Victoria Beckham for Vogue Australia Magazine

Posted on August 13, 2013

Vicki Posh offers you her face. And her attitude. She kindly invites you to accept both.

Victoria Beckham covers the September 2013 issue of Vogue Australia magazine photographed by Boo George and styled by Caroline Newell.

On her husband David Beckham‘s career: “We’re so proud of David. Having supported him at clubs all over the world for the past 15 years and seen how he has been an inspiration not just to me and the children, but also to millions of people. We are now just really excited at the prospect of spending more time as a family.”

On her after-work schedule: “Honestly, once the children are in bed, I’d rather work or shove on a face pack and pluck my eyebrows. By the time Brooklyn’s finally gone to bed, it’s all I’m fit for. Really, we’re much more normal than people think.”

On her first collection’s presentation woes: “Everyone would file in and act so inscrutable. I’d think, ‘Um, did anyone like it?’ No one would say anything, so I’d just gabble to fill the embarrassing silence – even to the Japanese, who didn’t understand a word I was saying.”

There has clearly been some editing done here. That line should read:

“Really, we’re much more normal than people thinkHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.”

We joke because we love. She’s limited as a model but she does photograph well.

But what did she buy David for his birthday? Do I have to go and buy Vogue to find out? I love her regardless and David grew up 2 miles from where I did so he’s okay by me. :)

      • Alaska Snob

That’s what I want to know too! Anyone?

    • eowyn_of_rohan

That last photo with her in the pink sweater is really gorgeous.

      • mshesterp

She’s soooooo pretty. And that picture make her look so soft and gorgeous.

        • Rhonda Shore

Love the tousled hair and the *smoky eye*.

      • 3boysful

I think shes pretty but looks depressed in this one. Like the girlfriend who calls you to come over, and at the kitchen table she reveals she’s getting divorced.

        • Adrianna Grężak

          That’s why it’s a compelling photograph

          • Qitkat

It really is, isn’t it? Even though I said she looked slightly frumpy, (mostly the hair, as she is quite pretty), it’s the sort of image that makes you want to come back to and stare right back at her, wondering what she’s really thinking. I think it is possibly the best photograph I’ve ever seen of her.

            • Cz

I like the one of her laughing that David Beckham posted on his instagram or twitter or somesuch.

That said, I like the sweater pic more than the cover. Her expression on the cover looks like she smells something stinky. But, I want that dress.

    • Diego!

The second picture is out of focus and why the heck is she wearing Louis Vutton instead of promoting her own line of clothing? Girl, respect!

      • marlie

She wears her own line 99% of the time, so I’m actually glad to see her in something a little different.

        • Diego!

Yeah I know, but at least her clothes are prettier than this Gucci collection…

      • Jamie M.

That second picture is a little fuzzy, kinda like her sweater! I like it — the pic and the fuzzy sweater.

    • Jen

I love her because on the few times you actually hear her talk normally she really does just sound like an everyday person :) quite different from the persona that comes across in all those solemn photos.

      • marlie

She and her hubby do actually seem like “real people,” aside from the fame and fortune. I kind of like them.

      • Meg0GayGuys6

I remember watching some special on TV a few years ago when they were looking for a house in LA and she seemed really funny and real.

HOWEVER… after giving this interview talking about how normal they are and how they’re so real, they’re on their way to one of the kid’s parent/teacher nights, they boarded a helicopter to get there. I guess everything’s relative.

        • formerlyAnon

I always think there’s no way to win if you are wealthy and to some extent required to be in the public eye. If you’re down to earth folk who earned your money after a modest upbringing or if you’ve been raised from birth in privilege only makes a slight difference. No matter what, you either look like you’re pretending to be “ordinary” when everyone knows you’re wealthy, or you look wealthy and out of touch with normal folks’ lives.

      • Fordzo

I fell in love with her when she did that funny little interview with Ant and Dec. If you haven’t seen it, please go google it. She’s adorable.

    • Lily-Rygh

      That cover is embarrassing.

    • sablehunter

Love love love that pink sweater, but it looks itchy.

      • eowyn_of_rohan

For the money you’d have to shell out for it, I hope to God it wouldn’t be itchy.

    • ashtangajunkie

I really enjoy her. She has been surprising post-Spice Girls, which is a good thing. Love that LV sweater.

    • marlie

Posh is really, really pretty (photo #2) when she’s not vamping for the camera (photo #1). And she looks way better than both of the models, especially because of that awful styling.

    • oatmealpie

What a weird facial expression. She looks like an inquisitive duck.

    • Just Me

I think the cover shot is awful. She looks better than this.

    • http://roxyturtle.tumblr.com/ roxyturtle

Love her! She seems refreshing and honest, even if TLo’s revised quote is way more accurate. She’s the kind of person I’d love to get coffee with..and if Becks came along I suppose I wouldn’t mind. ;)

    • A Shiny O’Connor

Spaghetti straps and breast implants – never the twain should meet.

