Matt Bomer in Alton Lane at the 2013 US Open Kick-Off Party

Posted on August 23, 2013

Once again, Matt makes kicking off Sausage Friday so very easy for us.

“White Collar” star Matt Bomer attends the 2013 US Open Kick-Off Party in New York City in Alton Lane.

We would wear every single thing he’s wearing here. We rarely ever feel that way about male stars and their ensembles, but we’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve said it about Matt and his clothes. On top of everything else, the bitch has great style.

    Happy Friday to us!

  • Nicole C

    • Karen Belgrad

      I second this!

    • mom2ajs5

I was just getting ready to write that!

    • kim bunchalastnames

he looks like a better-dressed henry cavill, doesn’t he?

      • I was thinking that he should call his brother from another mother Henry and give him some tips on dressing.

Seems that a sport coat worn with jeans should not have a pocket square?

  • ushoda

How great is starting the day with you morning Bomer? Pretty great for me

    • Jessica Freeman

I see what you did there…

  • BazoDee

Every day should be Matt Bomer day

  • Just a beautiful specimen. Don’t watch his show (I did, however, watch “Magic Mike”) and honestly the outfit doesn’t do much for me (Lovelovelove the top portion; killer pattern mixing. The bottom is all meh.) but, just look at his face. Gorgeous.

    • Introspective

I thought the same. Love the top half. crisp. fresh. gorgeous color combo with his eyes. bottom half is definitely a pass for me.

but still he’s striking. cant take your eyes off him. so yes indeed thank god for sausage friday.

  • JasmineAM

He would be a great Bruce Wayne. I was having a shitty morning! Thanks Bomer for making all well.

    • MartyBellerMask

      Better than Affleck!

  • Perditax

TGISF! Am having an emotional day (just finishing watching Battlestar Galactica for the first time) so this is just what I needed:)

    • CakesOnAPlane

oh man, if you need someone who has been through it before as support, look no further. I vaguely remember calling in sick the next day…

  • NYCRecessionista

    Christian Grey.

    • conniemd

My daughter keeps talking about casting him for the movie. I haven’t read the book, but he’d be perfect, because he clearly has the bad boy look in his eyes behind that beautiful face. I think that’s what keeps him from being too purty. I keep saying he is the Cary Grant of this generation.

  • thecitysleeps

PERFECTION. That shirt/jacket combo is to die for. As well as his face.

  • Cavil needs to take some lessons. This is how it is done!

    • Nancer

I agree – what a nice way to start the day!

    • TAGinMO

Agree…to an extent. Their physiques really are apples and oranges. Bomer would probably look great in many of those 3-piece ensembles Cavill has been shoehorning himself into.

      • Are they? Cavill is broader in the shoulders but I wouldn’t have thought it was that dramatic. Bomer would make them work.

        • fursa_saida

          Cavill’s much more barrel-chested.

  • veriance

I want a pic of him and Henry Cavill together.

    • Just Me

      Yes…for Mommy’s special alone time;-)

    • Carly Warnock

Someone should get on that immediately. National concern!

  • HomeOfficeGirl

    Goodness…. perfect.

  • I just want to run my hands through his hair.

  • filmcricket

God. He looks like … dessert. This is us getting our dessert before we eat our veggies. Bless you, T and Lo.

    • Fordzo

I was just going to say that he belongs on top of a cake, he’s just too pretty. I could eat him up.

      • CakesOnAPlane

too pretty to eat, too delicious not to dig in. Ahhh the conundrums of Sausage Friday…

      • filmcricket

I was fully going to make a “you can’t have pudding if you don’t eat your meat” reference, but I figured that was just too dirty for a post where we’re all blatantly objectifying him. : )

        • Fordzo

It would go perfectly with my comment about “passing on this serving of sausage” I made in the Robert Sheehan post.

    • Shawn EH

Blueberry, strawberry and vanilla ice cream!

  • I want to make out with him, but since I knew he wouldn’t be into that, maybe he could just take me shopping instead.

    • Monzerrat Ontiveros

shopping???? the fact that he is gays doesn’t mean that a woman can’t go out with him to dinner, or somewhere else…

    • Jacqueline Wessel

He could help you put some pretty nice outfits together.

  • Just Me

*sigh* …so pretty… he just makes me feel like singing…”It’s a beautiful mornin’ ahhh. I think I’ll go outside a while and just smile…”

  • Fordzo

    Is the jacket seersucker?

