Mark Wahlberg on the Set of “Transformers 4”

Posted on August 02, 2013

In the interests of providing you with an array of sausage today – a veritable platter of it, if you will – here’s a big, beefy, douchey, A-list movie star making a loud movie where lots of things will explode.

Mark Wahlberg films scenes for “Transformers 4” in Detroit, Michigan.

Enh. Whatever. The douchebag is strong in this one. We only ever liked him once in his career; when he was standing still, keeping his mouth shut and modeling tightie-whiteys. Everything after that has been a blur to us.

    He was excellent in Ted….

For some reason I kinda love him, even with his hideous past behavior. He seems to have turned around and is now just weird and eccentric.

    • jen

He was super funny in The Other Guys too. I too have a soft spot for Markie Mark.

      • Rhonda Shore

Me too…he was good in that PT Anderson movie where he played Dirk Diggler.

        • Heather

Yes, he brought a vulnerable sweetness to that role.

I’m ashamed to say, I find him hot. Even tho I can’t tell him and Matt Damon apart.

          • MissKimP

[slaps forehead] It took me until I read your comment to realize that this is NOT Matt Damon!

      • lindsmh

Me too. He was good in I Heart Huckabees, too.

    • JosephLamour

Haha that’s exactly the movie I was gonna comment about. Career highlight.

  • muzan-e

    .. that’s a pretty cool gun, I guess…

  • Karen Belgrad

Haven’t enjoyed him in a movie since he was Dirk Diggler. And even that was more about his costars!

    • sweatpantalternative

Yeah I’ll always give him Boogie Nights.

    • H2olovngrl

I loved him in The Departed.

  • Glam Dixie

Will theses Transformers movies never stop? Enough already!

    • GSMSF

At least they’re giving some much needed business to Detroit.

      • MrsBug

He gave a big shout out to Detroit on his interview with Jimmy Fallon the other night. I’ve always had a mild enjoyment of his stuff. Despite bad behavior, he seems a very dedicated family guy, which always makes me a little mushy.

    • Kristin McNamara

My first thoughts upon seeing this post’s title: “Transformers 4?! I didn’t even know there had been a Transformers 3!”

  • Jessica O’Connell

…They’re doing ANOTHER Transformers movie? Haven’t there been enough? They were all bad after the first one. Give it up already.

    • AnaRoW

Reportedly the last one was the best. I wouldn’t know having seen none of them but that is what I heard.

As for Wahlberg, I will never understand his appeal. He’s an okay actor I guess but I can’t get past the story of him gouging someone’s eye out.

      • JasmineAM

The last Transformers was literally the ONLY movie that I’ve seen where I said “When is this going to be over?” And I love actiony blow-shit-up movies. I swear the movie was 3 hours long.

      • jangma

I ardently disagree with that. The best I can say for the last one was that was less awful than the sequels the preceded it.

    • decormaven

There must be a big ol’ paycheck attached to this dreck. Oh well, it’s an acting credit, but that’s stretching the term.

  • Carleenml

He is definitely too old for that hair.

  • Carleenml

He’s a Massachusetts boy and I’m a Massachusetts girl and I have to keep a soft spot for him. I think he’s great at comedy but has definitely gotten douchey ever since he grew those obnoxiously bulging popeye arms.

    • gabbilevy

Had the pleasure of meeting him once. Brief conversation, but he was sweet and the appearance was for charity.

  • marlie

I’m ashamed to admit it, but I can’t wait to see this movie. I’ve learned to appreciate watching car chases and things blowing up for a couple of hours.

And also surprisingly, I think Marky Mark is HAWT. I never got the whiff of jerk/asshole/douchebag from him.

  • Jessica Freeman

I think Marky Mark here has retired his douchey ways. I think he’s hella hot…

  • mjude

i cant help it, i think he is so cute.

  • Imasewsure

He is actually one of my favorite ” big, beefy, douchey, A-list movie stars” but these pix aren’t doing much for me…

    “Hey Donkey… you’re a donkey… say hello to your mother for me”….

