I like the vacation-y feeling a lot of this collection gives, but I’m getting tired of sheer bits in weird places.
Amen and amen.
I think I like the two simpler long gowns.
The rest of it looks like hospital gowns with thigh windows.
Yes thank you all I could see was hospital gowns in a mental ward. Girl Interrupted was what I kept seeing over and over again
Definitely. Plucky young protagonist fights crippling depression by creating high fashion out of asylum wear.
My immediate thought also, cheap cotton hospital gowns.
Pretty textiles, very unattractive silhouettes. Sad face, i usually buy Max Azria stuff during end of season sales.
I’m disappointed. Most of this collection is a little too boxy or shapeless for me. There are a couple of nice pieces (white top and black pants second from bottom), but much of the rest is a little sad. Also, the styling on the models is terrible. They all look depressed.
I agree. Most of the pieces look like lab coats with a bit of embellishment.
Angelina Jolie might like them…but only if they come in colors like “Charcoal Briquet”, “Lead” and “Dirt”
Hear, hear. When I think of the BCBG pieces I’ve bought in the past, I’ve loved them because they’re body-conscious without being over-the-top. These are shapeless sacks. No thanks.
Same here. I’ve gotten a couple of really fabulous pieces over the years, and they’ve always been really figure-flattering without being too much.
The one bridesmaid dress that I really did wear again was from BCBG. It was SO flattering, and such a pretty color. I wore it to everything for like 3 years.
Yes! I had high hopes for BCBG, but this is very disappointing.
I never thought beige could be so aggressively ugly.
I see Dior’s pointless sheer panel pieces are being done by others. These particular others bring to mind items sewn during craft therapy at the local mental institution, where rich girls go to have their breakdowns.
This version sounds about a thousand times more interesting than the collection itself.
I’m beginning to think that these designer shows are all really PR decoys and TLo’s just messing with us. Seriously, does this not all look very amateurish? Or is my finger way off the current pulse of fashion?
No, you’re not alone in thinking this.
The workmanship is beautiful but some of the styles are laughable (very PR decoy, you are right)
I actively and vigorously loathe this collection. #9 down hurts my brain. Hate is not strong enough a word for how much I dislike these clothes.
I despise the all white with long sleeves and white shoes? Are they kidding me? Ae they testing the level of sheep-Dom of women who will race to buy these ugly clothes because they have a designer label? The only thing halfway decent are the pieces made with the black print.
Yeah, my reactions as I scrolled down tended to alternate between “what the fuck” and “OH COME ON”. This is just boring-ugly, which is the worst kind of fashion.
At least the clothes will fit properly when a real sized woman wears them.
If by fit, you mean “look like a box,” than you are correct.
I’m getting the feel of an expensive sanitorium complete with restraints. Especially at the beginning.
I really don’t like this. Of course the hideous shoes might be biasing me against it, but I kind of doubt it.
I hadn’t even noticed the shoes the first time around. They’re AWFUL.
Some of the clothes are so bad I was actually starting to come around to the shoes/sandals. It’s like Stockholm Syndrome.
I didn’t even notice the shoes because of how awful the clothes were.
Not for me, boxy, ill fitting and not flattering even to the models, which is bad.
This is their decoy collection, right?
This is not my label, and sleeveless trench coats shit me to tears.
The first and last girl in the line-up is the 3rd place model winner of the Elite New Look 2013 competition…girl is only 16.
She looks twenty years older
Most of this is hideous – Psychiatric Hospital Formal hideous – but some of it is really pretty. Weird collection
I want to know what you think is pretty. Because I had a hard time thinking even one look was worthwhile.
Ha it’s a good question because so much of this is awful and I think I was just trying to be nice… I do think the first long black and white pattern dress is pretty and the one plain long black dress is ok but these are mildly pretty so again, maybe just looking for the toad among the toadstools here!!
More power to you. If you can find something worthwhile here, maybe it wasn’t all for nothing.
I like the relaxed, slightly unusual silhouettes, the color palette, and the prints. It all feels very boho vacation chic. (Fourth model down with the oversized glasses looks perfectly cool. At least from the ankles up.) As for the sheers, it seems like the fashion world has not yet deemed them done, though I suppose given the immense amount of exposure body-revealing clothing gets with Hollywood starlets it’s not a very surprising trend.
I like many of this clothes, they accomplish the well cited, but almost never achieved cliché of “structured but flowy”
(almost as common as hard and soft).
