  • Random Compliments

    He looks sloppy, but still….RAWR.

  • Rhonda Shore

He should play Olivia Wilde’s brother in something…

    • Monzerrat Ontiveros

      same bone structure..

  • Karen Belgrad

After he finishes pumping the gas, I hope he remember to wash the windows.

  • homofascist

Between the expressions and the outfit, it is like depression in (male) dress form. It is saying something when you are happy for a pop of color that is a brown belt. That said, I’d hit it forwards, backwards and upside down.

  • Chuck Barthelme

Sloppy AND he did the thumbs up. He should have made a bit more of an effort.

  • marlie

He’s doing everything he can to look like he doesn’t want to be there.

    • Just Me

I don’t know if it is a “look” actually. He looks like he is going to walk off stage and strangle the PR person for this event. He needs to acquire some grace about the “poledance” part of his job. I mean really, if Daniel Day-Lewis can make it work, given how much he does not like it, this guy has no excuse.

  • Monzerrat Ontiveros

are we on 1996 or what????

  • jen

He really is not happy to be there!

  • ChaCha_70

Wow, he looks absolutely thrilled to be there. Still, I think he’s incredibly sexy. That face.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Psycho killer eyes and angry stance are turning me way, way off. Maybe he was going for brooding emo guy, but he overshot it.

    • Tess Danesi

I think the psycho eyes and angry stance are what’s turning me on, despite the fact that he looks a little dirty.

      • Rhonda Shore

        I’d do him. ;-P

        • Tess Danesi

Just so you know, you’re signed in as guest but when I got an email from Disqus your name is on it. Not sure if it’s your real name or not, but that’s an issue that people should be aware of.

          • Rhonda Shore

whenever i try to delete a remark, this is what happens, it lists the remark as anonymous…i guess we have to live with that as part of the disqus experience…

      • barbarienne

Mashup of Viggo Mortensen and Christopher Walken.

        • Rhonda Shore

can you imagine how hot he’d be with Paul Simonon Clash-era hair???

    • Qitkat

He has creeped me out in everything I’ve ever seen him in.

      • ankali

Me too, but to be fair, I’ve only seen him in roles that were supposed to creep me out (28 Days Later, Batman Begins, Red Eye).

The outfit here is atrocious, but his face is as gorgeous as I’ve ever seen it.

      • fuflans

cold mountain, sunshine, girl with a pearl earring.

        dude can act.

  • David Calder

I have a sneaking suspicion he doesn’t like this part of his job…

    • formerlyAnon

      Ya think?

  • seelebrennt

this screams of unwashed douchebag. yuck.

  • SugarSnap108

Well, he’s got a somewhat lifelike facial expression in one shot.

His eyes mesmerize me — they are both beautiful and OMG-creepy at once.

  • Just Me

You know it’s bad when the movie poster showing a close up of your face is sexier, better dressed and more compelling than you are standing right in front of it. Word to the wise; don’t let that happen again.

    • embers618

Yes. This. It’s like he’s resigned himself to showing up, but he’d rather have people just look at the poster.

  • Krysta

    Wow he looks pissed.

  • lubilu

    Christian Grey?

  • Zorkness

Some people think that they can wear all black and not bother with washing their hair. This proves that thesis wrong. But what good face….

  • Poeta Paz

Do you even want to be here? Go home a d stay there.

  • pattyw

I think this is the least “other-worldly” I’ve ever seen him look. He seems so suited for period pieces, I feel like there’s a little bit of a “Downton Abbey” effect going on here, seeing him in such generic dude clothes.

  • conniemd

He has really beautiful eyes. Never seen him before.

    • LesYeuxHiboux

Are you sure? The Dark Knight, 28 Days Later, Cold Mountain?

      • marlie

Yeah, he’s “that guy who’s in everything.”

ETA: I know who he is, but every time he shows up on screen in something new, I’m like “oh, HE’s in this too?!”

        • H3ff

Not to mention the Tron cameo.

  • Jessica Freeman

I’m getting a slight whiff of Eau de Douche here…

  • barbarienne

Did they do really bad makeup on him, or should he have his liver checked? I’m going to assume it’s the makeup.

    • Kristin McNamara

Came here to say just that! He looks jaundiced!

  • amanda siegelson

ha – funny. i was just drawing this dude’s face last night for my best friend’s birthday. she’s totally obsessed with him. i find him very creepy looking at times.

but i think he looks pretty hot here. nothing special for a red carpet – but damned good for anything else.

  • MartyBellerMask

Way to sell your movie, Mr. Pissy. Maybe the movie sucks and he knows it.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

Why does his face look green? Is he getting divorced? Can’t think of why else he’d look so pissed. Perhaps a bit overly casual, like he was changing the oil on his truck and slapped on a belt and open work shirt to run out to his movie screening. And yet. Those eyes, that jaw, that wiry build that inflames me so!

  • Jaeda Laurez

His clothes are bleh for a poledance. I don’t give a f**k. I’d hit it like I was in the Home Run Derby.

  • ‘Becca’lise Deveaux

He will never not look like a serial killer to me.

  • random_poster

Nothing to see here. I’ll head back to the Robert Sheehan post for a pop of Holy Crap, What is that??!

  • formerlyAnon

Dear god. He could be attractive but Utter Fail. Artfully half-tucked t-shirt?????? Baggy shapeless shirt over it? Combed it this morning and forgot about it hair that’s overdue for some shaping? And we’ll just pass over the glazed look.

    • marlie

This is the exact same thing as the Brad Pitt wardrobe for the World War Z poledance. Thing is, as talented as he is, Clilian Murphy doesn’t have the cred to “Pitt” it.

