    • Diego!

I like everything here, specially her make up, she looks fresh! But… what are those mirror shoes?

      • YoungSally

Just the thing the nuns warned us against!!!

        • kim bunchalastnames

… which was why i wore them!

    • Karen Belgrad

Is it the green lace? The whole thing looks way too MOTB for my taste!

      • drdarke

She’s born the year after me so she’s in her mid-Fifties, @Karen Belgrad – while she looks great, she’s not a kid any longer.

I think that outfit’s both attractive and age-appropriate – I even like the shoes for their playfulness.

        • Karen Belgrad

The silhouette is fine (and, yes, age appropriate), excluding the funky middle section bunching. I think it’s just aversion to an all-lace green dress that’s tipping it into wedding territory.

          • drdarke

            Okay, that’s a far cop I suppose, @karenbelgrad:disqus .

            I was just – Wow, I wish I looked that good….

…or the Male Equivalent! ::looks around furtively::

      • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

        My first thought was MOTG.

        • Louise Bryan

My first thought was frumpy, and I stand by it.

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

My, what a gorgeous face she has.

    • Sobaika

Not the best fit around her midsection, but I love the color and shoes.

      • MoHub

The shoulders also don’t seem to be quite right.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Far too matronly. What is WITH all these dowdy looking lace frocks?

      • conniemd

No idea. Her clothes on Revenge are never matronly, they are age appropriately sexy.

      • Dorothy & Michael n/a

Definitely matronly. I swear this is a slightly altered version of a dress I wore on stage when I played Myrtle Mae in “Harvey” about 15 years ago.

    • Lola Channing

why do they always have such horrible backgrounds? We suggest a lawn party at dusk with a breeze blowing white diaphanous curtains throughout. Much better. It’s Hollywood. Surely, that’s doable.

    • Monzerrat Ontiveros

it needs a belt in a contrast color and better hair.

    • MilaXX

Nope, still not liking lace dresses even in green. ‘m really not liking a green lace dress worn with a black bra.

      • mjude

the dress doesnt even look expensive. very cheap & i am over the lace dresses.

    • Chuck Barthelme

If the hem was a bit higher, and possibly more open at the neck, I think she’d have pulled it off. Great color on her, and damn she is looking good at 54. Yowza.

    • KateMaryC

Second to last photo – is she wearing a black bra under there???

      • rajf

Exactly my thought! And now I can’t figure out the front lining.

      • neeBarbero

Yes, AND black panties, which I cannot unsee

    • marlie

New red carpet rule: Don’t wear head-to-toe lace dresses, because the glare of the camera flash almost always makes a dress look cheap.

Also, this dress is all wrong for her anyway.

      • alyce1213

        Especially lace with a sheen.

    • Joe Schmartin

Good lord, MAKE THE LACE TREND STOP!!! Also, baby Jesus, please introduce Madeleine to the concept of bangs; that hair/forehead combo has been killing me for decades.

    • bertkeeter

Not working…Hair needs to be off shoulders…dress lines cut her up in too many areas….needs some relief from all that green lace, something, belt or? Happy St Patrick’s Day!

    • majorbedhead

Honey, I can see your bra. Go home and fix that. And while you’re there, burn the dress.

    • AC Simons

I hate this whole look. So MOTB, ill-fitting, awful color, metallic shoes that don’t really go. Sad, sad, sad. And she’s so great looking.

    • formerlyAnon

Given that it drapes in a similar tummy-exaggerating horizontal swathe on the model, I’d say this is no-one’s dress. Certainly not Ms. Stowe’s. Also: almost shiny primary color lace. No no no no no. NO.

    • barbarienne

Maddie, honey, can we talk about the hair? You have fantastic hair, sweetie. Why does it look as if you’re wearing a bad wig that was dropped on the floor and then slapped on your head? That plus the matronly lace…sigh.

Go home, dear, and fire your people. You need new people who will recognize the fabulousness that is you and bring it out rather than cover it up.

      • Magatha

You’re right: the hair is great, the hair-styling is awful. It’s just never going to work if you have a highly Botoxed five-head, especially with dark hair and alabaster skin. The wig’s been dropped on the floor and then slapped on (OMG) a conehead. Madeleine, you can do so much better.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

Green! Hooray for that. But otherwise the dress itself is not to good and the shoes are a horror.

    • clevRcat

Beautiful woman. Blah dress. I, too, am way over the lace trend.

    • decormaven

Go away, lace frocks. No one’s really been well-presented in one so far this summer.

    • Trisha26

This fabric will never not look cheap regardless of color.

    • TonyGo

My Aunt Ruth’s Christmas tablecloth circa 1974. Add some silk poinsettia napkin rings and were good.

      • Chipster

Yep….Vintage Xmas tablecloth. Your Aunt Ruth and my Mom shopped at the same place since we had one too!

    • Imasewsure

Wait until Sally Field finds out that Maddie beat her to this ugly frumpy stumpy dress! Forest green lace…. what a GREAT IDEA!

    • AceOn6

Wrinkled mess, mostly as it’s the wrong size below the waist.

    • quiltrx

Ick on the dress. Lace looks cheap, and that color will never not be “Christmas Green” for me. I do love her though, I just wish there was a little more effort in her (usually gorgeous) hair.

    • Carla_Charlton

At first I thought it said “Burberry POSSUM”

    • Miss wks

      a bit matronly, no?

    • Richard

She’s all ready for Christmas dinner!

    • SugarSnap108

She has such a beautiful face – I wish she’d do something different with her hair. She’s been sporting that ‘do since Last of the Mohicans.

    • LaSylphide

Ugly dress, and is that her black bra showing in the fourth photo from the top? And she has no waist. Hair is limp. Shoes are ok. Overall, badly done. She deserves better.

    • Clydette Wantland

      Ugly with a capital U.

    • Lori

Madeleine Stowe is better than this. She is much too beautiful to be wearing this ill-fighting, cheap-looking dress. She needs to sic her Revenge character on whoever told her to wear this, because Victoria Grayson would not take this crap.

    • abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxqyz

      CHER!

    • Contralto

      NO. Just…no.

    • Not applicable

dress & fit aside- this lady is awesome! she inspires me to use night cream, cut the carbs and hit the gym. I could only dream of looking this good at 55ish.

    • librarygrrl64

This is a lovely color for her, but everything else is all kinds of wrong.
