    Perfection.

    • 3boysful

That’s exactly what I was going to type until I scrolled down and saw you beat me to it.

    • housefulofboys

I’m really liking the juxtaposition of fall fabric with summer design.

    • marigi

Yes. I love Carven, and her for wearing it.

  • drdarke

I know she’s a major model and real clotheshorse, and likes to dress Joshua Jackson so they look like a set when they’re out together – but I’m not feeling this dress. Those creases feel like a mistake rather than deliberate draping, and the fabric looks like it’s off an off-price couch.

    • Kristin McNamara

I don’t know that I’ve ever disliked an outfit on her more. SERIOUSLY unflattering. And that fabric is reading so fall/winter to me.

  • Chuck Barthelme

Not in love with the hem length, or the wrap effect in the front there. But otherwise not bad. Whoever did her hair should be fired, though. Shoes are also boring, and she should have kept her hands out of the pockets when being photographed.

  • LadyCelia

I’ve been looking for that tablecloth for months!

    • carlaaxtman

Weirdly draped plaid bath towel. Also..not a stitch of jewelry..? Naked ears are begging for some dress up.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Like a doll. I would love to see a great bracelet here, or a funky ring, but her shoulders are a work of art in themselves.

    • drdarke

Yes, they are, @annabelle_archer:disqus – but the shoulders are part of the package, and most of us don’t have them.

The shoulders should not have to be doing the dress’s work for it – and while she’s made up, she’s made up in that “Not Made-Up Way” that tends to wash out a bit on a light-skinned blonde like her. And the shoes are – yeah, a yawn.

Like the hair, though – casually elegant.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Ugh…Hate everything about this. The colors (for her), the length, the shoes, the toe nail polish, the folds in the bodice. I guess I like her make up and hair is OK too.

  • KellsBells

It must be fun to be that pretty.

  • filmcricket

She could teach a master class in posing. This dress really doesn’t do much for her, yet she’s making it work as well as it can.

  • Karen Belgrad

Will the other VonTrapp children be joining her in their picnic table cloth frocks?

  • Jamie M.

I think I get what this dress is supposed to be doing, but I feel like it’s not doing it. Or maybe I’m wrong and this is just what it is.

    • Tatiana Luján

I thought at first this was a really bad Vivian Westwood knock-off.

      • Jamie M.

Precisely what I thought. I thought it was low-key version of those dresses that Ms. Helena favors.

  • Tatiana Luján

I like the fabric, but the bumps and folds of the dress make it look amateurish.

  • Cloveradams

This looks as if she wrapped a bolt of fabric around herself, stuck in a few cunningly placed pins, and ran out the door.

    • majorbedhead

Totally agree. Not a flattering dress at all. And the White-Out on the toes is awful.

  • flamingoNW

Oooh I really like it, head to toe. Disappointed in her new show. She’s good but I think she’s miscast and she’s a distraction from a great concept/story. Too bad. Cute dress, though!

  • bertkeeter

Prettty damn chic! How’d that happen????

    • marlie

Definitely an example of the look being far more than the sum of its parts.

  • Tess Danesi

I am just thankful she didn’t choose to wear the monstrosities on the model’s feet. Open toed, sling back loafers? Must we go there? Weren’t opened toed booties enough torture for our souls?

As for Diane, she’s just so pretty. The dress is okay but she is divine.

  • IMNAngryLiberal

So in re the LiamH post, this is where all the plaid went to die. This is a bad, sad dress and Diane (who appears to continue to think she can wear anything and get away with it, evidence to the contrary notwithstanding) can’t save it.

  • MilaXX

Like the precious post, it’s fine, but not spectacular.

  • zuzu

What — WHAT — is that on the model’s feet?

    • Glam Dixie

Don’t make eye contact and back away slowly…

    • Jamie M.

They were loafers, but being that they shoved her feet into too-small shoes, the front and the backs of the shoe popped off. This is the result. Let that be a warning to all.

    • BarniClaw

Holy Christ, those things are horrific.

And is anyone else watching The Bridge? I’m about four eps in and I really can’t get behind her character. Just…really off-putting and odd and I have no idea how she’s keeps her job. I don’t see how her Asberger’s gives her any superpower other than really irritating people. Unlike other “quirky” detectives like Sherlock. Does it/she get better?

      • Vanja

Watch the Swedish/Danish original : Bron/Broen, it’s very good and Sofia Helin plays the character so much better. I feel sorry for her and she often makes me smile. I’ve given up the US version, because I got annoyed by Kruger’s version of Saga.

