I like this dress, it’s really fresh and pretty. The fit at the bust looks a bit tight, but other than that – I even like the hem!

  • Jessica Freeman

I wished it wasn’t so stiff looking. A little bit of movement would have helped this.

    • barbarienne

I pretend that all the geometric lines are actual steel trusswork, and suddenly the stiffness works a lot better for me.

    • Getoverit

I’m thinking it probably needs to be stiff to stay up. I have yet to figure out how to wear a strapless and get it to stay in place.

  • Lori

I will never understand caring enough to chose something so fashion-y and then wearing it with sch incredibly half-assed hair. I guess it’s supposed to read as “What? This old thing?”, but to me it just seems lazy and sort of dumb.

Huh, I’m not as big a fan of Diane Kruger as some people are, but she doesn’t usually make me this cranky. Maybe it’s because I’ve never been much of a fan of wallpaper.

    • Imasewsure

THIS! I like what she wears about 1/2 the time and then half of that is ruined by the styling… I think the crankiness is justified when it’s this kind of lack of effort coupled with the huge poledancing maneuver of wearing this type of thing in the first place…

If the skirt swapped out the slit for a shorter length it would have been perfect. Lipstick is off putting and hair is simply unacceptable.

And all of this makes me sad because of my obsession with Diane Kreuger.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

That dress is not working for me, at all. I love the colors for her, but that’s all the positive I can bring to it. And her hair looks like she hasn’t washed it in a few days.

  • MartyBellerMask

Love the dress. Don’t care for the hair.

  • alyce1213

I like the top of the dress, hate the bottom print. The wrap skirt is awkward, odd, and not really doing it for me.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

I think Diane thinks she can get away with more than she actually can….she isn’t a PHD in dress wearing like some of the lady stars (although when she has Joshua Jackson on her arm to distract me, I’m inclided to be more forgiving.)

  • NYCGlamourpuss

It’s different, but I like it. And she’s so classic, she can pull off something this unusual.

  • WoodnSalt

This look does nothing for me – or for her (it doesn’t even look good on the model). Hair and makeup are awful. She’s eschewed using a stylist, but it’s a tragic mistake.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

It’s certainly a Diane Kruger kind of dress and she’s pulling it off, as she’s apt to do. That is to say, better than most. But, I’m not loving the heavy feel of the make up and the half assery of the hair. I feel bad, I know she has thin/fine locks, and therefor can only do so much without adding artificial elements, but I still find it sadly lacking.

  • leahpapa

I can’t stop seeing a backyard rose trellis with a view of the Queensboro Bridge. (That’s not a good thing.)

  • hughman

“Oh they’re out of the fabric with the flying toasters? No biggie, we’ll just use the roses floating around graph paper. It’s so cultured.”

  • Coleen

I love the top and hate the skirt. It looks like the curtains my Great-Aunt Rita had in her ’50s-era kitchen in Jersey.

  • MilaXX

I like this dress and think she’s doing a pretty decent job with styling and all, but she’s too short. On the model the dress hits mid knee, but on her it’s a good 2 -3 inches below. I’s also like to see an earring on bracelet somewhere.

  • Diego!

It’s a little bit boxy and she seems to be happy. She is so gorgeous that in this outfit she reminds me of a porcelain doll.

    • demidaemon

I think she looks awkward. Maybe it’s the half-assed make-up and just showered hair that is coloring my perception.

  • Richard

The slit is over the model’s leg, but on Diane Kruger, it looks like the slit is in the middle instead? Maybe that’s why the skirt looks wonky on her. Is anyone else seeing this?

  • Sara Brams-Miller

Her makeup and hair look awful.

  • mlle

I really like her shoes and the top half of her dress, but it looks like she let a 14 year old niece do her hair and makeup.

  • Constant Reader

Credit where credit is due: the prints (especially the one on the bottom half) make this dress unwearable for the average mortal, but she’s wearing the hell out of it. I’d prefer a little less makeup and hair that has seen a brush, though.

  • Shawn EH

    Scroll down mystified. Pretty bodice.

  • River

    Upholstery material and weird lines/fit.

  • Sunraya

I think this is an odd dress. I don’t like it at all. She looks ok, maybe a bit unwashed.

  • ConnieBV

Neck down, Diane Kruger. Neck up, Sonya Cross.

  • sagecreek

I just want to yank up that dress. Diane, honey, it’s okay to go up a size.

  • conniemd

Anyone else watching “The Bridge?” I love her portrayal of Sonya Cross. Her character is a detective with Asperger’s Syndrome. It’s really amazingly perfect. What’s fascinating about it is that if you didn’t know the character had Asperger’s Syndrome you would think the character was played by an awful actress who had a very flat affect and wasn’t able to put any emotion into her character. It’s watching a good actress act like a really bad actress and it fits her character.

    • AnnPopovic

It’s all around a pretty interesting show with solid writing and I love Matthew Lillard — there’s something fascinatingly OFF about him. LOVE the writing and it’s just plain unsettling that the Lt. is the murderer from Silence of the Lambs; all in all it works to keep you just slightly uncomfortable and on edge through the whole thing.

      • teensmom99

At first it bugged me that they had to add Asperbergers to the mix. Not sure what it adds but the more I watch, the more I like her performance.

        • AnnPopovic

If for no other reason, it’s nice to see people outside the so-called ‘normal’ spectrum getting written into stories.

  • Anathema_Device

I dig the patterns together, but I wish there were less going on with the skirt. I think that much pattern+asymmetrical hem+seaming on the front of the skirt=visual overload. Would love to see a bracelet and some earrings, even just small ones.

  • neonseattle

always so fierce and bold in her red carpet choices. LOVE

  • formerlyAnon

Too much pattern for me. It’s pretty, but . . . too much.

  • Anniebet

That is one delicious dress. Too bad it’s not on the right person. She’s edgy, fierce, etc etc, but too short to wear this skirt effectively. Plus, that hair gives me heartburn. I’ve seen photos of her where her hair has volume, so I know it can be done.

  • MannahattaMamma

I love a dress with pockets

    • kimmeister

Is that a pocket though? Or is she just shoving her hand under the wrap part of the skirt?

  • teensmom99

Most fun dress I’ve seen in a while.

  • ankali

Love the dress (so, so, so much) and the clutch. Not into the makeup — looks both too-much and also old or melty-on-a-summer’s-day-ish.

  • quiltrx

I really don’t care for her at all. I *almost* like this dress–I like the textiles in pattern if not in the weight. But the weird bottom of the skirt is kind of ruining it for me.

  • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

Girl, those are not your proportions.

  • marlie

    I. LOVE. THIS. This is a great look for her. The dress is a little fussy and busy, but that’s her thing, and this time, it really works. The shoes and clutch are fine, and her makeup looks pretty, but I wish she’d done something with that limp hair.

  • http://www.dogsdotcom.blogspot.com/ Plink

    Oh. UGH.
