Josh Hartnett in New York City

Posted on August 30, 2013

Hey, remember Josh Hartnett?

Josh Hartnett leaves his hotel in NYC working the rolled-up pant trend.

Hate the hair, Josh. But we expect vigorous disagreement from the kittens.

Here’s what we want to know. What do the kittens think of his cuff technique? It’s a thing now; the asymmetrical cuffing. Seriously.

Personally, it’d drive us crazy inside of 30 seconds. And besides, it smacks of the kind of thing a middle-schooler would consider trendy. So we’re asking (although we’re pretty sure we can figure out the collective answer):

The Asymmetrical Pants Cuff: YEA or NAY?

It’s a thing! No, really!

Like the cuff. Love the hair. I’m glad he’s still smoking hot!

      • Inês Martins

Agree…. he still looks awesome! YEA for me, but may be just his hotness answering for me…….!

    • elemspbee

This is hardly asymmetrical. YEA on this one. and I think he looks pretty.
Thank you TLo for working over time today! Happy labor day weekend.

    • Shawn EH

Nay. But you can’t tell a model anything.

    • CaseyinNY

A definite NAY on the cuffing. And I also hate his hair. When it’s that length, it looks like he has it in tiny pigtails.

    • Trisha26

YEA – but I don’t see it here. Just a wonky angle, maybe asymmetrical by accident. He looks GOOD!

    • annabelle archer

“Betcha that mouth got you that nose.”
Love this guy. Wish he’d get some work.
Nay on asymmetrical, in general. But this appears to be working for me anyway.

      • Kristin McNamara

Seconded. I wish he’d get back on my tv / in my DVD player too. He was like, a staple of my teenage years. These are the first pictures I’ve seen of him in YEARS, easily. But damn if he didn’t grow up good.

      • Aurumgirl

I think he’s been off getting himself a doctorate. Hence the lack of work.

    • Frank_821

Nay. it’s lame. Hate the hair. It does not flatter his natural good looks

    • Erica_Vuitton

I always wear my jeans cuffed like this. For me the asymmetric cuff only works when you’re fiddling with the length and you get distracted and forget to fix it. But once I notice it I always adjust it.

      Yummy man. Nice SF today.

    • Call me Bee

I’d-a never guessed that was JH. He looks a bit like Brad Pitt and/or Ashton Kucher. At any rate–no–hate the hair. Cuff is silly on a guy unless you’re digging clams, but it is a nice casual look.
ETA: Is it really a “thing” if a pudgy middle-aged woman from fly-over country wears her (my) jeans the same way in the summer?

    • Kassandra Silas

Nay on the cuffs. And I agree with you T.Lo, Nay on hair too. At least the shirt fits, right?

    • MK03

Nay to everything. I’ve never seen the appeal of him.

    • CeeQ

Hate it all: the cuffs (making my eye twitch), the hair (fug) and those are my high school sunnies. Which I regret.

    • StelledelMare

Nay to all of it. But really, what’s he doing now anyway?

    • giddypony

Hate the cuff. Hate the hair, hate the shoes. Ugh ugh ugh. Plus he reminds me of a bad period of my life where I saw him on every single talk show promoting Pearl Harbor

      • Dylgeah

I totally agree, but have to add the as the mother of a 9-year-old bespectacled boy who has killed at least 4 pairs in 3 years, those prescription glasses dangling precariously out of his pocket are making my face twitch. In the case or on the face!

    • majorbedhead

Uh, no on the cuffed jeans, unless you made an unplanned stop at the beach and are trying to keep your hems from getting wet. Hate the hair. And I cannot remember who he is at all, although the name sounds familiar.

    • MilaXX

YEA to the cuff even though it sets off my OCD. NAY to the hair cause, that’s too much douchery in one look. Either the hair or the cuffs, but not both.

    • StellaZafella

Nay. Asymmetrical cuffing was the thing when I was in Junior High…it was because we rode bikes and the cuff was because cool kids didn’t have chain guards on their bikes…of course guys wore extreme cut offs with their dad’s boxer shorts sticking out from under, too so…what can I say….kids in my school were kinda stoopid

I hope he’s just growing his hair out and it’s at an awkward length cause…purleeease!

    • kimmeister

Unless you are hastily digging clams, it’s a giant NAY. Pants cuffed to capri length on grown men are just nay in general. Legs shouldn’t look the same length as the torso.

