Is “World’s End” a nihilistic kind of film? Because that’s how she looks.

    • sagecreek

Nah, it’s about a pub crawl With aliens 🙂

      • Rand Ortega

I thought it was robots. Alien robots?

        • sagecreek

Yeah, honestly, I kinda stopped reading the summaries at “Simon Pegg” and said, “we’re going to see this!”

          • amanda lynn

saw it last night, and while these guys are hysterically formulaic, it’s a great time.

          • Rand Ortega

Yay! For me, Simon’s King of the Nerds. He’s an avowed sci fi geek who parlayed his love of all things dork into an incredible career as a writer, director & actor.

          • ItsDicey

            Yay! Count me in.

  • kimmeister

Is that a visible longline bra?

    • sagecreek

While I applaud her not having her cleavage down to her navel, the undershirt or whatever that is really doesn’t work with that dress.

  • Glam Dixie

Those seams down her arms make the dress look cheap, and her hair looks fried and the lace is ugly. I am a truly bitter kitten today.

    • terpsichory

Agree about the seams. Since I’m being exposed to so much high end fashion on this blog, I sometimes forget that garments usually have stuff like visible seams, limp lapels or less than adequate construction. Often makes shopping trips a reality check. I don’t know jack about her, so I’d wager she’s not quite high profile enough to be terribly picky in her choices.

      • marlie

She’s fairly well-known (but of the Michelle Dockery ilk, who don’t focus as much on the “celeb” aspect of being an actor), but Marios Schwab is a well-known, prominent enough designer with ample experience that HE should have known better.

    • Imasewsure

      No you are just accurate.

  • Laurie Landry

    Weird Frankenstein stitch dress.

  • Jen

Well I think she looks gorgeous, but then she always does!

  • Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas’ evening look.

    • demidaemon

  • Heather

She is so pretty, but girl, this is a film premiere and you are wearing an (admittedly ugly) lace dress. Put some makeup on!

  • In_Stitches

If you described the dress or showed it on a manikin, I’d laugh and say that’s terrible, but she’s making it work. It’s a bit odd, a fancy dress with no jewelry, a casual face and hair, but I’m loving it.

    • teensmom99

Definitely looks better than it should. And that’s even with what I all Hough-hair.

  • Honey. What the fuck?

  • JauntyJohn

    Oh sweetie… No.

If you can’t do The Full Klum then don’t step into the ring, if you follow.
And while I appreciate that you are going for some… sophistication? Edge? Image Re-branding? Above the neck, style-wise, doesn’t quite line up with below-the-neck. We didn’t need Vampira drag make-up, but fresh and clean isn’t quite right either.
The hem length is PERFECT for you though, and props to your folks for bequeathing you some terrific gams.
    A for effort but I’m afraid it’s a B- for execution.

  • Good face but seriously, there are better foundation garments.

    • NoveltyRocker

This dress just can’t have things showing from underneath. She should have gone with tape instead.

  • Kelly

I rather like the theory of the dress, but I don’t like a) the seams and b) the modesty panel, or whatever that is. Either risk the dress as designed or re-design it so the the changes look organic to the original and not like you’ve stuck a piece of cardboard in a broken window.

  • Cloveradams

She’s a striking woman and always an interesting actress, but this frock is Bride of Frankenstein’s mourning clothes.

  • KayEmWhy

    Blah! Look at that hair.

  • Stella Zawistowski

Why does this dress have surgical staples?

    • Rand Ortega

Because someone tried to kill it before it could escape. They (& the dress) failed.

  • Rand Ortega

I like her. She was the best part of “Jack Reacher”.

This dress looks like a botched costume change from “Frankenweenie”.

  • Anne At Large

As one of the better Bond girls in one of the worst Bond movies, I know she is lovely and feel like she deserves a better dress than this.

    • raininmai

I first noticed her in “Pride and Prejudice” and of course she played Jane.

      • omg_dora

She was a great Jane! I’ve liked her since then.

  • Magda

Is it possible she had a drink or two before the event? That would explain. the “yes, I’m wearing this dress and I don’t need a proper hairdo and I feel goood” attitude. Still, she looks gorgeous, glowing and quite happy.Even if the dress looks somewhat tipsy.

  • Imasewsure

Ugly and boring… Can’t wait to see the movie though!

  • raininmai

She is so strikingly beautiful, especially with that smile, I can forgive her for the unfortunate undergarment.

  • Trisha26

Another dress with a sheer panel that should be worn sheer or not at all. Why camouflage sheer black with a white lining? Those metal accents/closures look like sutures.

  • ShaoLinKitten

I thought this was Renee Zellweger from the thumbnail.

    • Dan_In_NYC

      Yes. Looking less, uh, “puffy.”

      • ShaoLinKitten

And whenever I think of her, I think of the Chappelle’s Show sketch where Leonard Washington says, “Who the hell is Renee Zell-wedger?”

  • decormaven

The black detailing on the bodice reminds me of the apparitions that took away the bad guy’s soul in Ghost.

  • Jacquelyn

The dress doesn’t offend my eyes but I’m not enthralled with it either. However, was she running late and forgot her hair?

  • conniemd

I almost liked the dress until I saw a) the big hem down the top of the sleeves b) the panel hiding the boob peek c) the rather plain looking “surgical staples.” The lace I like because it isn’t prissy lacey, but more like sheer sexy lacey. The dress could have worked with a few changes. Now the hair and make-up are awful with this dress.

  • MilaXX

Meh, it’s alright, but I wish she had stepped it up in the hair and makeup department.

  • bertkeeter

That front black part…” Casper the Friendly Ghost”?

  • quiltrx

It looks like she realized we could see her tits and hastily stuck on some black fancy-restaurant napkins.

  • Dawn Sinclair

somebody needs to tell that poor woman they have left the pins in

  • Deedles

I admittedly don’t know a lot about fashion, but it seems to me that if you (or your stylist) are going to choose a dress that has a deep “v” front and nothing to hide bra straps in the shoulder area, you had better go mammary commando or you will ruin the look of the outfit. Commit to the look and construction of the garment or wear something else!

  • greathill

She was in two excellent films – Made in Dagenham and An Education and in both she looked so different and at least ten years older. I think she is really trying to look younger by wearing so little makeup. I agree with the earlier commenter that she looks like Renee Zellweger. I like her looking a bit more sophisticated and older.

    • filmcricket

I’ve seen her in person and she looks nothing like Renee Z up close. I think it’s the hair that’s throwing people off here. She is just incredibly lovely and has an amazing voice, I don’t know why she’s not a bigger star. But yes, the make-up is really unfinished and does not match the dress, which she is also wearing badly.

  • E. D.

Wow – skip the bra and fix the brows and this would be OK.

  • demidaemon

This looks like a conflagration of sewing mistake errors.

  • kathrineb

You may be a pretty lady but honey your dress looks like it has staples holding it together.