      • marlie

On Posh? It’s not like her chest is bulging out everywhere, and the straps aren’t digging into her shoulders. She seems relatively covered up, considering.

        • A Shiny O’Connor

She wore this dress to Wimbledon after the shoot. The effect would be welcome at the Playboy Mansion.

          • marlie

I see. Well, I missed that, so I’m basing my opinion solely on the way the picture looks here.

    • MilaXX

That cover photo is awful. Her hair looks thin and it appears as if her face is fading away on the left side.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I love the idea of her. The Glamour Soccer Mom to beat all soccer moms is just to die. I don’t even want to be one of those kinds of moms, but I am fascinated at their existence and she as their Queen. I especially love the showing of the softer side of Vicky Posh.

      • Cz

Next on Lifetime: Celebrity Soccer Moms, featuring Her Royal Soccerness, Posh Becks!

    • crash1212

I love that first dress. Love. And I happily accept her face and her attitude.

    • Qitkat

I actually love how slightly frumpy (rich) housewife/mom she looks in the pink sweater. And the sweater reminds me of a favorite angora baby pink sweater I knit while in college. It either shed or picked up fraggles on anything it rubbed against, but it was so soft and cuddly.

    • SICacovou

She looks like Emma Watson in 20 years in the second!

      • Celandine1

That is exactly what I thought when I scrolled to the picture in the pink sweater.

    • KikiAvocado

she looks “confused in a negligee” in the cover shot. Less bitchface, tho. Which is an improvement

    • MrsDanvers

      those EYES!

    • thecitysleeps

That picture of her in the jumper is quite striking. Love it!

    • Anniebet

Wow, she looks like a real live human being with actual thoughts and emotions in that second pic. Lovely clothes in both pictures, but in the first she looks like she’s contemplating whether or not to do grievous bodily harm to the photographer (or possibly the photo shoot’s stylist).

    • GillianHolroyd

Such an unflattering angle in the cover photo but the 2nd one is good.

    • KingCrazy

Love her. It’s a shame much of the American public has ill-conceived notions of her, because she really is quite enjoyable.

    • kimmeister

      What’s a “face pack”?

      • http://www.GiftedCollector.com/ The Gifted Collector

Probably a self facial that hardens and then you wash it off. When I was a girl, my mother’s facial of choice was Milk of Magnesia. Worked great at pulling out the impurities in our skin.

    • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

People comment often that she doesn’t smile in public. It’s sure a sight to behold when she does smile because she’s really cute. I wish the photographer had encouraged her to smile. We’ve seen this depressed, bitchy look for years. I’m not saying that she does these expressions intentionally. But if the public is going to pay for a cover, they ought to have a cover that is more exciting than this one—and it wouldn’t take much.

      • jabes

I believe she has said in the past that she hates her own smile and is very self-conscious about it.

        • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

That’s a shame if she doesn’t like her smile. She carries such an image of perfection and confidence. That shows that we never know how somebody feels. We never know when someone is insecure. I am guessing she is someone very hard on herself.

      • sekushinonyanko

I’ve heard her say that she does smile, they just like the to print the images of her not smiling because that fits into the persona they made. Kind of like if you look through enough pictures of Kristen Stewart at any event you find some of her posing and smiling, it’s just that the bitchface always makes it to print.

    • lilyvonschtupp

She’s so bored I can smell it.

    • Mazenderan

I will never understand how this ridiculous woman has come to be taken seriously.

      Like the pink jumper, though.

    • Fordzo

“Shove on a face pack.” Is that anything like a feed bag? That’s how I spend my evenings, too! Stars! They’re just like us!

    • calimon

It seems the mauves and plums are a popular color for Fall.

    • kathrineb

Priceless TLO comment. Vicky your face is on a magazine for the 1000th time and your stinking rich. I know I can’t relate to you anymore than I can relate to Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge but thats OK.

    • RuthGo

Did anyone see the reality show they did with her years ago about her moving her family to LA when David was playing there? It’s not so much that their life was normal, there’s just no way that can be, but I found her surprisingly relatable and pretty funny. The scene when she goes to take her written driving test is kind of priceless.

    • guest2visits

While i like the expression and softness given in the second pic; I think they missed giving her depth and expression for the cover shot – the nude lips look make her look drained and tired. Maybe a medium pink tinged blue. Half as deep as the model’s.

    • Imasewsure

For some reason she never bugs… think she is who she is and doesn’t front… love and need that sweater

    • Jacob Bowen

I don’t like the black nighty and I HATE the runway photo. That model looks like she has a bad version of Joan Jett’s hairstyle.

    • schmoollala

She’d rather work or shove on a face pack and pluck her eyebrows than bone the living shit out of Becks? Why’d you have to kill my fantasy like that, Vicky, why?

    • Sunraya

She just looks vacuous in that cover shot. Close your mouth, people. A mouth agape makes you look dazed.