Apparently baggy is in this year. Other then that this collection is feeling a little tacky.
I did read something yesterday that slightly looser silhouettes are “in” for next year, but this collection is taking it a bit too far.
Two words: Hospital gowns.
Not liking anything here at all! The sort of silvery coat was the only thing that gave me pause.
I was going to say ‘I hate all of this’ until the last third or so, which turned it around a bit for me. I think the formalwear in this collection works and the casual wear does not.
Underwhelmed. Especially in comparison with more recent BCBG Max Azria shows, this feels sorta thrown together. I like some of the floaty stuff, but where’s the LOVE?
No one in their right mind is going to wear look 9. Bra-veralls? Ugh, I take that back. Rita Ora will probably cut Riri to get them. All right, I guess my original statement still stands.
Don’t forget Gaga or Miley.
Interesting … Not for me, though. Strange bits of illusion netting.
It’s weird how some clothes don’t photograph well, even though the quality of the fabrics and workmanship is probably superb. I bet those slouchy piece are actually superb. Ah, to actually BE at Fashion Week.
No. Just no. Who are they dressing? Where is she going? Long term care?
Lotta sheer hospital gowns here.
We think alike–I saw a few that were a sheer inset away from sanatorium chic.
I went “ew” at every single picture although I have the feeling that some of the individual items will actually look great in reality and worn differently. But those netted pants? Those remain just ew…
I watched this show at the Fashion Week streaming site you had posted here yesterday and wasn’t blown away by most of it.
In fact, I felt there were numerous pieces in this and the NOON by NOOR shows that would have been instant “Aufs” on PR.
There’s nothing cohesive about this collection. The first several, I’ve seen scrubs which were more flattering. The middle group has been inspired by gutter water, but not in a subtle way. The only one in the final third that has some interest for me is the long v-neck floral split panel skirt with black shorts underneath and with all the bodice and skirt elements outlined in black, 7th from the end.
Hideous. There is not one thing here I would take if they were handing them out for free on a street corner. Well, maybe a bag or two to sell on eBay.
Too much ugh here. Way too much. A few eww’s too. Only a couple of oooh and ahhs.
this looks very stella mccartney-ish.
Unfortunately, Stella would take looks like this and add one thing (or more) which would push it over the edge from “Ew” to “OH MY GOD MAKE IT STOP MY EYES ARE BLEEDING.”
exactly – the only look I kind of like is the last.
Happy to see Alberta girl Jenna Earle model #6 and #16
It’s amazing how radically different their RTW line differs from the runway. This is pretty bad
Holy crap, I thought nothing could be worse than open-toed boots, but these shoes take the win.
No kidding…I couldn’t even comment on the clothes, I was so busy loathing the footwear.
Looks like flowing and shapeless is the new black for 2014. yay.
Love the organza and floral pieced pants. Otherwise, nothing too exciting.
Most looks like it was made from sheets you’d buy at Goodwill.
Disappointing. Shapeless, and nothing really new here.
I don’t mind the tan trench-ish top (or whatever it is); I like the (too bad it’s) sheer top with flowers; I almost like the black/floral…thing…that depressed LeeLee Sobieski is wearing. The rest can disappear.
Yikes. I usually like BCBG well enough, but the first half reads like Project Runway unconventional materials challenge in a hospital. Gauze, gowns, scrubs, sheets, and bandages everywhere you look.
The second half has one or two things I could see the more fashion-adventurous musician wearing: Florence Welch in the dropped-waist gown with the sheer panels, Gwen Stefani in the sheer-paneled harem pants.
Are we done with the see through panels on dresses yet? Sooooooo over it….
I pretty much universally hate this collection. If you are a woman looking to resemble a rectangle with a hint of left hip, here’s a collection for you! Bleh.
Someone is trying too hard to copy Jil Sander.
Too many hospital gowns–with surgery cut-outs, on top of everything. (In case my words don’t convey it on the screen, my voice is escalating as we get closer to the end of the sentence).
The flowery fabrics are kind of pretty, but poorly used. But please explain what’s up with all the baggy, shapeless, colorless clothes in so many collections lately?
Is it just me, or do some of these look like very expensive hospital gowns?
I like it. Although I think I like it mostly because it’s different. This brand really needed an update. They were way too 80′s/90′s inspired the last few years. This is very modern and though I wouldn’t pair the pieces the way they did for the show, there are a lot of very workable pieces in here that at least have some visual interest.
the first half are clothes for the asylum. some for the staff, and some for the inmates.