    • hughman

“No no no, I just cuff them because it’s COMFORTABLE, not for fashion trends silly. Oh, are they asymmetrical? I didn’t even NOTICE one was exactly two inches shorter. Oh well, too late to fix it now! Have to get home and curl my bob!”

    • lundibleu

No. No, no and again no. The hair is horrible, and his trousers look ridiculous.

    • crash1212

Nay. Having said that, I think he looks great.

    • nannypoo

The pants look stupid and so does the hair.

    • Snailstsichr

Nay to the cuffs and the hair, but I dig the sun glasses.

    • marlie

I suppose everything is a “yea,” but it seems like an affectation to me. He’s hot, but he’s never gotten my motor running.

    • sockandaphone

i’ve been going to a lot of local shows this summer and it’s like the staple trend for all the hipster-y boy bandmates. That and shirts buttoned up all the way. I dont mind it!

    • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

Is he wearing pigtails? Because it really, really looks like he’s wearing pigtails.

      • sherrietee

I just asked the exact same thing! Because seriously. Pigtails.

    • Glam Dixie

      No. To all of it.

    • mmebam

Is he still a thing? Wow…

      Also, no to everything.

    • another_laura

Oh merciful heavens. Nay nay nay.

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

Cuffs that high up are a gateway to clam diggers. The asymmetry is just subterfuge and distraction. He is obviously a secret agent for the fanatical terrorist cell as International Male. He must be stopped before thong underwear is forced upon us. Send him to Gaytanamo. I am already drunk.

    • cheekypinky

I’m sorry, what were we looking at?

I got hit in the eye with a bicep and forgot.

    • macwell

I actually like the whole look – on him. Anyone else (beaides Johnny Depp) would look silly.

    • conniemd

Nay. It reminds me of some school kid given his brother’s hand me downs that he had to roll up the cuffs, thought mom said they were fine, but couldn’t get it even (being a school kid and not a fashionist icon).

    • fuchaforeva

      HELL no!!!!!!!

    • Lori

NAY to the asymmetrical cuff. It looks like an accident someone is trying to pass off as fashion. Playing the old “I meant to do that” doesn’t cut it for the cat when he runs into the wall and it doesn’t cut it here either.

The hair is also a NAY.

    • unbornfawn

    • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

Nay. To me, that’s a ‘Motown Drug Dealer’ look from the early 90’s. Thank God Josh still looks yummy.

    • Terri Terri

      Nay!!! Plus ridiculous.

    • homespunner

Nay. Spotto! (That’s for my daughter.)

    • jjtxgrrl

    • Diego!

      I have to say YEA

    • Laurie Landry

If your going clamming…I guess. Wouldn’t have known that it was even him.

    • LauraAgain

The cuff is … okay, I think it’s the shoes that he is wearing that make it a “no”. In the fourth picture down it looks like the picture is of a woman.

His hair looks dirty to me. But I’ve always been a fan of short hair on men.

    • Vera

Nay to the cuff’s and I hate the hair, but he still manages to be hot.

    • Viviennne

nay on the cuffs and nay on the hair ~ Josh, darling, you know better …..

    • Louise Bryan

I hate it when my hair does that flippy thing, because it looks like it does on this guy. Further, the right leg is definitely rolled one more time than the left, which is silly. I think this guy would have set my heart aflutter 30 years ago, but he would have been dressed more nicely, too. I don’t know who he is, and when he presents himself like this, I don’t care.

    • Coolekat

Why isn’t this gorgeous man working?

    • sherrietee

Is his hair in pigtails? Seriously. It looks like pigtails. I can’t get past that to answer your actual question.

    • Rand Ortega

No. I’d have an aneurysm inside of an hour.

    • Diana

Eww no, get away from me, asymmetrical cuffs! You’re making my eye twitch.

    • stephbellard

He’s hotter with short hair/buzz cut. He looked his HOTTEST in Black Hawk Down.

    • AnnPopovic

NO no no no no. Uhuh. No.

    • ashtangajunkie

Love Josh Hartnett. Dislike the cuff, abhor the hair.

    • amber.

Ummm… ALL OF THE YEA. It’s Josh Hartnett. I’ll take what I can when it comes to him. He still looks good. I wonder why they didn’t get him to play Steve Jobs instead of Ashton Kutcher. He’s a way better actor.

    • DamH

He’s a pretty boy but he looks fugly here. Sorry.

