Balmain Spring 2014 Collection

So many lovely rich bitch outfits!
I was thinking too that this was a collection that super rich ladies would actually buy and wear… I see KStew in those mini-wrap-skirt dresses too. Not my style but I could see much of this in “real life”…real $$$ life of course!!
I would definitely wear a leather skirt and designer Starsky & Hutch cardigan in the real life where I can afford it!
She would look great in it. Lots of chains and belts. Whew.
Rich Bitch coming from a tiff with Hubby and she’s out on the town raring to burn some money.
Bling Ring realness.
YAAASSSSSSSSS!!! Love this!! Love all of it!! (Even if a few pieces look like Chanel bags made into clothes.)
I was thinking Chanel had hot back-alley sex with Johnny Rotten.
I’m starting to wonder if there’s a shortage of lining fabrics…
There must be. And it’s worldwide, clearly.
Please, no more naked nipples! I’d love 9 and 16 so much more if they just had lining!
Some of this stuff is just so Holly Hobby – EXPENSIVE Holly Hobby, but Holly Hobby nonetheless.
You mean the blue-check and lace numbers, that look like Grandma got crafty with the picnic cloth and some old doileys?
Yes, yes and yes!!
It strikes me as modern-day Joan of Arc meets Chanel. Weird, I know…
The fabrics are very textural, which brings to mind classic Chanel, so I see where you’re coming from.
It really is sad day for a fashionista wanna be when one can no longer afford even Chanel knock offs! LOL! LOL!
I’m starting to long for a runway show where the models sport Blade Runner make-up! The nude face has gotta go!!! (Do like most of these clothes tho–the giant houndstooth reminds me of Mondo!)
FUGLY clothes giving Versace a run for it;s tacky money.
thank you! oh dear FUGLY indeed
Have you seen the last Versace collection? This is high class in comparison!
NO ONE gives Versace a run for it’s tacky money… Donatella is in a league of her own… but I can see your point!!
Cannot take my eyes off the pink mini prom dress (third from the bottom, as modeled by Hillary Swank). I lack the vocabulary to describe what it’s doing to me, but I think it’s wrong.
What is that thing? I, too, am at a loss to understand.
There’s a thing going for the oversized belt, yes? The blue patterned mini with the chain detailing-that’s going to show up very, very soon on a pretty young thing.
Nope. NONONO. Nuh-uh. “Deep V, drop waist, drop crotch denim jump suit w/woven/quilted denim jacket w/metal chain accents.” Just no.
FINALLY! Something pretty and aspirational, after runways and runways filled with fug. I can let out a sigh of envious relief.
If Holly Hobby grew up to be a super powerful business woman, this would be her wardrobe. (Love.)
I like a large amount of this collection, which is very surprising as none of it is my personal style and half of it seems to have been dragged either out of the 80′s or re-created from Chanel accessories. I can just see this work on the red carpet and a bunch of rich rich bitches. And that houndstooth midi-skirt with the slit? WANT WANT!
Is that Rosie Huntington-Whiteley at the end? If so, and if that top is doing that to her VS-model boobs, mere mortals have no chance.
There are some very interesting, cool pieces sprinkled throughout this collection. The ones that look like airplane mechanic uniforms with built-in boots are silly, as well as the overall dress.
I was also thinking about us poor mortals, re the quilted pants, which are cute in theory but look bulky even on the models.
And the leather overalls? Ridic.
Yes. (She’s #3, too) Not even Rosie can make that silhouette work. The skirt, oy, my eyes!
If Chanel took X, met Home Depot at a rave then went home and made a baby. (It’s a lot.)
Pretty much like Karl in the 90′s.
I was thinking Chanel on acid, but I like your phrasing.
Early 90s power bitches represent! God this is all so hideous. And it feels excessively layered and heavy for spring.
I do agree that it doesn’t like very much like spring, that was definitely my thought at the first few outfits. But I really love the jackets and separates anyway.
I like the emphasis on the shoulder – yay 80′s.
Very nerdy of me but I can’t see a fishnet top (like the last one) without thinking of the submarine crew on UFO.
You lost me with the denim jumpsuit. EW.
I really love the separates and the jackets are to die for. But black ankle boots do not read spring to me!!!!
Somebody went crazy in the notions department.
I like a lot of this, but I cannot STAND the giant-ass buttons. Especially with the houndstooth and/or the braid. It reminds me of the fusty department stores my old-lady nanny used to drag my brother and me to when I was a kid. In the 90s.
There are a few nice, if over-elaborate pieces. But by and large, if it adds 15-20 visual pounds to the model’s frame, it isn’t going to go over well with civilians. I seriously doubt any of these women are stocky, chunky or waist-less, and yet . . .
