Cat Deeley in Badgley Mischka at the 2013 Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Posted on September 16, 2013

Miss Cat keeps it simple, which seems to have been a theme with the Shmemmys this year.

Cat Deeley attends the 2013 Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, California in a Badgley Mischka dress paired with Jimmy Choo shoes and clutch, Le Vian earrings, and Demarco ring.

Badgley Mischka Fall 2013 Collection

In fact, we’d go so far as to say this is pretty damn perfect. If nothing else, she chose her accessories very well. Sure, it’s all matchy, but those shoes and earrings are gorgeous – and perfect with the dress. Besides, a “pop of color,” like red shoes or an orange bag or something like that, would have been way to distracting. Sometimes a white dress and some well-applied sparkle is all a girl needs.

    One of her better looks.

  • GorgeousThings

It also helps that she’s 6 feet tall and has the body of a model. I was rooting for her to win the reality show host award. I just love her.

  • Goddess!

  • kimmeister

She looks fantastic. As I scrolled down her look, I came up with zero criticisms and wondered what TLo could possibly come up with in that department. Guess we were on the same page!

  • Aidan B

Magnificent! Best I’ve ever seen her look!

  • Rand Ortega

Although thanks to Kathy Griffin upping them to must attend status, they’re still the “Schmemmys”. They don’t warrant the pomp & circumstance of next Sunday’s gala. So I think that’s why there’s less glitz & glam.
    Ms. Deeley looks quite stunning.

  • fiestyfashionfem

Gosh – she looks SOOOO much better in the dress than the model. Amazing what a healthy(ish) weight will do for a gal.

    • Kat

Body snarking is absolutely not allowed on this site. Just talk about the clothes. It’s one thing to say someone who is a bit more busty or a little less hippy (or whatever) looks better, but talking about weight and saying what is healthy and what is it is completely uncalled for and TLo does not stand for it. Many a comments have been deleted before…

      • fiestyfashionfem

There is body snarking – and then there is naming a dysfunctional and problematic issue in fashion and modeling – the diminishing bodies and identities of girls and women. A criticism of a CLEARLY skeletal body that is supposed to be some ideal of beauty (because she is a MODEL) isn’t snarking. It is calling attention to a system that perpetuates unrealistic ideals for women and girls. I get to enjoy fashion AND be critical of the system at the same time.

        • Kat

I’m sorry you feel that way, but this website is about fashion. You can take your critiques of the system elsewhere. TLo has made it quite clear that we are not to comment on people’s figures, be they big or small. As a woman who has been exceptionally thin (and perfectly healthy) all my life, these comments hurt me.

People can be beautiful REGARDLESS of their size, not because of it. People like Octavia Spencer, Rooney Mara, and Christina Hendricks prove this. All various sizes, but all stunningly beautiful.

Again, please focus on the clothes. That’s what this site is about. If you’d like to bash on the broken system of fashion, there are likely thousands of other blogs out there. I’ve enjoyed the fact that TLo has been a blog strictly about the fashion and not the ‘drama’. It’s so refreshing.

You know, for me this stance would be more comfortable if some of the modeling and magazine industry itself wasn’t addressing it officially by at least claiming to not employ models that they are aware of having eating disorders. It *is* an issue of concern in the industry, and we as consumers of media about the industry have an interest as well … we want the lovely young women who model these clothes to be healthy and treated properly.

I’m sure this is a controversial and difficult subject and often not enforced, but at least it’s a step in the right direction.

That said, TLo do (does?) have a no body snarking rule, which may not be obvious, I suspect, to many who read and use this site. But “strictly about the fashion”? Well, we are a very opinionated lot and I doubt that mooning over Kit Harington can be considered “strictly about the fashion”, nor talking about favorite TV shows either.

        • It’s body-snarking and it’s not allowed. Please don’t do it again. It’s not up for debate.

  • Trickytrisha

Lots of gorgeous here. Now if we could just stop her saying “Here are your JEDGES!” on the show….

    • e jerry powell

And even better, get her to throw rocks at Nigel at every opportunity.

  • e jerry powell

Too bad she lost again, but at least this time it was to Frau Klum and Daddy Tim.

    • par3182

      She was robbed (again).

  • AnnaleighBelle

I love this woman, and you can really tell what an asset a good host is to a reality show. She really is the captain of the ship on So You Think You Can Dance…

She’s on the top of my dinner party wish list.

    • Have you read her interview where she talks about the pool party/barbecue she throws for the contestants every year? She said it has gotten out of control and now there are so many people from past seasons who come it turns in to a who’s who of the dance world. THAT is a night I would sacrifice a baby animal to attend.

    • Alloy Jane

I love that SYTYCD is less a show and more a window into dance culture. If only American Idol had that integrity. Alas…

      • demidaemon

Nowadays, I think The Voice is the leader in the singing competitions. The cast is usually universally talented, it does focus on the actual important parts of the music business (genre, voice, stage presence) and the judges/coaches are all pretty interesting and there is consistency in the panel. Every show–in my opinion–that has had Simon Cowell involved has become catty, degrading, or not really talent based.

  • alyce1213

She’s really a lovely woman and I don’t only mean the pretty face. She has enormous poise, class and confidence.
(Heidi Klum: this is what you wear big ass earrings with)

  • Matthew Davie

I love her and the dress. The shoes? Much less so.

  • greyhoundgirl

I really like her personality. Seems genuine, fun and smart. And I love that she is letting herself have some lines around and between her eyes and she looks fantastic.

  • Jacquelyn

She’s like a tall marble statue. Man. How long are her legs?? I kinda wish she had made her lipstick a bigger color; her face is just a bit off for me.

  • bertkeeter

    Heidi take note’

  • demidaemon

I think this the best she’s looked when featured on this blog.

  • boweryboy

I like everything except the shoes.

  • flamingoNW

Of course she’s wearing shoes that are 6 ft high. But she looks great!

  • Nicola Anna Molly Page

She’s come a long way since SMTV Live 🙂 I really need to see if I can find ‘Chums’ online, it was hilarious!

I know it wasn’t the *real* Emmys, but I’m so damn excited that The Lizzie Bennet Diaries won an award! Such a fantastic web show.

    • Eclectic Mayhem

For years and years the Beeb had been kicking ITV’s arse with Saturday morning kids tv and then along came SMTV Live – I was in my 20s when I was watching it! Stripping Vicars, Wonky Donkey, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Ant’s (or Dec’s?) crush on Libby… All hugely enjoyable!

  • GreenTurtle

Gorgeous! Love the hair- small thing, but so many get the formal version of this wrong and come off as too disheveled or “beachy” for the gown.. Cough, cough, Aniston.

  • decormaven

Great selection of accessories! While I’m not a fan of the chunky strap sandal, it’s in proportion to the banding detail on the dress. Well played!

  • largishbearishAtlish

odd comment but I really like how they moved the detailing ‘down’ on her (versus the model), on the model its hidden on her it shows up and well, it add more to the look (tho its hidden in the hair). nicely done! catches the eye.

  • Jessica O’Connell

This is one of VERY few times when I don’t feel as though she should just turn around and go back home. Good job, Cat.

  • alwaysanswerb

Why hasn’t she won her category yet?? UGH!

  • Erica_Vuitton

GORGEOUS!! I love the subtle sparkle on the shoulder strap and the fact that she wears crazy tall shoes even though she like 6′ 1. She is SUCH a better host (live TV is completely different than edited/scripted TV) than Klum. Totally robbed!!

  • marlie

    She looks pretty great!

  • H2olovngrl

    Personal best, in my opinion.
