Bibhu Mohapatra Spring 2014 Collection

The first half really works for me. Once we get to the evening wear, I get lost.
Yeah, the silk prints were just gorgeous. I really wanted to see some evening gowns with those prints. The gowns were mundane compared to the rest. There were two long dresses in the prints, but they were more casual resort wear than red carpet.
my bf’s sister just got Nissan Maxima just by working online with a lap-top. see this here ►►►►►► ＰＯＲＴ６０．ＣＯＭ
Ditto. I especially like the separates. I will say that the last gown, while not to my taste, would probably make a very nice RC look for someone, maybe a B-lister who hasn’t worked her way up to Valentino yet.
Last two gowns are very made-from-the-curtains-looking. Not me likey.
Who has curtains made of silk chiffon covered in roses?
Some of the gowns look less than well-fitted. That gives me a sad.
I’m particularly unfond of the color choice there. You need to be a certain skin tone to pull those off, and the models chosen for those looks get washed out with the color.
What all the sad, petulant women will be wearing this spring.
But the last two are obviously based on the beautiful ballroom dancing gowns I loved to watch growing up in the 80s.
A pretty collection. The day dresses in particular are just great.
I really like the sort of stain glass looking pieces. So much pretty today.
Yes. Those were the ones I really responded to.
me too! and love belt too, they are amazing!
The first half is all a bit too prim for me but I LOVE the gowns. Especially that next to last greenish one.
Loads of Yeahs (love the day dresses with the print and glass pannel skirt/dress), few Nays (most of the evening dresses).
And I like the shoes a lot better than most of what I have seen at NYFW.
I feel like I’ve just seen a live showing of Cate Blanchett’s closet.
Holy crap, I know there’s a Carrie remake coming out, but was it really time for an homage to a bloody prom dress? (The red and white around the middle of the pack; it’s all I could think of.)
The green gown second from the bottom is nice, though.
Pretty pretty pretty
Gorgeous prints that remind me of Me Company.
There is color, pattern, and texture that are very spring appropriate. I like it.
It seems like, with a lot of the other collections, the designers lose sight of the fact that they’re designing clothes for spring – rather than “spring” clothing for celebrities to wear in fall.
A few truly gorgeous pieces here. More that I’m not nuts about – hating those clunky shoes. I need to develop a better eye for the actual clothing because I let the styling influence my perceptions too much. At least half of these models look like they are half asleep or bored out of their minds.
The fractured “glass” print gown is stunning. The rest of the collection, however, is just ugly.
I find myself puzzled by most of these.
I guess Im in the minority, I love almost all of this. Unique shapes and textures, and I love the shoes. The separates are superior to the gowns, but there are still some showstoppers. Seriously, I need those shoes.
What stands out are those metal pieces: the belt and necklace. Wowza. The prints and the flowiness are very pretty too.
Love the black / white / orange print.
genuine question: what is the mod part of this collection? I can’t spot the influence.
You’re lightning-fast! That comment was intended for the Ralph Lauren collection, and was moved to the RL2014 thread seconds after being posted. This collection’s mod-free.
haha, I thought so! Also, completely agree, re RL Yes, I’m kind of a TLo junkie these days, so there’s a good chance I’ll be here clicking on “new comment”
Those are some ugly shoes, making even the 6′ tall models look stumpy.
Some pretty looks, especially that seafoam green gown.
Wow, a collection of clothes from a designer that actually loves women? I love the cardigan and the aqua skirt in #9. Lots of Pretty here, Thanks!
Without needing to show their nipples, at that!
This collection is kind of up and down for me. There are some absolutely beautiful pieces, some that are just meh, and a few that are really hideous. Still, interesting and worth tracking.
Pretty. I like the color scheme and the prints, but I think some of the pieces have a little too much going on. Still, very pretty.
This is so nice, I actually love this collection.
Love the baggy, flow-y separates. Not so much the structured stuff. The prints are beautiful
Quite a bunch of RC-ready pieces, esp. the gowns. I’m not an experct, but I can’t stand the dusted-rose pink ones sprinkled with three-dimentional flowers; pretentious.
23 Hell nos and 8 yeses. How the heck do you plualize a yes?
I could see many of these working beautifully for FLOTUS.
I really like the ‘shattered’ effect on some of the looks.
Otherwise, this is a very pretty collection, but these look like the very definition of “difficult to pull off” looks to me.
I love the fabric; I love most of the designs but I would have preferred either different models or differently styled models. I tend to like the glamorous stick figure or a dramatic leanness of Garbo or Dietrich. And I think silicon breasts have changed styles to adapt to a type of body that once existed only by God’s magic. So I hate to criticize these lean looks. Are these models professionals? They’re scowling. They’re not made up to be pretty. They are not elegant. Somebody help me out here. You don’t have to like my aesthetic. But what’s with these models?
Love the dresses. HATE the shoes.
Were several different designers together in a room when someone threw a chair through a window? This is the third (fourth?) collection with a fractured glass effect. Love it, but puzzled by the synchronicity.
