Zosia Mamet in Calvin Klein at the “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints” Screening

Posted on August 14, 2013

Since we’re already sure she’s going to wind up on our worst-dressed list at the end of the year for prior offenses, we feel like we should feature the following pictures just because we didn’t, for once, go, “Oh what the FUCK, Zosia?” upon first viewing her.

“Girls” star Zosia Mamet attends the screening of “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints” at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City in Calvin Klein.

Calvin Klein Fall 2013 Shoes

Except for the shoes, which look like doll shoes that still need to be snapped out of their plastic packaging casing, she looks like a cute downtown girl out for the night. We hate the eye makeup, but everything else ranges from acceptable to pretty nice. Maybe you think we’re being a little too nice here but SHE WORE PANTS. That can only be considered a step in the right style direction.

  • VioletFem

This is almost cute. If she had switched out those ridiculous hooves a chicer per of shoes it would be quite stylish.

    • drdarke

I don’t know, @VioletFem:disqus – between the sunken eyes and the hoof-like shoes, am I the only person here to think she looks possessed…?

Which may, I’ll admit, actually be an improvement – at least then it comes to dressing herself, since we all know Satan Has Exquisite Taste!

  • Chuck Barthelme

Wow, she can look good when she wants to. Agree on the shoes and the eye makeup, but those are minor quibbles when she’s getting the rest so right.

  • kim bunchalastnames

i actually kind of prefer this eye makeup to her usual look. her features are so strong that they sometimes just seem to disappear under her brows.

  • SewingSiren

The shoes are the only things I love. The bag however is giving me heartburn.

    • Chuck Barthelme

I love how the bag disappears and reappears throughout the progression of pictures. Wonder where it went.

      • SewingSiren

I’ll tell you where it should go. Back to Goodwill.

  • Rand Ortega

Best I’ve ever seen her look.

    • I don’t even hate the eyeliner. It suits her personality and I really mean that as a compliment.

      • Rand Ortega

    • demidaemon

Isn’t that a sad statement of affairs?

      • Rand Ortega

  • HomeOfficeGirl

I will say this.. I rush to check out her posts just to see what’s going on. She looks pretty good (for her). She has a very distinct posture… you can tell it’s her by the hanging arms.

  • gabbilevy

Those shoes are legitimately ugly. Ball-of-feet, up, though, I’m impressed.

    • 3boysful

Can you imagine how many times you would stub your toe/stumble because you have an extra half-inch of shoe beyond where your toes are telling you the shoe ends? This was a really dumb idea.

  • Town

Why does she always look depressed? Then again I’d be depressed too if I had to wear those white shoes.

    • Linda LaPaz

      Depressed, miserable, and unhappy!

      • Rhonda Shore

I’m convinced she needs help. And I’m not trying to be funny.

  • AC Simons

She has horrible taste in shoes – those blue & white flats were terrible and she wore them with everything. She seems to delight in being aggressively anti-fashion. Oh well, that blue looks nice on her.

    • marlie

And what was so irritating was that she tried to come off as aggressively anti-fashion, while wearing clothes that worth the same as a car.

    • cbt22

When I saw the thumbnail, I was sure that she was going to be wearing those blue and white flats. I can’t tell if I’m relieved or not.

  • jen_vasm

Not terrible at all, but that had to be one pissed off makeup artist applying that eye pencil.

  • AmeliaEve

Are those training shoes, with extra wide soles so you don’t tip over when you walk? Oh! Maybe they are amphibious shoes that can be used as flippers when you’re underwater! Or perhaps the platform opens up to carry your ID and cards on one foot and your phone on the other, so you don’t need a handbag…

    • Nondescript

Damn it, that would be really useful.

  • Jonquil

The thing that bothers me most are those eyebrows. Either clean up the edges or fill them in!

  • hillmad

That is a one pair of woman-hatin’ shoes! Guaranteed to trip you up on carpets, stairs, and curbs while painfully pinching your toes. Why?

  • alyce1213

I’m a crazy shoe gal, but even I must ask — “Who the hell would (or could) wear those shoes?”
    The answer — Zosia Mamet.
Her eye makeup is too heavy, but the silk shirt is a beautiful color and fits her well, and the skinny pants flatter.
So it’s an improvement, in spite of the ridiculous footwear.

  • Bridget Smith

Cute outfit, and since I know she likes weird shoes, I don’t even mind these. They’re pretty understated, as weird shoes go. But my real point is: that color is absolutely SMASHING on her and she should wear it all the time.

  • mhleta

Those are NOT drinking shoes, and so I must assume that she doesn’t. But maybe she should start if it leads to a better choice of footwear. Otherwise, pretty basic, but nothing too egregious. Cool earrings.

