She looks like a tree that’s being overgrown with Goth moss.

Seriously? This is how you protest that you weren’t at the VMAs? Love the hair and makeup but unless she is auditioning for Chicago I am unhappy about the dress.

    • Diego!

No honey, no. Nice trying tough. But this is NOT your dress. Your crotch is almost exposed. Watch out!

      • homofascist

Whose dress (besides a figure skater performing a tribute to Peter Murphy) is this?

        • Diego!

I don’t know but it’s far far away from being “hou couture”

        • Little_Olive

          Kristin Chenoweth? :P

        • Joan Golann

Dita is who I first thought of.

    • homofascist

I appreciate your restraint of putting this on the Whiteboard…

      • fuflans

HA! i remember your wit from wonkette (the layne years).

    • savicevic

      The hair ages her.

      • sojourneryouth

Yes, and it looks better darker, I think.

    • NoveltyRocker

Bottom half looks like lacy bermuda shorts. She really is going to have a boatload of hair and makeup photos to lock down her look when the PR storm ends. So far, I feel like sleeker, bolder hair and face suits her fashion leanings best.

      • 3boysful

Lacy Bermudas were my impression as well. Ick.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

Nawp. Normally I love her, but this is just all wrong. It’s very tacky showgirl.

    • marlie

I’m sorry, but this is an OUT from me. But, having said that, it’s still not as bad as some of the ish on the red carpet at the VMAs.

      • Monabel

        In that league, though.

    • mlle

If the non-sheer midsection had extended all the way to the hem, I think this could have worked as a sort of vampy glamour look.

Her shoes are still too big.

    • hughman

      Mrs. Cellophane.

      • kimmeister

        Should’ve been her name!

    • http://angrynerdgirl.net/ Jessi03

It reminds me of the hairy tights that Japanese girls are wearing on the subway. Not a good look.

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Yikes! Lily honey, give that dress back before it hurts you!

    • valerie saenz

      Spanx-free zone.

    • zuzu

      What a weirdly unfinished hem.

    • eowyn_of_rohan

      Swamp Thing lingerie.

    • Julie Chase

      YEGAH!

      Um, no.

    • Karen Belgrad

How to tell if one is doing it wrong: when a sheer dress makes you look thicker/hippier

    • http://www.GiftedCollector.com/ The Gifted Collector

      No, Lily, just no.

    • Sarah

Her hair is very pretty, but that dress tricked me into thinking she had see-through bike shorts on. And that is NEVER a good thing.

    • Sara Brams-Miller

What is with her flesh obsession???? Lately, she’s showing every bit of skin she can!

    • Stella Zawistowski

Is this what a widow wears to the adult video awards?

      • Little_Olive

        I love you.

      • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

        Damn.

    • kmk05

Oh no.First, this needs combat boots. Second, this needs no growing fungus or nicer lace OR a better dress.

      • formerlyAnon

You’re right. Combat boots would not have saved this but would have indicated that sanity had not been willfully abandoned.

    • MoHub

I had little hope from the thumbnail, but this was scrolldown fuglier.

    • alyce1213

      Oh no.

    • Beardslee

      completely awful.

    • Monabel

      Big Mistake.

    • Danielle

Goodness, I was REALLY not expecting the dress to be cut off so abruptly at the knees.

      • Jacquelyn

Until I saw it on the model I thought it was some sort of body suit that stopped at the knees. It didn’t occur to me that it was a dress until the second picture.

    • Jacquelyn

Eh gad! I’m just going to focus on her hair and face and ignore everything else cause Whaaaaaa—?

I still love her and believe she can come back from this horror.

    • Trisha26

Simply horrible. Static cling for days to turn that skirt into shorts. Wonder if it’s a rule that the worse critical reception a film receives the more garish/desperate the RC outfits?

    • Little_Olive

It’s… too much look, not enough dress. Fail.

    • filmcricket

That’s actually the first time I’ve really liked the strong lip on her, and her hair is lovely and sleek. That dress is an abomination.

    • AmeliaEve

The model photo looks like a Balthus design for an acrobat in Le Cirque Macabre. Lily almost pulls it off with that flirty over-the-shoulder shot, though.

    • Imasewsure

A personal worst for the dress perhaps but she still looks gorgeous!

