nicer than the drag comments I was going to lead with…. our dear uncles are much kinder than this BK for sure

  • Leah Elzinga

I hate her hair SO MUCH. So much. Like, in the same way that I hate plagues. Like that. But more so.

  • steeg of their own

That is a LOT of dress. I think if she’s going to wear those bangs and that lip color and those shoes, she should leave the dress to Nicki Minaj. It seems more in her wheelhouse.

  • Laurie Landry

    Streetwalker Ware.

  • Qitkat

What a crazyass print. Inspired by creatures of the deep invading someone’s fever dreams. Pucci did it better, although I like this somewhat. I usually ignore shoes as I’m not a shoe person, but those are not morning show shoes.

    • sagecreek

I just don’t think those are Anything shoes, unless “getting paid in singles” is a thing.

  • quiltrx

She’s really drunk her own Kool-Aid at this point, hasn’t she? Come back down to reality, dear.

  • ItsDicey

All the elements together make for some crazy ticky tacky.

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Love the shoes, but not for daytime.

  • LuisaNL

“wondered off the style reservation” hahahahahah excellent! and yes, I HATE THE BANGS.

  • MoHub

    Too much of a muchness.

  • jmorino08

    Is Beyonce’s mom styling her?

  • R. L.

    I love it.

  • Alexander Peterhans

Parted bangs..? Is that a thing?

  • nyazgirl

How has no one commented on the INSANE GUY right over her shoulder ( in the grey t-shirt). Once you see it…

  • http://phantomminuet.blogspot.com/ MinAgain

    Ugly dress. Ugly shoes.

  • sekushinonyanko

Are those Versace shoes? They’re so tacky they scream Versayce…

  • amanda lynn

I just trimmed my own bangs and they look like her bangs. That’s not a compliment for her bangs or my cutting abilities.

  • unbornfawn

    Nailed it again guys.

  • altissima

Looks like a half-baked Nicki Minaj wannabe.

  • kt mac

    Bad, bad bangs.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

Too much hair, not enough skirt. But I agree that the main problem is that the shoes and dress are competing.

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i love it! now that’s some living color.