    • Imasewsure

Nay to the cuff but HELL YES to Josh… loving this look on him all the way around

    • ItsDicey

    • LuisaNL

Nay to the asymmetrical cuff, feels contrived and look ridic. Even with that awful hair he looks hot.

    • JauntyJohn

I always thought the right-cuff-higher thing was about riding a bike and not getting your pants caught in the chain… this became a trend? Huh.

    • ankali

Nay to the cuff, meh to the hair. He’s too pretty for the hair to drag him down much, but he has never been hotter than he was in Black Hawk Down. Of course, I could say the same for most of that cast. I have never felt more shallow than when watching that movie and drooling over Eric Bana. And Hugh Dancy. And Josh Hartnett. And Ewan MacGregor. And William Fichtner. And Nickolaj Coster-Waldau. Sigh.

    • WittyCism

Hmmm, Boyfriend Jeans worn by an actual boyfriend.

    • paultoes

      He looks like a lesbian.

    • Sara Leigh Merrey

No. And he does nothing for me.

    • LordZoe

yea! i do it. it’s fun. theres only so many ways to be interesting with my boyfriend jeans

    • Bill Craven

Nay; and I still can’t / won’t forgive him for being in Pearl Harbor

    • padma sallah

NAY on the cuffs. I do like his shoes though.

    • MartyBellerMask

The cuffs would get a NAY even if they were symmetrical.

His arms get a HELL YEA though.

    • viridian61

My mother remembers rolling her dungarees (as they were called) back in the fifties. It was a thing.

    • OffToSeeHim

Hurl. BIG-TIME no on both the hair and those asinine cuffs.

    • demidaemon

NAY on the cuffing. It looks stupid.

    • NurseEllen

      Nay, Nein, Nyet, Non, No!

    • XPT

Nay to the cuffing, YEA to the man!

    • Pterodactyl111

    • Fannie Wolston

This is good, clean untatted skin, casual with out douchebaggery, unaffected charm. However the hair….show me a guy with long hair who doesn’t leave it in the sink, on the comb or all over his clothes, if does he can have his long hair.

    • jw_ny

Nay to asymmetrical cuffs. Nay to clam digger length on men (unless actually on a beach clam digging, of course). Hate that hairstyle on him…he’s so much hotter with it short. This whole look turns me completely off of him.

    • guest2visits

I thought he looked fine until the rolled up pant. Threw the whole look off.
I can see the once-over length adjustment; but not rolls. Nay.

    • lilazander

NAY! the cuff is driving me nuts, too.

    • jmorino08

NAY to the cuffs and NAY to the hair. Big NAYS all around! It’s all horses up in here!

    • BuffaloBarbara

I don’t mind the hair, but it’s not great. But I can’t concentrate on anything but those horrendous cuffs!

    • formerlyAnon

IF I bought for one second that it really is a thing, it’s a stupid one. Nay.

    • Sara__B

NAY! Rolled up pants look silly enough already.

    • CT14

      Nay to the cuff!

    • Sadie-Ann

The hair weirdly reminds me of Heath Ledger in 10 Things I Hate About You.

    • heartbot

I thought he went bald for a while in there?

    • Despereaux

He’s still hot but for the love of God needs a haircut.

    • barbarienne

      Asymmetrical pants cuff: NAY.

Plain T-shirt on a nice solid torso: YAY.

    • jonnyf8

I’m surprised no one mentioned how good he looked in a towel during the first 30 minutes or so of Lucky Number Slevin. You all need to do yourself a favor and put that in your Netflix queue.

    • Big Bear

Nay. Nay hair also. Olive Oyl can rock that look but you, sir, are no Olive Oyl.

    • Dan_In_NYC

I saw jorts in NYC two days ago that were asymmetrical – which had me wondering “is that a thing?” Guess so.

It generally makes me think something is riding up somewhere – which seems like a no-brainer NAY on principle.

    • Lucas

Oof, he’s still a fox. Asymmetrical cuffs or not, he suuuure is pretty! Come back to the big screen, Josh!! Please?

    • snarkykitten

all I can think of is “lol”

    • kathrineb

ahhh Flippy hair. I hate it when my hair does that!

    • Katrina Mayr

I actually really like his look – I think the cuffs are only slightly off (one foot is raised after all) and it makes it look like he didn’t give two shits when rolling them (which is good in my book (one shit is enough)). I’m also not totally minding the hair, as it seems he has it mostly pulled back in a pony tail, but his wings are out. Better than seeing them drape in his face. Verdict: STILL HOT.