    • Nicole Walraven

that dress is in no kind of way flattering. the dark sections pull focus in a way that makes her look kind of wide across the hips, and for all its sheerness i find it aging. it looks like they stuck her head on the body of a much older, more desperate celebrity. and i don’t like the lipstick. pretty hair though.

    • formerlyAnon

Holy Mary Mother of God. No. Just. No.

It’s beyond unflattering and pointless and encamped well into the territory of ridiculous.

    • Krysta

      ACK.

      • Ginny Ellsworth

        Bill the Cat realness.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

Beautiful top half. I don’t love any part of the dress, but could go with it if the bottom wasn’t sheer – that just looks cheap.

    • leahpapa

I am so tired of seeing this woman. Please, dear, go home. Your movie’s a dud and this outfit is crass. Uncles, isn’t Kiernan Shipka doing something – anything – worth showing us?

    • flamingoNW

Horrid. Do not like in any way.

    • SewingSiren

      A modern day pin-up .

    • MilaXX

Ah!, this trend is worse than the the granny panties/sheer skirt trend. I’m really over the sheer dresses, with strategically placed patterns. Make it go away.

      • conniemd

perfect description, strategically placed patterns. They have gone so far away from that gorgeous dress that Hallie Berry wore to the Oscars her winning year. I feel like everyone is trying to one-up the other to see just how clever they can strategically place the overlay design to avoid showing nips and good china, but everything else.

    • gsk241

Fig leaves for the modern gal-on-the-go!

    • bassfemme

This is the second look in as many days that showcase a just-barely-covered crotch with cleverly placed appliques. I’m officially over it. Hair and makeup are fab.

    • Beth513

Whaaaat!? No. Girl needs a nap, she’s clearly delirious with exhaustion.

    • Sara__B

Bless her heart. At least her hair and makeup are lovely, and the heels are nice.

    • lizajane1776

No. Not this time. That looks like black lace capris with granny panties.

    • Qitkat

      Bodice-eating crotch monster?
      Crotch-eating bodice monster?
      Lace Ness monster?

    • bertkeeter

      TRAGIC!

    • JuliaInBlack

LILY MAE COLLINS, you march yourself back to that closet and put on something else. RIGHT NOW YOUNG LADY.

    • Trickytrisha

I think she got everything wrong but the hair. The dress is a no go, the lipstick is a weird color for her. Is she putting more arch in her brows? They could use some.

    • crash1212

Is this like some sort of Garden of Eden – Fig Leaf With Lace type of deal? I do believe that’s one of the tackiest dresses ever featured on this blog. Ain’t nobody’s dress. The fact that Our Lily doesn’t look like a total idiot is just a testament to her fabulousness. BAH!

    • PastryGoddess

      Those are not clothes

    • decormaven

Aww, now her stylist is just screwing with us. “You love her, you love her, now we’ll try to slip a little junk by you.” Not going to work! That is a silly excuse for a dress.

    • Constant Reader

Little tip from me to you, Lily: eschew any garment that gives the impression that you haven’t shaved above the knee anytime in this century. You’re welcome.

    • Candigirl1968

Clearly she wore this on some kind of dare.

    • TigerLaverada

Wow, that’s ugly, whatever it is.

    • quiltrx

Gah, I HATE “let’s just cut this off here” unfinished lace!
I actually think this dress probably started with a good idea, but the execution is WAY off.
I do like that the hair and makeup are channeling her inner Dita!

    • Judih1

I am so sick of seeing her on TLO. She has gotten more visibility than her acting/styling talents warrant

    • Louise Bryan

She glammed it up, but that dress is UGLY.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

OMG. Who made her wear that? No one would wear that of their own volition. Did she lose a bet or something?

    • nicewilliams

      This could be cool, IF:
      a. It were winter.
      b. The event had a theme (movie premiere for something dark/Tim Burton-esque)
      c. It were on Cate Blanchett.

    • HVM

      No.

    • ConnieBV

      Scrolldown fug.

    • Jessica O’Connell

      Oh dear, this is awful.

    • Garcia Loca

Gurl. Just because you have the body to pull of an “attack of the crotch” dress, doesn’t mean you should.

    • NOLA_gal

      WHAT?!?

    • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

      Ick.

    • demidaemon

      Um, no.

    • librarygrrl64

      Nononononononono. No.