    • alyce1213

Seems to be. I love seersucker — the white-on-white of this jacket is really nice.

  • Jane Ire

My god that man is beautiful.

  • ChaquitaPhilly

    He’s Lovely…Absolutely Lovely…
    Thanks, Guys!

  • MartyBellerMask

    Oh, DAMN.
And talk about dressing for the venue!

  • Oh, Mattie. Goooood morning.

    • StellaZafella

Like a good cup o’ joe. Everything about him is…perky…everything.

  • stephbellard

He is SO PRETTY if he walked by my construction site, I’d grab my crotch and whistle.

  • jmorino08

    Le sigh….

  • SewingSiren

Seersucker is so perfect for August.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Humina, Humina. Would that every man could/would dress like that on Fridays. What a Wonderful world that would be!

  • Leigh David

What a cutie patootie. I love the way the dark buttons on the jacket echo the jeans. What I especially appreciate is how his fashion sense is impeccable and effortless looking.

  • In_Stitches

The top half looks like it’s going to the derby, while the bottom is antiquing in the city, looking for a new arm chair.

  • Latin Buddy

Sorry guys, but NO. First, the jacket (seersucker?) looks so light/summer but the wash on the jeans are too dark/dressy. Second, there is too stark difference in the two pieces. If this were a female star, you would say it cuts her in half. Same thing. He’s pretty but fashion-wise, it’s a fail.

    • Candigirl1968

Yup. The top half says summer, and the bottom half says fall. That having been said, the concept (crisp but semi-casual) is perfect for the venue.

    • Sorry, but no. We can’t possibly count the number of times we’ve featured ladies wearing light tops with dark bottoms and never once criticized them for it. This idea that tops and bottoms can’t be starkly different from each other is entirely your own preference, we’re afraid.

      • ballerinawithagun

The more “normal” jeans keep the whole ensemble from going over the top and becoming costumey. This is the way my handsome, fashionable, straight, 28 year old, step son would work this kind of a look. Matt will be able to saunter to the bar, order the required Heineken, take a couple of sips, remove the jacket and be perfectly comfortable. I love the whole package!

        • StellaZafella

          (snicker) you said ‘package’ (snicker)

Okay, sorry, I’m having a Monday version of Friday and I’m desperate for a little levity.

    • TAGinMO

I loved the outfit and definitely wouldn’t call it a “fail,” but after reading your comment and revisiting the pics, I agree that a slightly lighter-wash jean may have been a better choice with that jacket.

  • Judy_S

“On top of everything else…” Oh, that everything else.

  • DamH

I’m not sure I like this outfit, but I don’t really care since it’s Sausage Friday and it’s MATT BOMER!!

  • Vanja

We would wear every single thing he’s wearing here.” Really, Lorenzo? Even the pocket square? 😉

  • ashtangajunkie

I’ve actually run out of things to say about him. There are only so many ways to say “hummina hummina.”

  • Jaeda Laurez

I have no idea who he is, but I absolutely am on board with whatever he’s doing lol.

    • conniemd

He is the star of “White Collar” on USA where he plays a con artist/thief/forger connoisseur of all things expensive and classy who is working with the FBI in as an early parole. You should watch it definitely

  • crash1212

  • mlle

After that master class in colour/pattern/texture up top, I’m feeling let down by his shoes. But that’s a quibbly, and he looks beautiful.

  • jw_ny

The subtle patterns, textures, and color combinations work great together. Really nice, relaxed summer look. I want to straighten his tie tho. I’d also wear everything too…well, except the pocket square, and I’d probably look ridiculous in those skinny jeans (in my dreams I’d wear ’em tho. ;)) I’d give him a werq on this one.

  • This may be the southerner in me talking, but that’s an ensemble that practically screams “white bucks”. Other than that, Mattie is his usual sartorially splendid self.

  • LipstickForPigs

  • carnush

So perfect for a tennis event. This dude knows what he’s doing.

    • MilaXX

Yes, the whole look is a nice, laid back way to reference the US Open, without wearing some cliched look.

  • Jessica Freeman

    He is so precious.

  • Waist up is perfection for the US Open Kick-Off Party. Waist down is perfection for running the kids to school in October. Together, it’s not so perfect.

