Emilia Clarke in Donna Karan Atelier at the HBO’s 2013 Emmys After Party
For some odd reason, there seem to be no pictures of her walking the Emmys red carpet, even though she wore this dress during the ceremony. We would have loved to have seen this in better lighting, because we have a feeling we’re not getting the true color here.
“Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke attends HBO’s Annual Primetime Emmy Awards Post Award Reception at The Plaza in Los Angeles, California in a Donna Karan Atelier chalk blue 3-ply silk georgette gown with geometric leaf textured cut-outs paired with a Rauwolf clutch and Forevermark jewelry.
We think it’s gorgeous, but it’s also wearer-specific. A blandly pretty gal would be lost in this dress and it would wind up looking like tissue paper on her. And it could also skew a bit mature, depending on who’s wearing it. But she’s tiny, young, and intense-looking, which means she’s selling the dress like crazy. It’s pretty and dramatic, with some textural interest, but you never really stop looking at her face, which is as it should be. Loving the touches of silver, but someone needed to take a Windex wipe to that belt before she hit the step-and-repeat.
By the way, who is the hyperactive marketing person that came up with this step-and-repeat? Is it designed to make everyone look bad and induce nausea in all who view it? If so, then well done, genius.
