I’ll grant Paula Patton this — she’s made everything else today look fresh and new and touched by angels.

    • teensmom99

I was wondering why the illusion netting has ceased to both me and I think you hit the nail on the head. I’m just grateful when they look more tasteful than PP!

    • Vickiefantastico

      This! So this!

  • Hoffa_w_HerHead

In theory, I love this dress. But in practice, it appears to be dragging her down- the hair doesn’t help! When feathers don’t appear “light and fluffy,” there is a mistake in execution.

    • giddypony

Exactly,it looks like she is one golf clap from having it all collapse around her ankles.

    • styrch

I totally think it’s the hair. From the side this is great. And I think the color is great on her. But the direction of the dress is definitely “Down”. She should be doing something with her other assets to create lift. Perky hair and perky “girls”.

    • Nonnah

Shoulders back! Chin up! Posture!!!! I think it could have made a world of difference.

I kind of love, but I might be too straight to be a great judge. It may just be my love for Heather Graham that’s clouding my judgement here. It’s an interesting dress. Her hair color is almost the same color as the non-green parts of the dress, which isn’t a great effect.

    • 3boysful

This is an interesting dress, and on a woman of color, or simply one with darker coloring than Heather, this might be stunning. Esp if said woman did something to her hair.

      • livesarah

        Paula Patton?

  • Dated, too heavy, ill fitting and generally unflattering.

  • Mrs. Julien

    Two words: spaghetti straps.

Also, she is looks lovely and she got to wear a dress by Naeem Khan, so win/WIN.

  • Sobaika

The dress is magic. But it’s not working on her or some reason – the hair is wrong and the dress needs to be hoisted up a few inches.

    • decormaven

Needs some jewelry up high to balance out the heavy feathering detail on the hem.

    • Nancer

I think this is because the color of the underlying dress isn’t quite right for her, that’s why it isn’t working. It does look like it is slipping on her, though that side view is beautiful.

    • yesknopemaybe

This dress is all wrong for her complexion. I think a woc could really rock the shit out of it.

  • RussellH88

On the model, it looks like the dress tries to create a nude effect, but the shade that Heather is wearing makes it look like she had jaundice.

    But it’s nice.

  • Introspective

it feels too low on the girls. like a wardrobe malfunction is waiting in the wings.

but the dress itself is quite pretty. beautiful color.

  • SewingSiren

Pretty pretty mermaid doll. I want one.

  • Jaeda Laurez

THE dress is lovely, but the hair is blah and she needs jewelry. A bracelet, a ring, some studs, SOMETHING.

    • MilaXX

Should have scrolled down. I just wrote almost the exact same thing.

  • H2olovngrl

That seems like a bit too much dress for her. Perhaps if she hadn’t flat ironed her hair and wore more jewelry she could be pulling this off. I dunno…an updo, maybe?

    • teensmom99

      No maybe about it.

  • enuma

Add a lace front red wig and this could double as a couture Ariel costume for Halloween.

  • Kent Roby

The dress is interesting and striking, and she looks really pretty (and very appropriate for the venue).

  • eowyn_of_rohan

Couture by The Little Mermaid. Thank God she used a dinglehopper to comb her hair.

  • BrooklynBomber

    Too fucking much.

  • TrixieConQueso

    Peacock Drag Queen for Halloween?

  • It leaves me wondering what the color looked like when not being washed out by the intense lighting. And I wish Heather had done something other than the straight, center part thing for her hair.

    • GillianHolroyd

Right. It looks teal on the model and the background/underneath is neutral. So it’s possible that this looked better in person.

  • Emily Smith

    Mermaid trapped in seaweed.

  • Janet B

Truly dislike that Heather is styled nearly same as the model; middle part/straight hair and no jewelry whatsoever! I could have done that for a lot less.

  • Titscrepancy, and the wrong hair for the job but it’d be the perfect foundation for a formal Little Mermaid costume for Halloween.

  • Jessica Freeman

I really love the dress, but why would that be the default hair?

  • RoseJB

Don’t blame the dress, when it’s the wearer that isn’t doing it justice. I think it’s the styling that’s making the dress look dated (especially that boring hair!). This dress, styled differently, on a different actress, would be a winner. Especially if a woman with some colour wore it.

    • Hetha Innis

Yes, I’d love to see this on brown skin. That would really make it sing.

    • filmcricket

I even think this actress could have pulled it off if it had been styled properly – updo, with a good necklace. But yes, in general, send this dress to Fan Bing Bing, or perhaps to Naomie Harris? (I was going to say Kerry Washington, but she’s so petite I feel like the feathers would overwhelm her).

