Claire Danes in Valentino at the Homeland Season 3 Premiere

Posted on September 11, 2013

You guys! Claire Danes got MARRIED on the red carpet!

Claire Danes attends a premiere screening for Season 3 of “Homeland” in Washington, D.C. in a Valentino dress paired with Stuart Weitzman shoes, a Valentino clutchm and Jamie Wolf jewelry.

Valentino Resort 2014 Collection

Congratulations, Claire! Oh, wait. You’re already married. And there seems to be no groom standing next to you. Our bad.

Okay, maybe picking the floor-length version for flash-heavy picture-taking that erases all the pink accents wasn’t the best idea.  Really pretty dress, though. And the hair looks fab.

CANNOT WAIT for the new season. We have no idea where it’s going to go next.

I like that she took the skirt full-length, but the bodice is too long on her from the neck to the top of the bust and is kind of hanging droopily, whereas it fits snugly on the model.

    • Yeah, the shape is off somehow. It doesn’t look “soft” so much as “saggy.” The clutch is cute, though.

      • forward_slash_PRS

        thank you – I thought she was carrying a harmonica . . .

    • Targettaste

I think that’s because the armpit is cut so low; adds to the droopiness.

      • Sarah

The armholes are so unfortunate. Bitch is tiny, but something in the dress or her bra (or both) are giving her pit issues.

        • fursa_saida

Sometimes I despair of ever finding clothes with armholes that are actually right (for me, anyway). They’re always too big and low and leave me with all this bunchy fabric around my armpits. And I don’t even have small arms, like, at all (my mom and I both have broad shoulders and naturally big biceps).

    • I don’t think she chose it floor length. I think she’s just THAT much shorter than the model. That’s why the bodice, and arm holes are too long.

      • MoHub

That’s a distinct possibility, especially as the waist seam is sitting lower on her than on the model. Still, I like the longer length skirt and just wish it wasn’t a matter of the entire dress being too long.

        • End of the day, fit is EVERYTHING.

          • conniemd

I don’t know anything about how stylists do this stuff, but I would look
at the runway picture and then my star. I’m sure you are exactly right
that the fit is off because the model is so much taller and thus has a
longer torso. It’s easier to see that the fit is off when you can
compare it with how the designer intended the clothing to look.

          • Right? Simple axiom. If it don’t fit, don’t wear it.

          • decormaven

Stylist fail- if that gown had been properly fitted, this would have been WERQ- worthy to me.

          • ConnieBV

Yep. I had to look up who styled her to see. According to Marie-Claire, it’s Petra Flannery who also works with Zoe Saldana, Emma Stone, and Mila Kunis. Makes sense because they also have lots of cool style with the occasional WTF.

I agree. I don’t think it’s even hitting the floor anyway. Looks like the photographers were above the carpet, shooting down so it only looks like it’s floor length. To me, it looks like it’s hitting some awkward spot on her ankle. I think it could actually look pretty good if the bodice was the correct length for her and it was actually floor length.

        • ballerinawithagun

Your point about the photographers is very good. She looks beautiful though.

          • fursa_saida

When her kid with Dancy gets older it’s probably going to be a stunner. The two of them have ridiculous genes.

        • Rhonda Shore

yep…tea length is cuter, but she still looks fab and i can’t wait for the new season of Homeland! Was watching reruns this past weekend…

      • MilaXX

You’re right, but she needed stronger jewelry to help bring out the pink. A pink bag doesn’t help. A bracelet or ring would have been nice.

  • Diego!

She looks like the White Queen of Narnia! Hair is FAB!!! I don’t like her make up, it’s too washed out, and I would have kept the original lenght of the dress on the red carpet in order to avoid the bridal comments hahaha 😛

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Love this – it’s not too bridal for me. She’s got the perfect coloring to pull off white without looking washed out.

  • Introspective

DYING for homeland to start. seriously.

not dying over this dress though.

  • Jacquelyn

I think she looks fantastic. Really like the clutch.

  • Targettaste

It can’t be a bridal gown. ALL bridal gowns are strapless.

    • Sarah

No kidding. I’m in the market for one and I was looking on Ebay. If you narrow your search to anything with sleeves, the options go down to just a few. I’m not mad at my arms or anything, but I’ve got some tats I’d prefer to cover on the big day. And no, I don’t want to wear a damned bolero!

      • Targettaste

“I’m not mad at my arms” gave me a chuckle. Good luck in your bridal shopping (and wedding).

  • Love!

  • zenobar

This is reading very Fanning to me.

  • shirab

The hairstyle looks great, but the roots! Is that a thing, to have dark roots on purpose? Because the ladystars so often have them in formal situations that I have to think it’s a conscious choice. One I don’t understand.

In other news, the very preg. Morena B. was at this event and looked fantabulous.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

I saw her – yes, gorgeous!!

    • Maybe she’s timing the touch-up for a more important event?

    • pop_top

Some of the blond wigs people wear now (see Nikki Minaj) have very obvious dark roots, or have been died that way post purchase presumably because that makes it look closer to actual hair. However, I have no idea why someone who isn’t wearing a wig would have those roots.

    • Alanna

I assumed that Danes kept the roots (as Carrie) last season because she was heavily pregnant and didn’t want to be around chemical dyes. So maybe she’s doing the same thing this year for the sake of character consistency…?

  • AnnaleighBelle

    She’s looking very blonde.

  • CPK1

and Jennifer Garner can be her bridesmaid in that hideous red lace/beige satin dress from yesterday.

  • She looks presh!

  • If I remarry, that’s the dress I want to wear.

  • fringebenefit

I would not leave the house with roots that bad, but maybe that’s just me.

  • Jaeda Laurez

I love the dress, so pretty. But it needs stronger jewelry. Without it, it looks like really pretty curtains.

  • marlie

It’s pretty, but a little boring. Same with the hair and makeup. Maybe it would have been different if the lights hadn’t washed it out so.

  • Little_Olive

I don’t find it all that bridal. Maybe too relaxed, but she looks happy and very very pretty.

  • MilaXX

I agree, floor length definitely the wrong choice here, but she looks great otherwise. Those few clips I saw online of Homeland are killing me.

  • Claudia

She’s on my irrational love list – if there is such a catergory. I think she just always looks radiant and beautiful!

  • Tuneful54

Just ugh. I am pretty tolerant but I can’t stand her, including for her arrogance (e.g., in Vogue about being above taking roles that are for the little people) and her cruddy chapter with Crudup. The recent tongue-bath pieces in magazines don’t help.

  • ThaliaMenninger

    I think she looks fantastic.

  • Danielle

Gorgeous, and I really love that she took the skirt to the floor. It would have made her stumpy otherwise.

  • At least (as far as I can see) she didn’t wear those twee-ass ballet flats.

  • Monabel

    Debutante in 1967. Really.

  • MzzPants

I was bored by the thumbnail.

  • Candigirl1968

I know Claire likes a clean look, but this needs to be edged up kinda way to take it out of bridal.

  • Lilak

Viewed closer (which is the space she’s actually inhabiting, you know, in person), the pink in the fabric has more of a presence that helps lead the gown away from ‘bridal’ . . .
In any event, I say bridal-schmidal: She looks absolutely RADIANT.

  • guest2visits

I think the waist is the tiniest bit long on her, otherwise – very pretty.

  • Kristy Sheldon

Definitely underwhelmed. She has so much more to show off! WTF?
