Hugh Jackman in Louis Vuitton on the Today Show

Posted on September 19, 2013

The man sure can fill out a shiny suit:

Hugh Jackman seen leaving NBC Rockefeller Center Studios after appearing at the ‘Today Show’ in New York City in Louis Vuitton.

The t-shirt-&-suit look can go “middle-aged douchebag” so easily, but we think Hugh’s demonstrating the correct way of making it look chic: tone-on-tone. Wearing a t-shirt only a few shades darker than the suit itself makes it look like a thought-out and put-together ensemble, rather than a guy who felt like buttons were asking too much of him that day.

Doesn’t it seem like he’s had 15 movies out since Les Miz? Is Anne still taking her post-Oscar nap, or what?

  • I get Smurfy more than chic, but he is undeniably handsome.

    • Mismarker

He can smurf me anytime. ; )

      • Nicole C

I hate that using “smurf” as a verb for, well, smurfing still makes me laugh, but it really does. hehe

  • Frank_821

    He does look damn nice

  • MilaXX

He looks great. Let Annie continue her nap.

    • Mismarker

She can pull a Van Winkle as far as I’m concerned.

      • barbarienne

And this right here might tell us exactly why Annie is sleeping. There are fewer roles for women to begin with, and less tolerance for them doing the Oscar pole dance. Maybe she wants some time to recover, and maybe she’s being choosier with her roles because she can be.

        • Mismarker

First, sometimes snark is just snark. I don’t think Anne reads this site and even if she did, I would like to think she wouldn’t give a rat’s ass what little old mismarker has to say about her.

Second, I agree with all you’ve written. That being said, my comment was certainly not intended as an attack on all actresses. I am well aware of the dearth of good, meaty roles for women (especially older women) in Hollywood. Anne Hathaway is simply not my cup of tea and my indifference to her pre-dates her Oscar pole dance. So, yes, as far as I’m concerned she can be on sabbatical (whatever her reasons) as long as she so chooses.

          • barbarienne

I wondered to myself if my comment sounded as if I was aiming a slap at you, and I should have thought better of it. I apologize, because the slap wasn’t aimed at you or MilaXX in particular, but more at the general situation, which we’re all caught in.

          • Mismarker

No harm, no foul. I probably read more into it than was there. I’ve been known to do that! And, really, tone is difficult to pick up in the written word. ; ) More than anything, I am sorry to have hijacked a perfectly fine Hugh Jackman post with all this nonsense about Anne Hathaway. Let’s get back to the pretty man meat!

          • barbarienne

We can definitely agree on getting back to the visual splendor that is Mr. Jackman!

        • marlie

I agree with you. Guys have SO many more options for roles in between the “serious” ones. It seems like the ladystars are limited to rom-coms or the like.

  • I’d “Bring Him Home” any day.

    (See what I did there?)

    I’ll just…leave.

    • Angela_the_Librarian

      Commencing slow clap…

      • JDreesen

showing up late and starting another slow clap, awkwardly and not at all in time with yours…

  • alyce1213

    I love everything here.

  • Delicious. Thanks T&Lo!

  • majorbedhead

This is better than a cup of coffee.

    • Toby Wollin

      Yep – nothing like a pick-me-up for the morning…

    • aeb1986

especially after the Lindsay Lohan cup of coffee T-Lo threw in our faces this morning

  • lucyloo222

I am now just a melty blob of goo. You have ruined me for the rest of the day. Thank you.

  • WendyD

I love a man who comes with his own Sharpie.

  • Jacquelyn

    Shiny suit is shiny.

  • Angela_the_Librarian

Wish he would have taken the sunglasses off, but that’s a minor quibble. I love that he’s willing to interact with this fans.

    • alyce1213

I have this feeling he thanked the soldier for his service.

    • marlie

I get the impression that he’s always been really fan-friendly, which endears him to me even more.

    • Cz

If that was my camera, I would never let anyone else touch it. Ever.