  • Clearly, there is now a Zosia grading curve, because I think she looks great. *That* is resting bitch face, not her usual sourpussed scowl. Her pants are hot, the blue is a terrific shade for her and her shoes are funky, and better than a basic white pump. An improved and approved outing.

  • marlie

I’m going to say that I like this, head to toe, without reservation. It’s not a perfect look by any stretch, but she clearly made an effort in every aspect. This is a cute “going out” outfit, and I even like the shoes. Nice job, Z!

  • Jamie M.

Outfit minus the shoes = winner!

  • Michelle Wilson

The bad shoes and eye makeup bookend a perfectly unremarkable outfit. You all are being far too kind in your assessments. I see 15 year old girls at the mall who manage more style.

    • marlie

We’re grading on a curve here. This look might be yawn-inducing on any other ladystar, but on Zosia, it’s significant progress.

  • Garcia Loca

Who would want their eyes to look small and their feet to look big?

    • alyce1213

      Great observation.

  • Stella Zawistowski

It’s sad when the bar is so low that merely wearing a totally unremarkable outfit is practically grounds for a “WERQ, Zosia, WERQ!”

  • Jaeda Laurez

Those shoes are a travesty. And she’s wearing the eye makeup from the girls in my high school years, but other than that, she looks “fine.” I can solidly say “fine.”

  • sagecreek

Another victim of the SJP school of eyeliner.

    • kmk05

More like the Taylor Momsen one! At least SJP’s is better applied.

  • MilaXX

Nope, I cannot cosign someone who slaps on that much makeup and refuses to fill in the world’s most raggedly brows. WTF is that earring and why is she wearing all the rings? The lego shoes are just icing on the fashion victim cake.

    • mjude

      lego shoes! LOL

  • kimmeister

Cute from neck to ankle. Those shoes are bad in any color, but they are particularly awful in white.

  • Lily-Rygh

Those shoes are positively hiddy, but I’m interested in the earrings…

  • housefulofboys

Her hair looks clean and her shirt is a pretty color. That’s it.

  • LibrarianLizy

I really like this, except for the shoes. The shoes are horrible and she should fire whatever stylist made her wear them. Other than that, she looks great. And pleasant surprisingly, like she might actually be okay with being there.

  • Sheneve Butler

Those shoes. I can’t even say “attagirl” because some serious thought must have went into putting on those shoes.

  • Qitkat

That is one of my most favorite shades of blue.
    Hilarious description of the shoes.
Is there such a thing as bemused bitchface? Because she has a masters degree in it.

    • Is there such a thing as bemused bitchface? Oh, there is now, because you have made it so. Brills.

  • sekushinonyanko

If not for the weird shoes and that look on her face this would definitely be an attagirl. If you can’t smile, at least look a little fierce. Bitch face is workable, blank face is not.

  • queeniethebold

How about buttoning your shirt properly, for God’s sake? Eeesh.

    The shoes are heinous.

The top is a pretty color. But it’s wrinkled. Also plus see above re: buttons.

    • marlie

What’s wrong with the way her shirt is buttoned?

    • vahtel

They’re buttoned correctly, there’s just a little placket or pleat getting covering them.

    • alyce1213

You mean because there’s a bit if black showing? Really? That’s a problem?

  • Tatiana Luján

Isn’t the shirt without pants going to end up in the worst dressed list this year?

  • tonibaloney

Those shoes are of the devil. SANTO DIOS!

  • formerlyAnon

She looks nice. Like you’d dress for a date or a night out on the town with the friends. A step up.

  • YourLibrarian

Is she wearing hair ties as bracelets?

    • marlie

I think she’s wearing hair ties as hair ties… Certainly they should have gone into the mysteriously disappearing purse, but they don’t really bother me. Probably because I am wont to have them on hand almost all of the time, myself.

  • Paula Pertile

    oh my god those shoes.

  • ashtangajunkie

    Almost, Shoshanna. Almost.

  • vitaminC

Sorry, I freaking love those shoes. Finally, something innovative in the high heel way that doesn’t look like a beartrap or a cat’s cradle.

  • crash1212

I don’t care what she wears anymore as I am SO tired of that bored face she always gives. I never make it past that to look at her clothes. Guess I’m as bored with her as she seems to be with getting her picture taken.

  • neonseattle

i actually like the shoes. i’m tired of “pretty pumps”. this is actually interesting. other than the gross eyeliner, this was pretty good but not noteworthy. she looks like any regular 20-something out for drinks in the city.

  • Lilithcat

    “Oh what the FUCK, Zosia?”

Oh, stop talking like her dad.

Those shoes are ridiculous, and the foot tats aren’t helping. The rest is fine.

  • KingCrazy

This is really really really good for her.

That said, Vicky B has received years of backlash for “not smiling” but this chick always looks downright miserable.