  • etselec

I don’t find him attractive, but I appreciate his acting capabilities. I have similar thoughts about Tom Cruise. I wouldn’t do him, or even want to be friends with him, but I generally like the job he does. But yeah, these pictures aren’t any big thrill.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

I would have rather seen those pictures of him in the tightie-whiteys than these.

  • He’s never really held my interest outside of I ♥ Huckabees, and my GOD will Transformers never end?

  • Denise Alden

Best thing about these photos: that this film is being made in Detroit.

    • filmcricket

      My exact thought.

  • Guilty pleasure, this one.

  • MilaXX

Meh, don’t dislike him, he’s just never on my radar

  • smayer

He has been on my Rational Hate List since I saw his Planet of the Apes remake. All he does is flare his nostrils for every role. Douche indeed.

  • Shawn EH

He’s A-list now? Is that because there are no more good movies?

  • OrigamiRose

He’s quite funny in The Other Guys; I can’t remember what critic pointed it out, but Wahlberg’s performance came across as if no one told him the movie was a comedy. It worked quite well. (Plus: Steve Coogan is in the film too, always a bonus.)

  • alyce1213

Looks like today is Blood Sausage Day.

  • filmcricket

Liked him in The Departed and that was about it. These photos do nothing for me, and that they’re for Transformers 4 make them even worse. But I am glad to see Detroit getting some film money.

  • samo_samo

He owns his douchery – it’s his “thing”. Like you said…’Enh. Whatever’. ‘Ted’ was pretty good.

  • ShaoLinKitten

Is he a douche? Do tell. I liked a few of his movies: I <3 Huckabees, The Departed, Ted. Know nothing about him as a person, aside from that he used to be Marky Mark. Wonder what happened to The Funky Bunch.

    • FunButNutz

The moves in the Funky Bunch outclassed the Calvin Klein ads by a thousand percent.

  • Trisha26

Mark Wahlberg’s given some fine performances. Really object to your ” big, beefy, douchey” description. Not sure why you’re featuring him dressed in character just to pick and belittle.

  • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

I love him. Always have. Not even a little ashamed of it either.

  • largishbearishAtlish

I am sure this is a scene crucial to the plot…you know how intricately plotted these movies are right? monsters come, monsters bad, good monsters help…oh wait…that was too complicated..
    cash the check and smile!

  • prettybigkitty

    Short man’s snydrome. He’s only 5’7. Explains a lot.

    • demidaemon

Hey, don’t lump us all together! (At 5’2, I already have enough problems!)

  • quiltrx

He’s actually not a bad actor (though Donnie is better but doesn’t get the exposure). He just goes the route of a lot of other not-bad-nearly-good actors–taking the easy route with action junk.

  • imakeart

I’m with you 2 on most things, but calling him douchey? Not on board.

  • stephbellard

His best performance was in The Departed. He’s better in small doses.

  • Cz

    Feel the vibration!

  • demidaemon

This series of movies just pisses me off. Transformers is supposed to be about the robots, not people with the robots plugged in like a giant monster movie. I can’t even look at these photos without seeing red because of the rage-inspiring, nostalgia-ruining way these films have been handled.

  • conniemd

Wow, can’t believe TLo hate on Mark Wahlberg. He and brother Donny are among my daughter’s and my favorite sausages. They have some magnetic testosterone oozing thing that just jumps out from the screen and stimulates our lady parts.

  • that facial hair… wasnt a great idea.
i like boogie nights. that movie had way better use of special effects than transformers, too.

  • kalisa

Marky Mark is a huge power player in Hollywood. Da fuq is he making “Transformers 4” for?

  • Nicole Little

I think he’s supposed to be short but he’s easy on the eyes onscreen.

  • GorgeousThings

Ah, I like him. He’s one of my homies. And face it, he’s a step up from Shia LaBoeuf.

  • littlemac8

    What about The Fighter, ya’ll

  • boweryboy

    Douchey but doable.
