Emma Watson for GQ UK Magazine

Posted on September 05, 2013

Emma Watson is British GQ’s Woman of the Year and for that, she gets the big-hair treatment.

Emma Watson covers the October 2013 issue of GQ Magazine photographed by Vincent Peters and styled by Penny Lovell.

Emilio Pucci Fall 2013 Collection

It works for her. Not crazy about the makeup. though. Or the clothes, for that matter. Isn’t that just the way with the “straight” men’s fashion mags?  They get a chance to dress a girl up and they give her a see-through top and a blowout and call it a day.

Pretty sure Harry’s wishing he chose Hermione these days.

    • In_Stitches

Chose? I don’t think she gave him the option.

      • deelup

        I disagree. But yeah, joke.

  • Glam Dixie

Boring. They could have done much better. Swat on the nose with a rolled up newspaper for GQ

  • hughman

The “Les Miz” pose on the cover is old now.

  • NMMagpie

I would love to see some more color in her face. The images are just too monotone lazy for me.

  • Donna Tabor

“Rupert Murdoch’s Dating Techniques”? You mean he does something more than dangle money around? Because that’s about all he has going for him.

So cool to see Emma Watson chosen for this. Our little girl’s all grown up.

    • conniemd

I thought he was married. Wasn’t it his wife who attacked someone at a hearing in England when they were investigating that World News Daily or whatever the English paper he bought out was doing wiretapping people. She was Asian and about 40 years his junior IIRC>

      • JulieTy

Yes. Wendi. They have separated and are divorcing.

  • Sobaika

Not sure what’s with the ‘lost little girl’ expression on the cover, but she does look very pretty. It’s hard for her not to.

    I mean it’s pretty, but….

  • mmebam

    Hallelujah, she’s wearing clothes!

Yes, that is where I am re: GQ.

    • Nicholas

British GQ. Guess they don’t have their version of Terry Richardson.

      • mmebam

        Fair enough.

  • Nikko Viquiera

I’m just happy that she’s not half naked! phew!

  • MilaXX

Yeah not her best look. I really don’t like any of the choices here.

  • Trickytrisha

Uh, can she really turn her head that far? The “over the shoulder” cover shot looks more like she’s about to crank her head all the way around. Ah well, she’s lovely, but GQ blew it. She deserves better pics.

    • BP180

She learned it by watching Hedwig.

      • Trickytrisha

Heh, I just spent a few minutes watching video from Hedwig and the Angry Inch trying to figure out your comment. Then I had one of those “lightbulb over the head” moments and remembered the owl.

  • jmorino08

Just reading the headline “Rupert Murdoch’s Dating Techniques” gives me the heebie jeebies! No thank you!!

    • shorty j

god, that sounds like an Onion article if there ever was one.

  • sockandaphone

since this is a British GQ post – would love to see what TLo thinks of the other covers (hint hint the Arctic Monkeys one with all of them in VERY nice suits)

  • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

Have they shopped her teeth out? I’m sure we should see teeth in that first one!

  • mjude

i just adore her. but she looks sad :(

  • Linda LaPaz

    She has a perfect nose.

  • Delilah

She looks very Rose Byrne-ish in that first pic. Pretty, but sad.

    • majorbedhead

I was thinking she looked like HBC circa Lady Jane.

    • Nondescript

That was my thought too. Not sure if it’s angle or photoshop, but she’s a dead ringer for Rose Byrne in that cover shot.

  • Adrianna Grężak

I think the cover is quite striking

  • formerlyAnon

She’s pretty and I do like her hair as photographed. So, mission accomplished, though the bar was apparently set low.

    • Nondescript

Pretty girls are an integral part of men’s fashion and lifestyle. :)

      • formerlyAnon

        I overlook the basics, sometimes!

  • sagecreek

I want Taylor Swift to look at the way that model wears the short shorts. SO MUCH BETTER.

  • Jacquelyn

    I think she looks great!

  • TweeAsFuck

Weird. She looks like Rose Byrne on the cover.

  • Qitkat

Pretty girl always, but I just don’t think of her as a *big-haired* gal for regular. It looks great here though.

  • GorgeousThings

You don’t think that looks a little “Downton Abbey Season 1”? That was what I thought when I saw her.

  • Diego!

I love the second picture better than the cover. On the cover her left eye is kinda weird…

  • macwell

I think she looks gorgeous. More so than I think I’ve ever seen her.

  • http://www.facebook.com/outsidedog William Wilson

Everything said here is true, but GOOD LORD, nothing can diminish that profile…

  • Corsetmaker

A bit of a tricky operation designing a cover for a mag like GQ that features a woman. They’ll want to position themselves as far away as they can from the tacky lad’s mags like Nuts etc, but at the same time not lose shelf recognition by being confused with Women’s fashion magazines. I think they’ve made a pretty good job of it. Muted, almost monotone is fairly masculine and in keeping with their usual house style and she’s subtly sexy and pretty to appeal to their readers (anything too ‘fashion’ wouldn’t have) and grown up enough to separate her from her child star past. Tightrope successfully navigated I’d say.

  • Anplica Fiore

Hello HBC Jr! Wow, but that cover shot looks just like her!

  • lobsterlen

She has beautiful eyebrows. Perfect shape and style.

I feel like her perfect eyebrows are wasted on GQ men ….straight men rarely notice unless a woman has unibrow.

  • Pudgy Possum

I think her face is gorgeous here, actually. Maybe the best I’ve ever seen it, though I didn’t see the Vogue issue yet. I agree about the see-through blouse though–some things never change.