    • marlie

Posh comes across as “fierce,” while Zosia comes across as “petulant” and “annoyed.”

  • jkatkins

Allow me, Uncles: Oh, what the FUCK, Zosia!

  • majorbedhead

Those shoes look like cross country ski boots with heels. And her eyebrows need some grooming – they’re bordering on Grandpa territory in their wildness. And she has hair elastics on her wrist.

I fear if I ever ran into this girl, I would have WORDS to say to her.

    • Tess Danesi

Yes! I knew I was having a flashback to something looking at those hideous shoes and they are exactly that! Cross country ski shoes. They are pretty damn hideous too and only should be employed for snapping into skis.

For her, she looks good. That’s not saying much but considering she’s definitely on T-Lo’s worst of the year, it’s enough.

  • kmk05

Except for the eyeliner, I think this is amazing. Her hair is amazing, her pants are amazing, and the shoes are fashion-y! SHE LOOKS LIKE A NORMAL PERSON NOW.

  • Shawn EH

This is her prettiest hair ever, and I don’t mind the kohl that much when everything else is soft and sexy.

  • Fordzo

Does she have just the one facial expression?

    • alyce1213

Lol. And I’d hardly call it an expression.

    • ~Heather

I think the eyes, hair, earrings and bright blue look fresh – but, here!here!, that single expression and pose. Is it SO hard to work it for the camera and appear to be enjoying herself, since she obviously made the effort to get dressed and hang out for awhile?!

      • Fordzo

It must be misery to be given clothes and jewelry and shoes (even if they are ugly shoes) and then have to go to parties. Living hell.

  • I get that she’s cultivating a look, but everything is just so amateur night I just.. ugh.

Yay trousers I guess, I suspect that’s the best we’re going to get.

  • Fanny_Trollope

Shoes and bag are yuck as noted; eye makeup is too much; but overall, she looks prettier and more put-together here than in any other photos I’ve seen of her. The shirt is a gorgeous color and the pants fit. Let’s call it a win!

  • Jacqueline Wessel

For some reason that shall remain irrational, she is on my irrational dislike (hate is too strong) list.

  • Squareface

    Aww she tried…

  • Dagney

I like this. I mean, it’s offbeat and the shoes are wacky, but it’s really HER.

  • iseeshesaid

Whatever. I’m over her. Also, the eyeliner does her no favors.

  • E. D.

Those shoes are tragic. I don’t hate the eyeliner though.

  • Juniper

We get it, we get it, you hate the pole dance. Well then, here’s an idea, little lady nepotism: Stay. The. Fuck. Home. Your look of disdain is tired and affected.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

I don’t know why she annoys me but Lord love a duck, she does. That said, love the pants, love the shirt and the color, hate her eye makeup. Her hair…I can’t even.

  • nannypoo

This is an outfit I would wear. I am not, however, a celebrity, so I can wear what I damn please and it’s my own business. I would not wear all those crappy rings, the ugly shoes, the lank and messy hair, the overdone eye makeup or the unpleasant facial expression. I absolutely cannot stand this woman.

  • MK03

Come on, Joyce. Get your shit together.

  • Imasewsure

I think she looks great. Maybe my standards are low low low for her but I like all of this on her, even the doll shoes

  • Anniebet

I’ve got a feeling the eye makeup is a stab at saying “fuck you” to peeps like us – it’s so badly done and over the top. She does have lovely brown eyes though. The outfit is just fine except for that rubber band on her arm and omg those clodhopper shoes.

    • Dagney

Could be. The thing that can be irritating is that “people like us” are the reason she has a job. She is attending an event. She’s not grocery shopping or getting the mail, so it’s expected that photographers will be present and she will scrutinized.

  • Toto Maya

My reaction was, “It’s only KIND OF terrible.” That’s a win for her, in my book.

  • elzatelzabelz

I am over “stars” who have Kristen Stewart red carpet issues- SMILE, emotion, brush your hair. It’s not THAT hard! yet another bred look, quelle surprise.

  • Contralto

WHITE shoes with that ensemble?! No.

  • rage_on_the_page

Her eye makeup makes her look like the bassist from Limp Bizkit. The one with the creepy eyes.

  • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

For her, it’s tremendous. It looks like her hair was brushed in the last day or so and everything sort of goes together.

  • demidaemon

Yeah, it’s okay. No great shakes. It’s sad when that is all it takes for a little praise.

  • MoHub

I can foresee the potential for some major trippage in those shoes.

  • save_the_hobbit

Those shoes are ridiculously ugly, as is her eyeliner.

  • amanda lynn

i’ll give you a cookie if you smile…

  • librarygrrl64

Not bad, but you are SO RIGHT about the shoes. Atrocious.

  • She needs normal makeup and to burn those hooves. Maybe even softer hair?
