Emily VanCamp in Calvin Klein at the 2013 TCA Summer Press Tour Party

Posted on August 05, 2013

When Emily was but a small child, she suffered a hardware store accident which left her buried under paint swatches for several hours until a rescue team could dig her out.

“Revenge” star Emily VanCamp attends the 2013 TCA Summer Press Tour Party in Beverly Hills, California in a Calvin Klein paired with Christian Louboutin pumps, bangle and earrings by EF Collection, and a ring by Dana Rebecca Designs.

She’s been mortally afraid of color ever since.

Nothing will make T Lo’s eyes twitch harder than someone whose skin, hair, shoes and clothes are all the same color. Have her lie down on some sand and she’d pretty much disappear.

Maybe she was styled to match the carpet.

  • imspinningaround

Is that a suede dress? In August?

    • Darcy H

Exactly my reaction. Maybe it’s because I live in Mississippi, but the thought of suede right now makes me ill.

    • hughman

It’s been hovering in the mid to high 60s here in LA lately. No idea why.

    • demidaemon

I can’t tell what fabric it is, and I don’t care. Because no matter what it is made of, it is still ugly.

    • calimon

I don’t care what the temperatures are where she is. It’s the principle of the matter.

  • Chuck Barthelme

Too bad, because if that dress was another color, she’d look awesome in it. I may be biased though, having a crush on her and all.

    • 3boysful

I’d have been happy with a colored bangle and colored pumps.

      • marlie

        Color SOMEWHERE.

  • Beardslee

You are so right; this is so wrong.

  • sugarkane105

Dammit Emily Thorne, get your shit together. Victoria Grayson would punish you for this dress in just one glance.
Seriously though, this girl is full-on gorgeous, I hate to see her looking so boring.

    • Tânia

I actually think she’s pretty plain looking, I don’t get the appeal

  • Heather

The shape of this dress is really figure-flattering, tho I am against side slits in almost all instances. And her shoes look 2 sizes too small (ouch!).

  • hughman

The whole effect is putty boring.

    • etselec

I’d say she’s in a very grayve mood.

      • tereliz

She’s made an egreigeious error with that dress.

        • etselec

If I were her mother I would *ahem* tan her hide.

          • LipstickForPigs

            Staupe it.

          • marlie

I just spewed my lunch on my keyboard.

    • oohsparkley!

      I dun know, it’s not e-greige-ous.

  • Kathy_Marlow

TLo write the best backstories ever for outfits. LOVE you guys!

  • mlle

It’s 1995 and she wanted to go to Halloween as Pocahontas, but her parents would only buy her a knockoff costume.

    • AmeliaEve

I was sad she did not wear her hair in braids.

  • I feel like, at home, in kinder lighting, she felt that this was elegant and refined. But in reality, it’s doing her legs zero favors, skin tone wise. Also, those shoes are a travesty. She is one who has the deck genetically stacked, there is little in the way of excuses I buy from her.

    • marlie

Pretty much EVERYONE we see on the runway has the deck genetically stacked in their favor, and they hardly do squat with it.

  • Tatiana Luján

I really like the shape of this dress for her. Shame about the color, though (and the fact that it’s a suede dress in August)

  • StellaZafella

Not since Detox did the Black and White “Kinescope” look…and she did it better, intentionally.
A brown back drop would make this look like an underdeveloped rotogravure print.

    • Constant Reader

Extra points for the use of “rotogravure print” in a sentence.

  • Joan Wilder

I think it’s supposed to make her look like she’s naked, ergo sexy?

  • MilaXX

    This dre…. ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz…

    • mjude

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Agree with all.. but it’s hard to be too mad – she looks amazing in this style of dress. Tho I thought for a second in the thumbnail it was Stacy Kiebler…

  • rage_on_the_page

Dear god. That looks like the material and color of a shitty, shitty couch.

  • Shawn EH

Whither our fierce super-spy of yore? If ever anyone needs a little black leather and dominatrix shoes ….

  • tereliz

Great shape but wouldn’t it be amazing in, I don’t know, a COLOR? Yellow, orange, red, green, I don’t care which, just pick one!

    • conniemd

Exactly. I was thinking teal or emerald green or royal blue. Yummy. I wish her stylist from Revenge dressed her for the red carpet.

  • nannypoo

She always reminds me of Stacy Kiebler only prettier. This dress is just awful.

  • Jessica Freeman

I see suede will be in for the fall….in greige.

  • Imasewsure

I’m going with “ultrasuede” just to make this that much worse…. it is deservedly so

  • Anne At Large

She looks like my sofa. Dear, “upholstered” should never be a style goal.

  • Anniebet

Love the hair and makeup here. The shape of the dress is very flattering on her, but yep, it needs to be another color. This is as neutral as it comes.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

Well she does stand out against that backdrop.

    • YoungSally

Given the Smurf-colored backdrop – I consider her outfit an eye palate cleanser…..

  • quiltrx

    She looks like a couch.

    • Qitkat

This IS my couch. Earrings and shoes in a color would have done wonders. Any color will go with this.
      She has lovely eyes.

  • MrsBug

If this dress had been a deep navy blue, she would have looked perfect.

  • pop_top

It kills me that she’s always in these blend-behind colors, because on the show Emily Thorne knows how to effectively rock a bold color.

  • It’s all very 2000, isn’t it?

  • marlie

  • she was also covered in nails and other metallic objects which has rendered her unable to tolerate the feeling of jewelry against her skin.

  • demidaemon

This is one of the most hideously colored dresses I have ever seen. And that’s saying something.

  • calimon

My sister has a similar complexion and hair, and has always been drawn to these kinds of shades. It has baffled my mind, and much to my chagrin, I have tried so graciously to introduce her to color, with luke-warm results. I must say, I am so relieved to read everyone’s reactions are similar to mine.