  • JauntyJohn

For some of his counterparts this shoot could be a lesson in Photo Call 101.
“Like this. Like THIS! Everything fits. Hands comfortably at your sides. One foot slightly forward helps how you feel and how you stand. Shoulders back. Top button, buttoned…”

That he makes it look easy is more a tribute to his natural poise than to his looks, which are gradually moving past “pretty” and into Very Handsome Man territory as he (slowly, that bitch) ages.

  • amanda siegelson

    that is an AMAZING jacket.

the whole outfit is to die for – but the jacket is swoon-worthy.
    the boy ain’t bad, either.

  • ShaoLinKitten

Am I crazy for wanting white suede shoes with this? Minor quibble. He looks lovely.

  • BendinIntheWind

I really have a problem telling him and Henry Cavill apart, to the point where I started scrolling down and wondering “Wow, did Superman get a new stylist? Boy looks good!”

    • alyce1213

      They’re both impossibly beautiful men.

    • steeg of their own

Bomer has a better sense of style than Cavill. Cavill tends to wear suits with that somewhat stiff, “I did not get enough suit-wearing experience in my childhood” air that some men have. Bomer tend to wear suits like he was born in them.

  • stubbornthoughts

And I, too, thought this was Henry Cavill from the thumbnail. Either way, it’s a win.

  • marlie

I’m in love. Oh, and he looks FAB, too.

  • Uncle Spike

The hair. It grates. Don’t get me wrong…he is incurably adorable. But his hair is starting to approach 1970s douchitude, and I can’t with it. Bring back the shorter-coiffed Matt Bomer, and I’ll be a happier boy.
As for the rest, I agree with everyone: perfect, impeccably styled, etc. No problem.

  • ThaliaMenninger

    He is perfection.

  • Ashleigh

Does the white jacket make his head look enormous, or is it just a trick of the photography??

  • jen

Delicious. I need to start watching White Collar.

    • MilaXX

yes, occasionally there are shirtless scenes as well.

  • Monzerrat Ontiveros

why does he have a ring??? he’s married or something??. Love him!

    • Lori

      Yup, married.

  • seelebrennt

how is it possible that a human being is this beautiful? i can’t handle it. this is a face that would launch a thousand ships…

  • flamingoNW

  • decormaven

Gorgeous! The stars are in alignment for this look.

  • Qitkat

While I always appreciate Matt appearing on SF, I adore best his looks on his show, when he is slightly disheveled, and slyly charming the pants off of somebody. Or removing his own pants ;p

  • unbornfawn

    Very nice.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

He is a fine looking man in beautiful clothes that all go together. His tie is twisted at the bottom which reassures me that he’s human.

    • alyce1213

I had that reaction to the post last week — the one with the dog. There was a shot of him chewing his finger that reassured me that he’s human – “Is he biting his cuticle?”

  • alyce1213

I could just die from him.

  • Edward Thomas-Herrera

    I want to lick him.

  • DesertRodent

His imperfections are impeccable. The twist in his tie places an intriguing diamond (tag) right in the meeting of his front jacket panels, buttoned of course. He can’t possibly have seen that, can he? His perfect gray polka dot silk handkerchief is artlessly crammed in the pocket; he is dressing down here, of course; no fussy fold for him. And one of his shoes is ever so slightly scuffed. Perfection.

  • GillianHolroyd

The color combination of jacket, pocket square, tie and shirt are DIVINE. I am speechless.

  • MGMcD

I would also wear everything in this picture. You know, except the jacket, shoes and jeans. Mainly I would just wear him on my body.

  • frannyprof

    He’s so pretty. *Le sigh*

  • formerlyAnon

Fabulous jacket. Like the way it’s all put together.

  • steeg of their own

His husband is a very lucky man.

  • Lilyana_F

Damn… every single item is spot-on! A feast for the eyes 🙂 Thank you, Mr. Boner (typo, and it stays!)

  • demidaemon

What a great B-day present for me! Thanks TLO!

  • Shawn EH

Dress jeans.Love the blue, gray and rose hints of color.

  • MilaXX

Dayum his hubby is one lucky guy. I swear Matt could be the mascot of Sausage Friday,

  • ItsDicey

    Sweet Sausage Friday!

  • guest2visits

I don’t usually like white blazers or jackets – but he looks fantastic.

  • librarygrrl64

A+ blending of patterns, colors, and textures.

  • Karen

he is ridiculously perfect, men of the world- take note, this is how its done!
