I like it, but she seems to be uncomfortable, doesn’t she?

  • Zorkness

    Nice, but hair seems wrong.

    • eowyn_of_rohan

There is no scenario in which that hair could be right.

      • barbarienne

“I just woke up and haven’t brushed my teeth yet.”

      • DilettanteDeconstructed

        Meg Ryan circa 1994?

        • Nelliebelle1197

Actually, I was just thinking that Meg Ryan’s plastic surgeon is probably already planning her injections and lifts.

    • kirkyo

It’s too bad, really. Otherwise she looks great.

  • NBG

Whoever convinced her that this haircut was flattering should have to report to their hairstylist overlords for punishment and retraining.

  • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

    Her style is just tragic.

    • mshesterp

      I just can’t with this one. I give up. It’s all…mom-ish.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Hmmm… not great, not bad. Hate the clear clutch tho..that’s just odd.

    • 3boysful

Glorified makeup bag. In Atlantic City in an octogenarian’s canvas tote.

    • neeva

Agreed. And why is it called “Mystery Palace” when everyone can see exactly what’s in it?

      • kimmeister

Because it’s a mystery why anyone would buy it?

    • Lucía Gavello

At least she’s not on her period, carrying a tampon in there would be awkward.

      • marlie

That is forever the question that I have with these clear clutches. I pity the people I’ve known who work in department stores and are required to carry clear purses to deter against theft.

        • kimmeister

          I’ve never heard of that! That’s . . . unfortunate.

        • Lucía Gavello

That sounds awfully invasive and unnecessary!

        • lrhg

Yup, I have to. The trick to to jam so much stuff in there that no one can really see anything.

  • eowyn_of_rohan

A step in the right direction. Mazel tov for not looking like you’re showing up for your 25-year high school reunion for once.

  • Rand Ortega

    Her hair is killing me.

  • Chipster

I really like the top and red is a great color on her but the hair seems far to casual for the occasion.

    • sagecreek

The whole thing seems pretty caszh for a premiere.

  • tonibaloney

The outfit looks great for once, but the hair and makeup aren’t working at all.

It almost looks like she has a Willam-esque 5 o’clock shadow going on. Bad contouring.

  • marlie

It’s a cute little outfit – actually the best outfit she’s worn in a while. What I don’t get is the complete lack of effort from the neck up. Her makeup is practically non-existent, which wouldn’t be a problem if not for the too-severe drawn-on eyebrows, and just-woke-up-hair.

    • eowyn_of_rohan

Those eyebrows. Mr.Potato Head would like Julianne to return them.

  • MilaXX

This almost works. If her hair & makeup wasn’t so bad, I’d give her a pass. I do wish someone would tell her that the see through bags should have anything more than a phone & a lipstick in them.

    • marlie

Isn’t there just a phone, a lipstick and a compact? That seems reasonable to me.

      • MilaXX

There appears to be something else as well It’s next to the compact, but I can’t make out exactly what. IMO the clear bags should never have more than 2 things because then they start to look messy.

        • marlie

I think you’re right that there’s something else, but since I can’t even tell what it is, I’ll stand by my previous statement. 😉

  • Catiline

One of the best things I’ve ever seen her in. It has some personality and interest, and even kind of works with that godawful hairstyle. This is close to being an Attagirl.

  • kayleymaybe

She dresses like a Golden Girl.

    • Rand Ortega

There’s really nothing else to say.

    • Molly

It’s Granny Chic, but I like it.

  • Amy909

I actually love her in short hair, she just styles it wrong most of the time! The top and pants together are way too matronly. Wish she picked one and paired it with something more modern.

    • marlie

I’m glad she wore these pants instead of the runway pants. THOSE would have been seriously aging.

      • GillianHolroyd

Now see, there I disagree. I think these pants look like daytime-running-errands pants. The drapey ones look more formal. Aging perhaps, but definitely more formal.

And she needs to chop a couple inches off her hair if she wants to continue with this piece-y bob look.

        • marlie

We’ll have to agree to disagree on the pants, but I’m right with you on the hair.

      • I wish she’d worn the dress we see walking away in the runway shot.

    • ankali

Cigarette pants would have worked better, I think.

  • Mazenderan

The trousers look like a completely different garment on her – not half as nice and drape-y as they did on the model.

Also – she needs to brush her hair

  • appliquer

I think she’s trying to channel Meg Ryan with the hair. That is always what I see when Julianne is featured lately.

  • 3boysful

I don’t mind the hair [ducks arrows] in theory . . . however, it’s a good very casual look that doesn’t seem to be too versatile, as she doesn’t change it to accommodate her outfits and the occasion.