I kind of love it in a capital f fashion way . It’s fun and eye catching without veering into Versace land
I like the houndstooth stuff.
My God, this whole collection feels like it’s 1985 all over again.
BAD BITCHES TO THE FLOOR!
How many famous people are modeling in this? I see Rosie H-W, but is that Mila Jovich? All of these models look so familiar! Anyway, love the clothes.
Some lovely, if overdone stuff here. So – no makeup or hair styling on the models? Interesting. That third from the bottom model reminds me of Hillary Swank in Boys Don’t Cry.
I’m a Balmain fan, but most of these look dated/heavy
8 from the top had me laughing hysterically: Funniest thing I’ve seen since Monty Python.
Some nice suits, but don’t a lot of them look like Chanel?
I kind of love this collection, though I still wish that there would be less sheer. I’m just sick of sheer. But those in-your-face houndstooths and leathers and giant buttons? So down.
Having a Chanel moment.
Sigh, I will be glad when clothing starts leaving SOMETHING to the imagination again.
Not my favorite Balmain collection (and I usually worship it), but I do like the houndstooth stuff and the rich-bitch jacket/skirt looks. Several others I would like if they weren’t transparent.
I’m disappointed in the (what I think of as) ‘classic Balmain’ looks in the collection. The complicated/overlaid/cutout/juxtaposed bits I usually like so much just really (and I’m a bit surprised) don’t translate that well to icy pastels. They look surprisingly cheap. And that blue/white gingham is a serious misstep.
Shades of ESCADA 1980′s?
Love that sleeve shape–looks like the sleeves I used in my senior thesis collection.
Am excited to see this trickle down to mng/Zara level. So many pieces which will take the Pedestrian to Pretty.
“Nana went nuts with the crocheting and the chains. It’s perf for strip crochet and now I don’t have to show my giant underwear to bring the boys to the yard. Now I just need to make this skirt a little shorter…”
I love it, although a couple of the looks seem a little heavy for spring. But the colors are gorgeous.
Wow.. this is great. This collection is so refined. I mean, look at those cuttings, so amazing! This cost a fortune, just to buy it. LOL!
Way too many overall-type things here. I like the play with texture, but I still can’t get over the overall evening gown.
This is for spring? SPRING? Head to toe in black “spring” leather. I guess ??????
Lagerfeld called and wants his Chanel collection back.
:: imagines the temper tantrum Uncle Karl must have thrown when he saw his Chanel in this funhouse mirror ::
:: dies laughing ::
Love this collection! I would wear every piece of this collection. Please send to my house immediately.
I am sure Coco Chanel has a smirk on her face as she looks down from heaven.
Wow! What a treat. This is what haute coutour designs look like! I’m so impressed with almost every one of these designs and feel certain that Balmain will go on to Coutour Heaven after this stunning collection!
GOD I LOVE BALMAIN! I want to spread those clothes on the ground and roll around in them. I look at this collection and get sad, actually. I will never be able to afford anything by Balmain. And even if I could, I never go places where I could actually wear it. My life is a sad life of pajama bottoms, ratty T-shirts, the occasional exciting TJ Maxx find and the even more occasional, sad, Middle-American splurge on Banana Republic or Rue La La. **weeps** Please do a TJ Maxx, Banana Republic or Target collection post, just for the poor people. And get someone like Tilda Swinton to wear all the clothes in it. Then maybe I’ll feel glamorous for a few minutes.
I think I need a Bloody Mary with a splash of Zoloft. Garnished with half a Xanax.
For me, this is straight out of the 80′s. Back then, I would have loved the black leather jumpsuit and bib overalls (and I actually had a pair of black leather overalls made by a local company called Northbound Leather) and I probably would have overdone it on the shoulder pads, too. This isn’t making me think of “rich bitch” so much as “privileged club kids of the twentieth century”.
Yes, it’s 80′s and over embellished and much too heavy for “spring”. But I was still impressed and thought – those too cool girls are looking down their noses at me. They are the swankiest bitches at the club.
Now this looks like high fashion.
Some one call Kristen Stewart Stylist. I need her in that mini with the chains!
::gasp:: There are actually a handful of MEMORABLE looks in this collection! I can’t recall a single individual piece from any of the other spring collections, but I think I’ll remember quite a few of these. My favorite so far from SS14!
I read the thumbnail as “Batman Spring 2014 Collection.” I was excited. Now I am sad.
Let’s never speak of this collection again.
i have waited all my life for a pair of black leather overalls.
All models look tired, even Karlie. What happened?
I am in love with this collection. I love the shapes and textures and patterns so much! I feel so good scrolling through these pictures!
Maybe I’m just a total priss, but I really don’t like the designers sending models down the runway without bras in see through garments.
