Heidi Klum in Roland Mouret at the 2013 Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Posted on September 16, 2013

Can’t really argue with this:

Heidi Klum attends the 2013 Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, California in a Rolan Mouret gown paired with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry and Jimmy Choo sandals.

Sure, that zipper’s awfully bumpy, but aside from that, this looks great on her. Tight, without being shiny or short. Plus it’s Roland Mouret, who has a knack for making extremely body-con dresses that don’t look vulgar or try-hard. She should consider making him her go-to. Bless her heart, she rarely ever lands on “chic,” and he’s good for that sort of thing. We like that this is relatively simple and low-key. Of course the shoes don’t really go and the earrings are way too big and focus-pulling, but that’s our girl. She never did know how to put a look together.

Love the hair.

  • Diego!

She looks gorgeous!!! I can’t complain either 😀

  • madscntst

The front part of the dress looks like a folded napkin. Nice hair though.

    • Eric Stott

It looks like a NICE folded napkin- if it’s going to be done this is how to do it.

      • demidaemon

Agreed. Normally, that design detail is massively oversized. I much appreciate this understated version, which goes well with the geometric print.

  • decormaven

Very refined look for her. I approve!

    • Clueless_Jock

I especially like how her earrings echo the bodice.

  • Judy_S

She looks beautiful, simply and without qualifications. Which is rare for her.

  • MoHub

Love the front. The back, not so much. But as a whole, a much better look than we’ve seen her in in ages.

  • hughman

Those earrings belong in a Whitesnake video.

    • decormaven

Here I go again… on my own…. Hee hee!

  • NBG

Any day that we all don’t feel like we’re Heidi’s gynecologists is a good day style-wise for her.

  • bellafigura1

Way to screw it up with the earrings, sheesh. Can’t dial down the tacky, ever.

  • ashtangajunkie

She always looks so happy and pretty. The earrings and shoes may have been poor choices, but the dress looks great on her and her face and hair look lovely.

  • Imasewsure

Yes it’s chic but there’s something sort of home-sewn about it too… Do like that she looks like a lovely grown up though

    • gurl boy

Agree …front def looks luving hands at home on band and hem!

  • bertkeeter

Except for the”out” exposed bumpy zipper I love it from the back view. No on the front black hip band.! Heidi looks beatiutiful… Hair makeup n amine! Congratulations on EMMY!

    • Let it out

Yeah, why put an exposed zipper on a beautiful gown?

      • bertkeeter

It was a bad idea ten years ago when it was new! Today it’s just really lame!

  • Erica_Vuitton

I love everything about that first pic, she should just stand like that all night and not turn around.

  • Nikko Viquiera

There’s really something charming about Ms. Klum. Maybe it’s her ever-present smile. Even the fact that she can’t always get it right in terms of her fashion choices make her seem so relatable. I’ve been doing a marathon of PR All stars and I have to say, Klum’s presence really give life to the whole show.

  • Suse

Does anyone else find her as tiresome as I do?

  • Shawn EH

Keibler-esque. Not sure about the black back panel.

  • Jacquelyn

I wonder if you can see those earrings from space.

  • KateShouldBeWorking

Does anyone else catch themselves thinking “Man, Heidi Klum is pretty” and then self-chastise because obviously Heidi Klum is pretty.

    • Sarah

Yeah, I do it all the time. It’s like it’s amazing how pretty she continues to be.

    • kimmeister

I take it to mean that Heidi has a lot of personality, so when you see her you don’t only see the face or the bod. They’re almost like afterthoughts sometimes.

      • KateShouldBeWorking

Homegirl’s a pro: She knows how and when to turn it on. I suppose the same could be said for JLo but I like that Heidi’s version of “it” is sunny and gregarious.

  • Rhonda Shore

very tasteful for Heidi, she even is wearing the right lipstick.

  • Eric Stott

The slit up the back seems a lot more subtle than putting it in the front, and exposes a lot less when she sits.A nice Walking Away dress.

  • MilaXX

Except for the hair and the earrings I like. This is unusually tasteful for Heidi.

  • Meredith

I don’t actually watch PR, only your recaps, but I’ve seen a lot of Heidi Klum pictures- of her in really bad bad dresses. So, I’ve always secretly wondered… why does she get to be a judge on PR?

    • snarkykitten

wasn’t PR her idea to begin with?

    • Frank_821

well I can think of a few reasons

      1) the most obvious is she owns a piece of the show. I imagine it was all part of the original deal that the Weinsteins made with her.

      2) Heidi brought notoriety with her. When the show first started she was the only one with any pre-existing fame. While she was never associated with high fashion, like Iman, her presence served as a draw for an audience.

      3) You’ve got the judging panel of a Model, Editor and Designer. The fact that Heidi was willing to risk being associated with such a huge gamble of a concept sort of gave her dibs on the chair.

It’s funny, it’s easy to forget how low budget the program was when it first came out. Heidi had mentioned in the past how she had to do her own hair & makeup that first season and no formal dressing area. And of course it was a big deal to get any one of note to be the guest judge. Things seriously changed come Season 2 with their budget and all the failed copycats

  • marlie

She looks great! My only other quibble is that I hate dresses that only have the print/pattern on the front. But from the front, she looks outstanding. I even like her hair, makeup and earrings.

  • I’d say she’s on the verge of overexposed, but she does always give us something interesting to talk about.

  • Disagree about the earrings. I think they’re sharp. Big earrings are a Heidi signature and she wears them well.

  • TAGinMO

One of her best looks in a while. If there’s such a thing as “tackily demure,” I think this is it.

  • Stella Zawistowski

Best she’s looked all year. And god, do I want her shoes, whether they go with the dress or not.

  • crash1212

    Beautiful. Nicely done Ms. Klum.

  • jilly_d

I’ll respectfully disagree with my Uncles on the hair, but I do love this gown for her. Simple and eye-catching. Props to HK for always accessorizing with a smile.

  • sagecreek

Wow. I’ve never seen her so classy (earrings notwithstanding).

  • largishbearishAtlish

first reaction was “ooooh, neat”- rarely have I had that reaction on anything she wears. A true compliment!! love the detail on the dress, fascinating. please Heidi, wear this designer again- really looks great on you. (and not shiny!)

    • conniemd

She looks as good as I’ve seen her in ages. Not only is the dress sexy without being tacky, her face looks younger.

  • formerlyAnon

I do like it when she gets out of her own way and lets everyone appreciate how gorgeous she really is.

  • Michelle Wilson

That dress looks like it was made with her in mind. She needs one in every color!

  • A Shiny O’Connor

It’s a forking mess. Busiest minimalism I’ve ever seen. And the hair and earrings are fierce but don’t belong to this look.

  • jmorino08

She and Tim won the Shmemmy for best reality hosts and that, my friends, is WHACK!

    Kat Deeley 4LYFE!

  • Sweetvegan

She looks great, but I wish she would wear designs from PR designers more often. Especially when she’s going to an event related to the show!

  • CatherineRhodes

Really? You love the hair — mermaid meets Heidi?

  • DesertDweller79

This is a really nice look for her! I like it. Well, except the zipper on the back. And the earrings, which do look like they’re from a White Snake video, as someone mentioned in a comment below. But, I like the print, and I love the front of the dress. And I like her hair and makeup.
