It’s the couch-electrical tape challenge on Project Runway!

    • Julie

      Visions of meat dress.

Scroll down super fug. I was feeling high on the late 70s/early 80s feel going on, but it quickly starting letting me down.

      • demidaemon

Kind of like the era, no?

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

          Indeed, my friend.

    • rosie5215

It’s AUGUST. It makes my ass sweat just looking at her. Honey, go home and put on a nice breezy dress to go with your beachy hair and the 80-degree temperatures.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

Huh…. there are things to like. The color is gorgeous on her. I like her casual hair and make up.
There are things to dislike – the shoes. Lace over leather – just looks tacky to me. The leather apulets (sp?)…no.

      • kimmeister

        It’s “epaulets”.

        • HomeOfficeGirl

Ah – thanks. Too lazy to look that one up.

    • IamNOToneofyourFANS

Don’t like this at all. The shade of red leather gives me, well, a visceral reaction.

    • hughman

It’s like a seatbelt for your camisole.

      • newsieneighbor

        Dayum, that was good!

    • MilaXX

Girl is that ever not your dress!

      • Rhonda Shore

It looks cheap and confused. I actually prefer it in the more monochrome palette, because this accentuates the overwroughtness of the dress.

    • Sara__B

Okay, previous posters, it IS the color of raw beef and it DOES look sort of like a Project Runway challenge, but I like it on her anyway, with a different pair of shoes.

    • twigg

      Well, it’s not boring.

    • homespunner

      She’s wearing Sofia Vergara’s dress.

    • teensmom99

I love her make up here. And good for her for going for something outside her comfort zone. I’d say it looks about as good as a leather dress can. There, I’m being sweet as possible again and accentuating the positive in this look.

    • bellafigura1

      She looks like a Twizzler.

      • kimmeister

        Or a fruit rollup!

        • Denis

yesss! It’s a fruit rollup! Her red carpet looks are often so painful… Leather is not your friend honey…

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Leather works on so few. The shoes are a total no but again, all I can see is Dirty Hair!!!

    • decormaven

Her looks are consistently a miss, mainly due to the lack of proper hair styling. That’s a busy outfit and footwear, paired with messy hair. Doesn’t work on any level.

    • kimmeister

The shoes remind me of the coral monstrosities that Taylor Schilling was wearing the other day.

The contrast of red and black makes it look so much more bondage-y than the model’s version.

    • Diego!

I like it but as someone pointed out, it’s August… so her underwear must be drenched! Gee… and those shoes, tough amazing ones, don’t go with this dress. It’s too much

    • Miss wks

      Lovers forever…face to face
      My city or mountains
      Stay with me stay
I need you to love me
      I need you today
      Give to me your leather…
      Take from me…my lace
Please for the love of gawd
      Take from me my lace…

      • JulieK

I knew if I scrolled these comments there would be one other person like me that immediately started singing Stevie!

      • MoHub

Precisely what ran through my head. However, I don’t think that dress is what Nicks and Henley had in mind.

    • Carrieanno

I keep picturing Elizabeth Banks’ face instead of hers.

      • MilaXX

        As Effie Trinkett?

    • Shannon Campe

Did she and her co-star Sofia swap outfits, or something? Is she tired of everyone comparing them? This is just…a big no. Ugh, especially for August. Looks sticky.

    • SewingSiren

She looks like she’s burning up.

    • Imasewsure

Let’s assume that the color doesn’t look like raw meat in person…. I don’t hate the lace but the dress is too long or needs a fuller skirt (also shorter please). Shoes are awful and do agree that beachier would have been much better!

    • Lilak

I find this get-up the physical manifestation of her performance on the first “Talking Bad” show last week. (That is: way, way, way more than was necessary.)

    • Joanne Abrams

Ugh, not a good look. Leather and Lace in August!!

    • demidaemon

This is the picture perfect definition of too much: too much leather and too much fussiness (in both the dress and the shoes).

    • Amy909

If I had to pick one, I’d pick the navy. oh and i’d take off the lace.

    • Pterodactyl111

I would have picked other shoes, but I like the dress.

    • PeaceBang

It’s like something an older Pinky Toscadeo would wear to her son’s Bar Mitzvah. And therefore, irrationally,I like it. “AYYYYYY” (Fonz voice).

    • a_liking

      it’s a Mord’Sith evening gown! (….anyone?)

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        HOW did I miss that?!?

    • frannyprof

Thanks for the Stevie Nicks/Don Henley earworn, Ms. Bowen (and TLo).

    • Anniebet

So much to kvetch over. Those shoes are too big, too fussy, too ugly – they look like they’re trying to eat her feet. Horrible dress color – nobody should want to wear a dress that makes you look like a slab of uncooked rump roast. But most of all, the “duct tape” detailing give me the giggles. She’s a pretty woman, deserves better.

    • Tara Gray Burkholder

      Skin: too tanned, too shiny.
Hair & make up: Looks like she just came from working out
Dress: LEATHER?!??! In late August? Oy.
      Shoes? Fug.Lee.

Girlfriend needs to fire her stylist.

    • quiltrx

She’s looking pretty honky-tonk these days to me.
And the dress, in black, about 2 months from now, might be pretty good.

    • JauntyJohn

      From the “True Blood” collection.

    • pookiesmom

I’m not a fan of the dress or the look, but she’s looking a TON healthier than I’ve seen her in recent years. She was kind of scary gaunt for a while. So for that and that ALONE I give her an “in.”

    • MaggieMae

Something must be wrong with me. I kinda like it.

      • Qitkat

Me too. I think she looks pretty and healthy and happy. I prefer her version to the navy, as here, the black straps provide great contrast.

      • Dan_In_NYC

Not loving the shoes with the look, but otherwise I can get on board. I like it. That said, I completely see why a lot of people would hate this

    • Joey Melliza

she looks like a $50 hooker

    • mhleta

This needs a simpler shoe, but otherwise, this is a really cool dress. Love the color and the addition of lace softens the whole look. I like her tousled hair, too. She can look severe because she’s so lean, but this is a great look for her, IMO. What possessed her to wear leather in LA in August is another story.

    • Sara Brams-Miller

      I kinda like this . . .

    • altissima

In theory I don’t want to like the dress, but I think she looks great!

    • Chuck Barthelme

If it was fall, this would be a killer dress. Looks great on her shape. But it’s still summer, so leather is an odd choice. Also, beachy hair with a leather dress seems a bit strange. Still, gotta admit she looks pretty good in it, despite the issues.

    • ThaliaMenninger

Bless her heart. That is a terrible color for her. But what do I know? I like peach.

    • marlie

Girl, that is not your dress.

I love the dress on the model, but I don’t like the color choices on Julie’s dress. And that much dress called for simpler shoes.

    • Danielle

I think my grandmother had that same material on her couch.

    • formerlyAnon

      Those shoes are awful.

    • http://thishotoldbroad.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

I almost like the dress. The shoes need to go. And what’s with the messy hair? Altogether, this adds up to, No. Try something else.

    • Clydette Wantland

Isn’t this the second dress with lace sleeves (see Christina Hendricks yesterday) we’ve seen this week on a celebrity? I hope that’s not a trend. Not liking it.

    • Shawn EH

      A whole lotta look.

    • oohsparkley!

Her shoes are so big, it looks like she’s playing dress up in Mommy’s closet. I like the dress and the retro vibe doesn’t bother me obviously.

    • librarygrrl64

She is kind of working the dress. But the shoes are too much.

    • Nika E

It looks to big and the color is not for her. It may be been better if it was a bit more fitted and no black around the waist.