  • Terri Terri

That dress looks like it’s going to suck her into the ground like quicksand.

  • amanda siegelson

i think heather’s face looks great – i have a feeling that if the dress colour is closer to the model picture version, it’s way more appealing than it appears here.
but forget heather – does anyone else find it hard to look at the model picture – she’s too freakin’ thin! – her bones are so distracting!

  • HM3

    I kind of love this.

    • Garcia Loca

I do too. And mostly because of Heather, even though the dress itself is lovely and somewhat thematically appropriate for a Eugene Onegin night. But it fits Heather’s luminous persona so well, that’s just a cherry, whipped cream, and chopped almonds on my fashion sundae!

  • RedRaven617

Stand up straight for God’s sake! It will improve the look greatly.

    • sagecreek

After the Lena Dunham fiasco, I’m starting to think that every red carpet needs someone just off camera hissing, “posture, missy!”

  • lrober03

Rule #1: Don’t match your dress to your hair.

  • ConnieBV

Dress is lovely but the fit is off. Also, she needed some EARRINGS. Still, she looks sweet and clean so yay.

  • Nexli B

Her boobs look sad. I think it’s a combination of bad posture and weird cup angle. Whatever it is, I sort of want to hug them and say “It gets better!”

  • MilaXX

I don’t get the point of borrowing an expensive dress and then not completing the look. Where are her jewels? An earring, a necklace, bracelet, ring, something! and why is she wearing daytime hair? I guess I should be happy she put makeup on ? *sigh*

    • Jaeda Laurez

      Ha! #GreatMinds :-}

  • I think I love this. I’d like to see it move, and I wonder how it would look in person. I generally like strapless gowns when they fit right, and this one does. I think the gown is very beautiful but in a way she looks like she’s surrounded by a tall forest.

  • mhleta

I love it on the model and I love the idea of it on her but the bust doesn’t fit right at all. Her cup runneth over, or outwards.

  • Imasewsure

Never thought she could disappear in to a dress but all I see is the dress…

  • kimmeister

The base color of the dress is making her look sallow. But my goodness, she hasn’t aged a day in like 15 years!

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

    Gorgeous. Bitch doesn’t age!

  • CommentsByKatie

I want to love this; but I’m not sure the colors are working. I can’t think of anything that would work better than nude, but I don’t like the nude. It looks a little flamboyant or 80’s or something to me, and not in a good way. Needs to be darker or lighter; this in-between is garish.

    • alinana

Agreed. I think I like the dress but there is just something about it on her that doesn’t seem to be working.

  • AmeliaEve

This is an amazing dress. She seems to be frightened by it.

  • Sam Smith

I like the color, but the dress looks and heavy and even seems to be drooping and dropping.

  • pepper76

I disagree with most of the Bitter Kittens. I think the hair is the only thing keeping this even remotely modern.

  • imakeart

    Rollergirl goes to the opera??

  • Lesley

i’m major ariel the little mermaid vibes. never been a huge fan of feathers on a gown, reminds me of a vegas show girl. not loving this.

  • Is she playing the Lady of the Lake in a King Arthur movie? Because it looks like she rose up through a ton of algae that stuck to her dress.

  • bertkeeter

Without the crap on the bottom, YES…otherwise NO,NO,NO!

  • oatmealpie

    I’M MEEEEeeeelting….

  • Jacquelyn

    Shoulda stayed under da sea.

  • Big Bear

Well, better cross her off my ‘Not sure if alive or dead’ list.

  • boweryboy

She looks like she should have Waylon Flowers’ hand up her dress.

  • marlie

This is not Heather Graham’s dress. The lining is too yellow against her skin tone, the bodice doesn’t fit her well at all, and I hate her hairstyle.

  • Kimberlini

What happened to her boobs? They’ve disappeared!

  • Jai Piper

the illusion netting is the wrong color for her skin tone.

  • allcapsERINN

Love it! Bummed that she forgot her jewelry though.

  • quiltrx

It’s really pretty but it looks cumbersome. Kudos to her for picking something attention-getting and different, while still having class.
(something in the bodice is amiss, though…)

  • Very pretty but the hair. The hair. Can’t we have some hair with a little romance to it. You are covered in feathers Heather, the flat hair is no-go.

  • demidaemon

This just proves the problems with showing an unlined dress and then lining it for the real world. Suddenly what seemed pretty (minus the sheer shit, of course) suddenly looks like paint-splattered walls. Yuck.
