WERQ: Michelle Dockery in Miu Miu at the Venice International Film Festival

Posted on August 30, 2013

Oh LADY MARY!

Finally!

“Downton Abbey” star Michelle Dockery attends the Miu Miu’s “Women’s Tales” premiere during the 70th Venice International Film Festival at the Palazzo del Cinema in Venice, Italy in Miu Miu.

That’s it. That’s the style, girl. You’ve clearly had problems figuring out the best style for you and here it is: Italian Mod. Go forth and acquire pieces, darling. Educate yourself. Watch some fabulous Italian divorce comedies from the ’60s.

Personally, we would have suggested slightly heavier makeup, but since we did the double gay-gasp at the sight of you, we can’t really complain. You WERQ those stems, girl. DOLCE SNAPS.

Girl finally went out and got herself some gays.

  • gabbilevy

THIS is her hair and face. Gorgeous.

    • Introspective

this is also definitely her color! brava!!

    • andreawey

I agree def a flattering hair style! I’m so happy for her lol

  • RussellH88

This is giving me everything I need.

  • carolynmo

I’m stealing “dolce snaps” for the day, thanks!

  • MilaXX

This is adorable! She finally looks comfortable in something on the RC. I even think the low key makeup works.

  • Kappyapp

I LOVE this type of look so much. I’m personally the complete wrong shape for it, and I always admire women who can pull it off. She looks fantastic

  • Danielle

YES YES YES YES YES. Miss Lady, this is PERF.

  • AshBookworm

    I looooove the hair!

  • Nicholas

It’s funny how the best Miu Miu looks are always very mod.

  • Dan_In_NYC

I don’t know if she needs a flat iron or a blowout or a trim, but the hair’s not working for me. Overall, love the length and cut on her – but the actual styling leaves a bit to be desired here. Otherwise, have to agree this is a personal best and the simplicity suits her.

  • marlie

I think she looks fabulous here. Just gorgeous. Go, girl!

  • PlethoraofBooks

    About time! Halleljuah!

That being said, the shoes are too heavy.

  • SugarSnap108

This makes me smile, partly because I have a very similar dress — though it’s probably just a smidge cheaper since it’s from H&M.

She looks adorable, but I’m not in love with the shoes and bag — the shoes, especially, are like weights dragging the whole thing down.

  • NBG

Shoes are a touch too bulky but everything else is adorable. She’s gonna make it after all! :)

    • mshesterp

I much prefer the model’s shoes, since the dress itself is so blocky, it needs more elegant shoes. I think she looks great–not quite a werq (the hair is a little flat for me), but definitely a good style for her.

      • Getoverit

Models shoes are definitely better. Give the ensemble some snap.

  • Lilithcat

Lovely. But the sleeves need shortening.

  • Chuck Barthelme

She must have gotten a new stylist. Because daaaaaaayyyyyum girl! She looks hot.

  • Clueless_Jock

Indeed, elegance is refusal. Chic, simple, beautiful.

  • nannypoo

She never seems to wear enough makeup for these appearances. She looks fabulous here anyway.

  • Beth513

Oooh! Ahhh! Yes! She looks AHmazing. Seems that Cousin Matthew was just a bunch of dead weight, get rid of him and Lady Mary figures out how to be fabulous.

  • SewingSiren

The bag looks like one of those free ones you get if you take out a magazine subscription, but everything else is picture perfect.

  • Adrianna Grężak

    “dolce snaps” LOL

  • Jake

The look is PERFECT but I agree, she looks a bit washed out in the face.

  • BeeBeauNYC

    Flawless!

  • Winter_White

After La Dolce Vita, what other 1960s divorce comedies are fabulous? Michelle and I are ready to be educated about Italian mod style, and would appreciate any recommendations. :)

    • MoHub

Marriage Italian Style and Divorce Italian Style.

      • Winter_White

Fantastico — thanks, MoHub! Please join Michelle and I for a screening? There will be drinks.

        • MoHub

Would love to, but life is a bit busy at present.

          • Winter_White

Dammit — that’s what Michelle said when I invited her. ;)

          • MoHub

Sorry. Besides, I saw those movies when they came out. I’m that old.

          • Winter_White

Would you have said yes if I hadn’t made a classic stupid grammar mistake? (…Michelle and ME, not Michelle and I.) I just noticed it and am properly ashamed.

          • MoHub

In spite of the fact that I’m a professional Grammar Hammer, I would just let your little case error slide. I’m in the middle of doing opera performances, preparing for the High Holy Days, and helping my daughter plan her wedding, so my life is not my own.