  • hillmad

Now that is a movie star! Love this guy!

  • mjude

  • Scott Cooper

That t-shirt is a disgrace! It looks like he just wandered out of the gym. It’s too damn big.

  • Cele Deemer

What’s not to like? Holy smokes.

  • BrooklynBomber

Somehow the tone on tone’s not quite working for me, but it could just be that I’m confused and distracted by all the surrounding knitwear and camo.

  • Erica_Vuitton

    HUBBA HUBBA!!!! Nuf said.

  • Violentcello

Look how cute he is trying to work that little pink camera! What a doll.

  • lobsterlen

Hugh does seem sweet. Like he always stops and signs autographs. However Hugh put the cap on that Sharpie marker you are waving about. You are going to get permanent ink marks on that suit.

  • Ten Ten

That first pic. He’s not even trying and he’s winning the race. My God.

  • Sif

Ann has serious trouble growing her hair back ever since she got short hair on Les Mis.

  • YoungSally

Happy Sausage-Friday eve, Mir. Jackman! Shall we celebrate?

  • Mismarker

Sausage Friday comes a day early!

  • imakeart

My only complaint about these pics is his lack of a smile. Man’s got one of the best smiles around (to go with all the other things he has going for him.) Yummy.

  • MzzPants

    Le sigh.

  • CeeQ

    Awww love it.

  • decormaven

Ahh, the perfect preview for Sausage Friday!

    • lobsterlen

Sausage Friday Eve … Its just like Christmas Eve and we get to open one present early!

  • DTLAFamilies

I love him. I love him not only because he is fine, not only because he is insanely talented but also because he apparently really is as nice as he appears. A friend of a friend had her kids at the same school as Jackman and he was super nice and low key with the other parents and very affectionate with his kids. Swoon, I say. Swoon.

But what’s up with the guy in the sweater behind him?

  • flamingoNW

Prisoners is EXCELLENT. Must see. Not a fan of the shiny suit but have to admit he’s making it work. Love him…

    • Mismarker

I don’t know if I can see it. It looks too intense and I don’t do well with a child-in-peril scenario. How is Hugh’s performance?

      • flamingoNW

he’s fantastic, as is Jake Gyllenhaal and Melissa Leo. I can understand if you can’t do the child in peril thing. That’s pretty intense here even if off screen. It’s all about the 4 parents and the cop.

        • Mismarker

Good to know. I’m waiting until Redbox so can have the luxury of pausing and re-grouping, if needed!

  • formerlyAnon

My mental image of him is very much not yet ready for the silk t-shirt & suit, which I think is too, well, very-late-middle-aged-and-holding (& possibly negotiating for what will become a perpetual, annual 12 weeks in Vegas contract) for him.

But look at him leaving the building holding a sharpie, all prepared to be kind to fans. Aaaaawwwww.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

Best looking shiny suit ever. (Love a man who carries his own sharpie)

  • ShaoLinKitten

He is so freaking handsome. That is about as articulate as I can be on the subject.

  • MGMcD

    Ooh. Daddy.

  • jw_ny

Nice suit and I’m ok with a tee paired with it, however I think it would look better if it had more contrast. Those shades do not suit his gorgeous face…

  • Not applicable

thought this was Matthew Perry at first…

    • Scoop

      For shame.

      • Not applicable

i know i know!! but seriously- those first two shots…

  • marlie

Did I miss a day? Is it Sausage Friday already?! I think he looks GREAT.

  • It doesn’t hurt that the hem on those slacks looks just about perfect to me.

  • VicD

  • Scoop

Wait. Not that I’m ignoring the main attraction here, but can we talk about that guy in the sweater? I really love that sweater!

  • Jeff Warhurst

Anne needs to hold out for the The Devil Wears Prada sequel. I loathed her in Les Miserables and still sit shocked that that movie won any award aside from The Golden Raspberry.