  • julnyes

Excellent actor with an otherworldly face, but gawd does he look miserable here.

  • JauntyJohn

When (if) you read about him, he is one of those INTENSELY private actors who is in it solely for the craft and not the celebrity. One can argue that someone like that is in the wrong line of work, then, but that’s a matter of opinion when it comes to some of these U.K. lads who take the Art as seriously as they do.

I can almost hear the conversation about the photo call:
    Handler/Friend: “But you have to.”
    Cillian: “I know, but I hate…”
Handler/Friend: “I know you do. Look, just wear all black and be done with it.”
    Cillian (grudgingly): “Allright then.

Regardless: That face. Arresting. Otherworldly almost.

    • Candigirl1968

The pole dance is part of the job. It would be like me saying, I want to be a secretary but I am going to pout every time someone asks me to file.

I am dubbing this “pulling an Angry Jolie.”

      • JauntyJohn

Filing is part of the job. Getting coffee for everyone is not. Some actors argue that the pole dance is the “getting coffee” of the job, i.e., the boss decided it IS part of the job now, but that’s not what you went to Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School to learn how to do.

Personally I see both sides of the issue, my observation is more that he is one of those who’s in it for the Art more than the Celebrity.

        • Just Me

I should hope he is in it more for the Art than the celebrity, otherwise it would make for a pop tart of a career. However, as much as he may obviously disdain the celebrity culture that insists on knowing the thoughts of actors on any variety of topics for which they are likely ill-qualified to speak, (and I would not disagree with him if this is the case), he can still look like he gives a damn about his own movie. One can be gracious and still guarded and private. My main objection wasn’t the clothes, although they are bad, but rather his face and attitude that says he just can’t be so bothered. Why should I want to spend my precious time and hand over my limited money to support your Art if you won’t?

          • JauntyJohn

“One can be gracious and still guarded and private.”
Well put. I must agree with you in that regard.

          • Just Me

            Thank you.

          • snarkalicious

I agree. Jesus Christ, would it kill you to put a little effort in? That’s why it’s called “ACTING.”

        • fuflans

          this

    • marlie

Another bitter kitten mentioned Daniel Day Lewis. If he can suck it up and do the poledance, so can Cillian Murphy.

    • H3ff

I get what you mean, but he is from Ireland, not the UK (pet peeve).

  • unbornfawn

Yes dear, you are very pretty. Next time put a little effort in.

  • Meg

I went to Ireland a couple of years ago and saw him in a one man show. I was front row centre and about 4 feet away from him. It was the most amazing piece of theatre I’ve ever seen. This man is criminally underrated. And yes, he’s just as gorgeous in real life. His eyes are amazing. That said, he looks pretty damn sloppy here. He’s “pulling a Jolie” and basically resting on his incredible face.

  • flowersITW

Intense guy and actor – not my bag on looks but – right, having some talent, to have been hoping for more re: Peaky Blinders to prove style over substance and his chops. Instead (having been there), he got a very poorly attended “Gala preview” where, despite major urgh-style “

  • MzzPants

In my eyes, Cillian Murphy can do what ever the hell he wants. He’s a beautiful man with incredible depth and real talent. I admire his commitment to living a ‘non Hollywood’ life.

  • Julia

I am so attracted to him it hurts…despite the goddawful clothing.

  • brooke

Hes stated before in interviews that he doesnt care for the public appearances part of acting, so i dont really think he cares about what he looks like. Hes a fantastic actor, and thats all that matters really.

  • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

Another perfect jawline. Another bucket of chocolate ice cream for dinner. It’s never Sausage Friday for me, it’s always Seething With Jealousy Hate-Eating Diabeetus Friday.

  • rkdgal

He’s purdy, but man, the makeup folks did NOT match his face to his neck. Yikes!

  • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

    Eyebrow pencil. Embrace it.

  • demidaemon

    BLAH.

  • Aidan B

I feel like he would do wrong, dirty, unspeakable things to me. And I would LOVE it.
I have nothing to say about the outfit.

  • jilly_d

Don’t care how sloppy; GOD BLESS YOU TLO FOR FEATURING THIS FINE, FINE MAN

  • MilaXX

He looks kinda orange. The again Cillian is one of those who either looks crazy handsome or psycho to me. Never anything in between.

  • http://www.dogsdotcom.blogspot.com/ Plink

    Go home and wash.

  • http://twitter.com/aynaborrell Anastasia

    Dear Diary….Mood: Apathetic.

  • Imasewsure

It’s amazing how a bad attitude can bury you…. the clothes are uninspired but fine… pretty hair pretty face

  • librarygrrl64

Everything about this (and him) says, “I would rather be anywhere else right now.”

  • Tracy Walker

    Supercilious on a bender.

  • Danielle

    THAT HAIR. Jesus wept.

  • Shawn EH

Cilian, c’mon babe, you’ve got a movie, cheer up a tad!

  • quiltrx

He’s a brilliant actor and I’m warming to his looks (he’s definitely one of those people that is more attractive in motion–his facial expressions are very subtle, part of the great acting). But Cillian dear, I KNOW you can do better than this outfit. If you hate the poledance, shock everyone by looking amazing–then they’ll wish you did this more often!

  • thatkindofagal

If you admire this man as I do you’ll know that he is one of the best actors we have living and working in UK and we should treasure him before he pisses off back to Hollywood (not that he’ll ever go native over there). A complete bloody talent (and yes, ‘Misterman’ was his finest hour – saw it twice – unbelievable). I like the fact that he’s defined by a wish to dress as a comprehensive school teacher and not a ‘star’ (although he can really rock a black or blue suit) and just focus on acting not celebrity. Love him – serious, serious, serious
