Bella Thorne in Blumarine at the “Planes” Premiere

Posted on August 08, 2013

Hey, let’s all make fun of a teenage girl, you guys!

We’re joking. WE’RE JOKING.

Let’s talk about what she got wrong with her outfit instead.

Bella Thorne attends the premiere of “Planes” in Hollywood, California in a Blumarine dress paired with Bionda Castana Consuelo pumps.

Blumarine Fall 2013 Collection/Model: Andreea Diaconu

Bionda Castana Consuelo Pumps

Okay, well… the shoes kind of clash with the dress, but other than that, she looks pretty great, in a Disney-riffic (and thus totally appropriate) kind of way.

We feel weirdly proud. We gently coached her from afar when she first started doing the red carpet thing (badly) and here she is, wearing the Blumarine like a pro. Enjoy it, honey. The time during your life when you can actually pull off such a sugary-sweet look is incredibly brief. Might as well work it while you can.

Well, at least she kind of looks her age for once?

    • alyce1213

Sweet dress, too bad she pulled the wrong color for shoes.

    • Glam Dixie

I feel like if she was giving just a little bit of attitude (like the model) this would make her look less like a five year old in her Easter dress but maybe that doesn’t suit her.

      • sagecreek

Yeah, the hair didn’t help with that, either.

    • MilaXX

I’m not 100% sold on the dress. The drape-y skirt thingy makes her look a bit hippy. Nice try with the shoes, but they not only clash, they are clearly too big. It gives the appearance that the ankle ties are the only things holding the shoes on her feet.

      • 3boysful

Me either. For me it’s a proportional thing–you can’t have a drape when the skirt is so short. There’s not enough run in those 10′ for the drape to swoosh.

She reminds me of Melissa Rauch. She looks adorable here.

    • ashtangajunkie

Cute dress – she’s tiny enough that the business around her hips making her look bigger than she is doesn’t actually make her look big whatsoever. The shoes sadden me. I don’t know that this particular shade of green should ever be suede.

I’m still trying to fathom the decision process that led to those green shoes. Agree on the dress; I will give a pass on its preciousness, but if another look is trotted out with that sugar pink lipstick, I’ll have a toothache from the saturated sweetness.

      • StellaZafella

It looks to me like the stylist was trying, unsuccessfully, to draw from the color of the leaves in the print which is, by far, the least likely to read from a distance…for a color pop in the shoe I would have chosen the darker pink (Cerise) of the blossoms or, for a more daring approach I’d’ve tried to reference the pop of bright yellow.

        • decormaven

Good call! That yellow would have been a fun choice.

    • Sarah

I think she looks fresh and pretty, but I’m not so hot on that faux-hair headband action. Hate it, in fact. I give a pass on the clashy shoes because I like green.

    • Imasewsure

If you ignore the head and the feet, this dress looks great (aka would be better on an edgier celeb although she is obviously a very cute girl)

    • teensmom99

Like Amber Heard, her thighs are the length of most people’s legs. On the average woman this length would graze her knees. And yes, TLo are spot on in their analysis.

    • steeg of their own

She needs to sit down and take lessons from whoever’s dressing Lily Collins these days.

    • Eric Stott

I don’t know about that dress – it’s right on the edge of “Honey did you tuck that in while you were in the girl’s room?”

      Dear Hollywood:

Everyone doesn’t have to be blonde.

      No love,

Is the dress on the model the same sugary pink color or does the lighting change it? It looks more orange coral, which makes it look a lot less sugary sweet than the dress here.

    • Anniebet

Loads of cute in this pic. Nice hair going on. I know BKs are usually disdainful of braids of any kind, but this one works for me – not Heidi at all.

The dress is meant to be short… too damn short, thus can’t fault her on that. The shoes, yep – lots of blame to go around there, especially for the stylist, if she has one. Too big, too green, too twee. I keep expecting to see Kermit come to claim them.

      Saccharin.

    • JauntyJohn

Well… there’s green in the dress but somehow it doesn’t read with the shoes — but I understand what I imagine the thinking behind the choice was.
She put the effort in and on the whole its a lovely look.
Sort of like what Liesl Von Trapp might wear jumping around the gazebo in a 2013 reboot of “The Sound of Music.”

    • Louise Bryan

She’s doing better with this dress than Jada did, but that’s not saying much. Weird little dress.

    • nannypoo

I like it. I even like the shoes. But is her hair really orange or is that something to do with the lighting?

    • Jacob Bowen

I actually HATE the dress on the model. I think it is perfectly adorable for her, but I think the makeup ruined it for me here. A little more of a severe lip color would have shaken up the “cutesy” factor of the dress without making it look like a murderous woman on a rampage (the model).

    • Karen Dickerson

I cannot with that hair color. Or lipstick color. Sweetie. No. And get out of here with those shoes.
At least the dress is adorable, though!

    • marlie

She looks cute in this dress, but I hate the shoes.

    • http://kathrynb.net/ Kate Borbas

I ADORE this! Really, even the shoes.

    • CommentsByKatie

Love this from head to toe. The shoes are my favorite part. I would wear the hell out of this if I were her age.

    • jangma

I don’t have a problem with the color of the shoes, just that they’re ugly. She’s a kid! She looks like a flower; whatever, it’s cute.

    • Danielle

I love the shoes, just not paired with this dress.

    • Getoverit

I thik she looks cute, age appropriate. I don’t hate the shoes, but a rose color or greener color might have been a better match.

    • Erica_Vuitton

I kept looking at this thinking it looked familiar… and lo and behold Jada P-S just wore this a week or so back. This looks SO much better on Miss Bella here even with the off shoes. Maybe that’s the reason the model is rockin nude pumps because anything else seems to fight the dress even in a complementary color.

Bella has always appeared awfully thin on her show. She looks great in this dress. It’s awfully short but she’s wearing the dress as its worn on the runway. The shoes are picking out up the little green in the dress that may match better in the light.