  • Sara Brams-Miller

She looks like Tweedledum. Or Tweedledee. I can’t figure out which.

  • Sort of what I imagine Meg Ryan to look like once she’s seventy.

    • anyalama

Exactly! My first thought, pretty much every time I see her, is how youthful and fabulous she looks for someone in her 70s. With that in mind, Jane Fonda would look pretty great in this.

  • mmebam

    First grade teacher realness…

  • teensmom99

For those of you who have been on fashion blogs longer than I have, is there a term for scroll up or down fug. I loved this in the thumbnail because the blouse is great on her and thanks to the Steve Jobs and co., it was too small to see her make up on the ipad mini. But hair and make up aren’t doing her favors–nor are the pleats in the pants. So as long as I focus on the blouse, it’s a win.

  • Getoverit

I love everything except the clear “I work at the mall” clutch. That being said, do her brows look too painted on? I get emphasizing them, but in these pics they seem extreme.

    • Worse than the mall, The Cracker Barrel. They actually require their female staff to carry clear bags. Guess they think terribly paid waitstaff will be tempted to steal from their front store.

      • Tess Danesi

Good. Another reason never to set foot in a Cracker Barrel again.

      • lrhg

A lot of department stores require the clear bags too- mine does. I don’t really mind besides the fact that they look stupid.

  • Louise Bryan

Clutch is a fancy version of what I was allowed to carry when I worked in a discount store, to make sure we weren’t trying to shoplift. Hair is a mop. Clothes are cute and the right size and a good color, so there’s that.

  • crash1212

The only “mystery” about that clutch is why would anybody carry a purse you can see through? I don’t hate this, but she just bugs. I don’t know why. Also…they eyebrows are too dark and they through her entire face off.

    • Toby Wollin

Sorry, but that clutch looks like a fancied up elementary school pencil case from 1958. I cannot imagine why someone would carry something so that everyone gets to see your crappy used Chanel compact.

  • Karen Belgrad

I’ve got it! She’s allergic to all make-up except a brow pencil. Amiright?

  • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

Dial back on those brows, sweetie.

  • Anniebet

I dunno what happened to the lovely, vibrant Julianne, but this is 45 year old matron territory. Lovely fabric on the blouse, but the overall effect is elderly. And those brows…good grief! My manicurist has her’s tattooed on with a similar effect – dreadful.

  • majorbedhead

God, are clear plastic clutches making a comeback?

    • marlie

They’ve been around quite a bit for the last couple of years.

  • Maluca

All I see are eyebrows staring at me.

  • conniemd

The dress on the runway behind this outfit looks like the same fabric and seems gorgeous from the back. I think the top needed to be paired with a skirt rather than pants.

  • formerlyAnon

Love the blouse, ambivalent about the slacks, hate the clutch. Know nothing about her usual style so can’t say if this is a fair stab at event-appropriate.

  • KayEmWhy

    Who does her eyebrows? Oiy!

  • bellafigura1

    OK, she’s officially annoying.

  • macwell

    Her eyebrows though…..?

  • frannyprof

    Hate the sleeve length.

  • Sonja Brisson

The fried hair and fake eyebrows are a little too…what? Spend more time on your hair and less on the brows. And odd clothing — everything gets bigger in the middle. And to top it all off, a see through Glad bag so everyone can see the crap she is carrying. Where-are-her-gays? Another beautiful woman trying too hard to look worse than she looks getting out of the shower.

  • MzzPants

Either her handler has the tampons, or she’s done for the month.

  • akprincess72

WHY is she channeling Jen Anniston???

  • kathrineb

Better than her usual. The pants are cute. I do like heavy brows but are they a bit…harsh? at least on a blonde.

  • fringebenefit

I think she looks pretty cute here for a change. Perpetual style issues aside, I do think she’s the type of beauty who “reads” better live–still photographs just don’t capture what makes her so attractive.

  • SM

I loooove this outfit on the runway but on her the pants seem to fit wrong, like they’re too tight. They look too jodphur-ish.

And no to the hair my god, it’s like someone ran amok with a styling guide and a razor circa 2003.

  • guest2visits

The thumbnail fooled me into thinking it was a pretty dress with an interesting fabric. No. I hate the pants; weird cut and color. Not loving the see-thru clutch here; too much like a make-up case. Shoes re-enforce a mature, older lady’s overall look.

  • Imasewsure

It needs the baggy pants to balance the look… JH just isn’t a fashionista – almost never gets it right

  • demidaemon

The outfit is actually kind of cute, no? But the hair…Lord, that hair…

  • librarygrrl64

I hate see-through bags and her hair needs help, but otherwise this is a really cute look. Earrings would have been nice.