The model’s shoes are ugly. I just don’t understand why they published this photo, the shoes are too small and her toes are hanging over the edge!

        • BarniClaw

Thank you! So good to know.

          And, ugh, those toes!

  • Lilyana_F

This looks like I draped it after 5 vodkatinis. And the shoes on the model are offensive, I hope they don’t become a “thing”.

    • HomeOfficeGirl

Perfect description – those shoes are offensive.

  • Dreamwr8tr

Schlumpy plaid bedsheet in the front does not add interest; it looks like a mistake. She’s lucky she’s a model.

  • kmk05

Um, no. The draping is atrocious and looks like she wrapped herself in a nice plaid and stuck a belt under the folds of fabric at her waist.

Her Type-Ex-ed toe nails are horrendous.

ETA: Her face and hair and posing, as usual, are perfect.

  • marlie

I love this. LOVE. Sure, the hair and makeup are really understated as usual, but it’s really ok with me this time.

  • par3182

The Golden Globe pole dancing has started early this year, hasn’t it?

  • Shawn EH

One piece of fabric, expertly draped, good job, Carven! And the shoes seem to fit.

  • SewingSiren

Cocktail dress made from business type fabric. Perfect for the event.

  • BazoDee

I don’t know that I’ve ever said this about a Krueger outfit – but I’m not loving it. It is not very flattering in shape or color. Love the shoes and white toenails though.

  • terpsichory

I think she looks lovely, even if the dress is a little shapeless.

I would love to know her lipstick colour. We have almost the exact same colouring and this one might actually work on me.

Any BKs well-versed enough in the art of face painting to have a suggestion?

  • formerlyAnon

I like this a lot. Even though I am not sure why one would design a bodice so it looked as if it didn’t fit right, but it’s clearly intentional so someone must have..

  • Qitkat

This gives me an idea for a PR unconventional materials challenge. Take a market-sized picnic umbrella and….

  • Beth513

Looks like someone snuck up on her and Pacey while they were doing it on a picnic blanket and she quick wrapped it around herself and ran off to this event. You know what this means right? Somewhere there is a naked Pacey :)

  • Nicole Walraven

tablecloth. i want to like it, for the casual feel. but the heavy looking fabric, coupled with the odd draping…it looks like she wrapped herself in a tablecloth.

  • appliquer

Sorry – looks like a sack. She usually has no misses – so this is a surprise. Love her new show!

  • guest2visits

So so. I like this plaid and I like using it as a dress but it’s a little too baggy & saggy around the bodice.
I would rather see it trimmer with some little sleeves or straps.

  • LaSylphide

Happy to see plaid, but I’m not sure this is the dress for this much pattern. Cute shoes.

  • Monabel

    Misplaced plaid and titscrepancy.

  • Jacqueline Wessel

The back of this dress looks really good, the front, not so much.

  • Dagney

I am not in love with the hair, however, I am in love with the sight of an actress not weighed down by 10 pounds of extensions, so, I suppose the hair is not so bad.

  • jmorino08

What is happening with her right boob? That bodice is making it look all wonky.

  • procrastinatrice

Dammit, she annoys me, but she does look good here. Love the hair and makeup. And she makes that difficult dress look effortless.

  • Imasewsure

I love it but I think darker sandals…how ugly are the shoes on the model though? GEEZ

  • Calinda_L

For Pete’s damn sake, can those shoes PLEASE be retired along with nude/pointy toe pumps? They are deployed just as effortlessly — meaning: there is NO effort in place when someone picks those. Let’s just let Jennifer Aniston keep wearing them all day every day (I’m pretty sure they’re the source of her power), but they have got to be banned from the RC.

  • Diego!

Diane, I love you, you are gorgeous, but not even you nor Charlize Theron could make this dress work. Sorry!

  • MoHub

Normally, I’m a sucker for a glen plaid. But not in this case.

  • amanda lynn

am I strange in that I like that it’s a dress that looks like pants? because it’s ok if I am. i’m ok with that.

  • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

absolutamente perfecto! absolument….anyone care to add another language for abs tot fabu?

  • Pepper Collins

I thought of a table cloth when I saw the fabric, but I still like it. The folds are fresh and add depth to the dress. The shoes are a little weird, though. This is the kind of dress that makes it difficult to find a pair of kicks that aren’t too matchy, but don’t look awful or weird.