          • alyce1213

Yikes, so early this year — L’shana tova. Also mazel tov on your daughter’s impending nuptials.

          • MoHub

Thank you. Actually the daughter and fiancé are doing most of the planning themselves with the help of a wedding planner since they’re not so young anymore and don’t think they need us that much. Parents on both sides are there for support and advice when asked. However, our main responsibility is cutting the check.

    • alyce1213

It’s not a divorce movie, but check out “After the Fox” (1966) by De Sica, with Peter Sellers. Britt Ekland as Gina Romantica is very Italian mod. It’s a hysterical film.
Also by De Sica – “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” (1964) with Loren and Mastroianni. One of my all-time favorites.

      • MoHub

Definitely agree with both of these. Some of the most bizarre Burt Bacharach music in After the Fox as well.

      • Winter_White

Thank you, alyce1213! Both “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” and MoHub’s rec, “Marriage Italian Style,” are streaming on Netflix — so I may have a little festival this weekend. :)

        • alyce1213

Have fun! I didn’t know they were on Netflix, I just may stream them this weekend too. So thanks for letting us know.

  • PinkySlinky

    Rachael Leigh Cook lookalike…

    • PinkySlinky

a total ‘She’s All That’ moment- she’s so pretty now!

  • hughman

Since she is a Brit, may I also suggest the movie “Georgie Girl” and digging up some Mary Quant. Keep it in the family and all that.

    • decormaven

Would DIE if she wore some vintage Mary Quant. It would be fabulous.

    • rh33

      And don’t forget Blow Up,

  • CeeQ

Ditch the shoes but otherwise, yes, this works!

  • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

Dear Carey: THIS is how you wear Miu-Miu.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

i think “Oh Lady Mary” is going to become my new expletive of choice….much classier than the one I usually use!

  • kipper

    Lady Mary bobs her hair!

  • khaleesi

i love me some lady mary!!

  • Imasewsure

Yes Lady Gurl… hit the shops in Venice before you leave the festival and you will not disappoint (disappoint us, that is). Gorgeous!!

  • AnnaleighBelle

That hair style makes her face look so soft and pretty. I usually find her more severely beautiful.

  • Sara Brams-Miller

Dolce snaps. HAH! She really does look fantastic. Finally.

  • sweetlilvoice

Beautiful! And it’s nice to see a celeb not sporting stupid nail polish or long scary fake nails or a combination of both. She is a stunner.

  • MarissaLG

    Cute hair!

  • LauraAgain

She looks so pretty … and I’m really glad the front pockets don’t stand out like they do on the model. With her dark hair, black clutch and black shoes, white skin and red dress, she’s got it going on!!!

  • Qitkat

What a lush fabric. This is how to design an exquisitely simple dress with perfect details.

  • Kate4queen

    Lovely!

  • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Yay! I love it when someone gets it right.

  • Trickytrisha

She’s been frustrating us BKs for a while now, with too many nits for the picking over her fashion and style choices. But, wow, she’s turned that around with a bang. This is understated loveliness at it’s finest. That hair is exquisite on her. Everything is gush-worthy!

  • AnneElliot

Her hair is adorable. Sigh. I wish mine would obey me and look like that!!

  • conniemd

It the dress, which looks like it is out of a difficult silken type fabric isn’t wrinkled!! Yay!!!

  • crash1212

WERQ indeed. Perfection. I love her hair.

  • patticake1601

Very Mary Quant. She looks gorgeous.

  • prismamars

    She looks fantastic!

  • Alloy Jane

I LOOOOOOOVE this :D :D All of it. I want that dress, I just don’t want to pay for it.

  • http://www.dogsdotcom.blogspot.com/ Plink

Honestly, she just doesn’t do it for me. At all.

  • ItsDicey

She has never looked more beautiful. Imagine this with heavy black eyeliner and a more intense lip. That would be perfection! Seriously lovely as is, though. WOW.

  • demidaemon

Mod is definitely her niche. Hopefully, we’ll see her in this style more and more.

  • Jeff Warhurst

    She’s stunning.

  • kalisa

She looks like Charlie’s crazy neighbor Rose on 2 1/2 Men.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

I would kill her to get that dress. Aside from that though, let’s praise her hair stylist. She looks ten years younger than when she wears her bangs and fussy curls. Love it!

  • María José Benites Peralta

This is lovely. I love everything about this looks

  • kathrineb

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. This is what its about!
