Mia Wasikowska Venice Film Festival Double Shot

Posted on August 30, 2013

We think we liked her better as a blonde. Oh well. Maybe it’s for a role. At least she’s still working it on the style front.

Mia Wasikowska attends the “Tracks” photocall during the 2013 Venice International Film Festival in a Proenza Schouler dress.

Really cute. Much as we love the shoes, they’re not providing enough of a contrast for us. They’d look spectacular with pants. And this dress would look a bit more lively with a metallic or colored shoe.

Seriously, that’s some drab hair. Even if it’s for a role, she didn’t have to wear it like that. It’s really bringing the look down.

But if we had quibbles with the above look we’re pretty much totally opposed to the next one.

Mia Wasikowska attends the premiere of “Tracks” during the 2013 Venice International Film Festival in a Nina Ricci gown.

It’s not necessarily a bad look on its own, but it really doesn’t strike us as the best kind of look for her. For one, she’s a gal who needs a little color or pattern. For another, this just feels a bit on the mature side for her. Worked that fresh-faced schtick while you can, girl. There’s gonna come a time where you’ll miss having the option.

      Recently saw Stoker…traumatized, haha.

      • Anne Elise

OH MAN. Me too. I was cool with the first 3/4’s, thinking it was basically female Hamlet. But it was not female Hamlet. Not at all.

    • marlie

First look: I like it, but if she’d added a colorful accessory, I would like this a whole lot more. Second look: It’s… fine. A little bit standard, but it strikes me as department store, off-the-rack.

    • Diego!

I think she looks pretty amazing in both occasions. The B&W must be for a daytime event and the black dress she is wearing on the red carpet looks gorgeous on her. It’s an IN two times to me :D

    • MilaXX

I don’t mind the hair color or the style. I really like the first picture. The second is just too old and serious a look for a 30sonethibg. Besides the dress looks like something Alexander would make

    • GillianHolroyd

That 2nd look does NOT fit her in the back.
      First look, drab meets sad.

    • kimmeister

She kind of looks like she could be Claire Danes’ kid sister. I like the darker hair color, I just don’t like the (lack of) style in the first shot. Those black and white sandals are hideous though. They make her feet look really wide.

      • Kristin McNamara

When she first appeared on the scene, back a few years ago when nobody knew her yet, I actually thought that’s who she was when I saw her in trailers and stuff. I specifically remember thinking, “Oh cool, I didn’t know Claire Danes had a little sister.” (This of course being before I found out her name.)

    • Jacquelyn

Didn’t even recognize her with the darker hair; she needs to be a blonde. It suits her more. The first dress is cute but yeah, the shoes aren’t doing a whole lot for it (which is sad cause those shoes are hella cute). The second dress is pretty forgettable on her.

    • hughman

They could both use some joojing up IMO. The first one borders on couture Sisterwife drag and the second looks like she escorts Oscar winners from the stage after their speech.

    • Terri Terri

Both looks seem lovely to me.

    • bertkeeter

Last look…that exsposed zipper is having a fit!

    • LauraAgain

I always felt that blonde hair washed her out too much. I actually like this color! But I do wish she had done something fun with it, and/or wore some big sparkly earrings to balance the skirt.

I like the second dress, too, but she needs to add some color via rubies or diamonds.

      • Kristin McNamara

Seconded about the blonde washing her out. I quite like this color. How she has it styled? Not so much. But I do like the brunetteness.

    • Louise Bryan

Maybe it’s too old for her, but I think she looks great in that second outfit (better from the front). I liked the first one too, but her hair has a growing out vibe to it, which is awkward. Being a natural light brown myself, I think it is a lovely shade.

I love her as a brunette. I can finally tell her and Carey Mulligan apart.
And I like both looks, but I could make minor adjustments to put that into love.

    • Kate4queen

The first one looks like something my dd would create in Minecraft, the second is much nicer.

    • kirkyo

How cute is the last pic from the first look?

    • Granny panties

Love the first first look, chic from head to toe, second one is ok only.

    • ceceliadid

Mia and Diana Agron are faves for making old school so appealing.

    • kathrineb

First dress is really cute sans the shoes. The second dress not so much.

    • nannypoo

The zipper on the second dress is awful. I like the first one a lot.

      • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

        The zipper ruins the dress.

    • LadyCelia

That second dress looks like a Home Ec project.

    • silly little thumb

She looks beautiful on both occasions, but I just can’t with the Rooney Mara posing.

    • elemspbee

      those b n w sandals rock!

    • Tatiana Luján

I love how the brunnette suits her. Her hair looks super soft and shiny and her skin glows.

    • unbornfawn

      This girl needs to accessorize.

    • teensmom99

I am just so thrilled to see black lace lined with BLACK and not beige that I will give her a pass. On a recent warm summer day, I was in downtown DC and saw several women wearing black lace/beige lined dresses as office wear and thought: “they really don’t know that they are giving off a peek-a-boo naked look, do they.”

    • Judih1

she looks dowdy in both dresses to me. she needs a more youthful style

    • alyce1213

I like her better brunette – blonde washed her out. I like the first dress, the second is pretty standard and has a lumpy zipper.

    • melanie0866

Completely (respectfully) disagree. Hate the first look; I think it’s shapeless and frumpy. I would have thought it was really cute in 1987. Now, the only thing I like about it is the shoes.

I like the second one a lot – I like her hair up, and the dress is pretty and simple and doesn’t overwhelm her, even though it’s black. My only quibble is that it doesn’t seem to fit her very well in the back. That zipper should be laying flat.

    • JP

I wish that “visible zipper” trend would go away. I think it would make a world of difference for that second look too.

    • Leah Elzinga

I REALLY like her hair and makeup in the second look. Swept off her face like that, with that totally GORGEOUS lip colour. It’s just lovely.

    • sweet_potato

That exposed zipper on the gown bugs.

    • Monabel

The black dress is dull and boring.
