  • Diego!

She looks fresh and nice and very… skinny! Girl eat something! What I don’t like at all here ar those earrings and that black ring. Please take them off!

    • Nicole Walraven

Would you say something similar about an overweight woman? She looks fat…skip a meal! Its just as demeaning to mention a smaller frame as a big one, What she does with her body is her own damn business. To really promote health, lets move the talk away from skinny/fat, and stop judging women for their size, whatever it may be.

      • Sunraya

Society promotes skinny, so much so that many, many young girls almost kill themselves in their quest to look like this girl, whoever she may be. No girls or young women are trying to look heavy. Yet, we are not allowed to talk about this, we get admonished by you, and many people give us negative reviews. I teach many of these girls who strive for this body, and frankly, I am sick of anorexic looking models and actresses being lauded for their bodies, when we read they really never eat, smoke a lot and many do coke and heroin.

So while I know it is not allowed on this site, I don’t have any problems when someone points out that someone is so skinny, she looks like she is unhealthy.

    • sekushinonyanko

I think she looks less skinny than usual, actually. At one point she was starting to resemble a lollipop. I don’t think she looks too thin.

  • Karen Belgrad

It’s…OK… giving off a very “your table is ready” vibe.

  • Nancer

I think this looks fresh and beautiful. Nicely done, and appropriate for the venue.

    • http://www.GiftedCollector.com/ The Gifted Collector

The first Marchesa I’ve ever liked, mostly because it’s so un-Marchesa. Even a more petite woman could wear this one.

  • HomeOfficeGirl

She certainly looks like a hostess – for her book launch, I guess why not.
“Thanks for coming!! Would you like punch?”

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

What? You couldn’t wear a necklace?
It’s more Spring than Summer and the hair leaves me a bit sad. But she’s not offensive, just boring.

  • BrooklynBomber

Egads, two table cloth dresses in a row.

  • RussellH88

    She looks nice.

But she really needed a necklace, methinks.

  • decormaven

Not a fan of the business at the waist, but it fits her well. Whoever set up the step and repeat site should have put down a grey carpet walkway. With the minimal graphics on the stark white background, I keep looking at the ugly tile flooring. Yes, I know that’s nitpicking, but that’s the PR team’s business- to think about the foreground, background, etc. A more pleasing overall photo gets more play- and that’s the name of the game.

  • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Sorry, everything about this is saying 1986 daytime TV bit player.

    • Darren Nesbitt

Reminds me of the print on the cups they give you in the hospital.

    • NYCGlamourpuss

Exactly. And I didn’t put up a new post because I was just scrolling through, waiting for someone else to say it so I could ride on your coattails!

    • dalgirl

Love the ‘bit player’ as opposed to ‘main character’. It doesn’t warrant star status!

      • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

Really. Can’t you see her standing way in the back of a party scene on “One Life To Live”, smiling really HARD?

        • decormaven

Or in the background at Luke and Laura’s wedding.

          • teensmom99

I had this dress, I swear!

  • Janet B

Don’t like the print at all.

    She has really tan legs.

  • Cheryl

I like it better on her than the model. Peplums aren’t for everyone, but she pulls it off. Off to google who the heck Ali Larter is.

    • kimmeister

I haven’t seen her in anything since Legally Blonde and Heroes.

      • 3boysful

She looks really different to me–is it just the blondness?

        • kimmeister

She was blonde in those roles, but the hair style was totally different. She also didn’t look nearly as polished. Her lips also look a bit fuller.

  • conniemd

I had a hard time wrapping my brain around “book launch” paired with Marchesa, as I picture book launch as being sort of polished and demure and business-like, which does not scream Marchesa. That said I like the dress, except for that diagonal sash coming out of the peplum, which seemed to serve no earthly purpose. Pretty print though.

  • SugarSnap108

Meh. As usual, the backdrop and lighting are not helping a girl out. Is she wearing hose, or is it an illusion that her legs are much more tan the rest of her? She’s pretty, but her limp hair and accessories (or lack thereof) are doing nothing for the look.

  • Mismarker

What a gorgeous gal. Her beautiful smile totally cancels out those hiddy shoes.

  • eowyn_of_rohan

The black shoes are kind of focus pulling. Swirly bodice AND peplum = no bueno.

    • Getoverit

Are the shoes black? They kinda look purple on my screen. Im loving them if they are purple. Don’t hate the dress but now I cannot unsee the hospital cup pattern. The hair is not good.

      • marlie

        I think they’re purple.

  • bertkeeter

    “VICTOR COSTA” 1988′

  • tereliz

This is Marchesa? Oh, resort. That’s why. This is quite a nice resort dress and appropriate for the season and the venue. Accessories are a little heavy, though.

  • GillianHolroyd

    Pleasant, inoffensive, unmemorable.

  • Tracy M

    Meh.

  • Sartorial_She

My hair looks exactly like hers right now and I just walked 3 blocks through a summer rain shower.

    • filmcricket

      Your icon is fantastic.

      • Sartorial_She

Awww. Thanks! I still feel like a star-struck little kid whenever I think of Lynda Carter/the WW series from my childhood. Oh how I longed to be her!

  • Darren Nesbitt

I just want Heroes to come back on the air. . . :(

    • MilaXX

Eh, it had a great premise but kinda lost its steam

      • kimmeister

Everything was great up until the season finale of season 1. It was downhill from there. Nikki was one of the more pointless heroes, IMO.

        • MilaXX

I was okay ith the show for the first 2 seasons, then it felt like they had written themselves ino. Hole

  • MilaXX

    She wrote a cook book?

    • kimmeister

I’m just hoping it’s not a la Gwyneth Paltrow.

  • filmcricket

Perfectly fine dress on a perfectly pretty lady. Her legs are 2 shades darker than the rest of her, which is weird. But my main reaction is “Ali Larter wrote a cookbook?”

    • AmeliaEve

Yikes, now I can’t unsee her legs. Spray tan?

  • mmebam

The model looks like you caught her trying to sneak out of the debutante luncheon or something.

  • Jacquelyn

I am bothered by her legs vs the rest of her skin tone but it’s a nice dress on her, especially color wise.

  • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

Are those the teeth she usually has?

I dunno kittens. When I think about celeb cook book launches, I think of GOOP. What would GOOP wear? Not this. This outfit makes me assume that there will be a lot of things on toothpicks and probably a lot of kiwifruit and fruit coulis.

  • kimmeister

I can’t tell, is she wearing a big black ring on her right hand, or is that ring actually part of the clutch?

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

Ring I think – seems to match the earrings. Both of which seem misguided with the dress.

  • hughman

She loves her job at Sugarbaker Designs.

  • NBG

Is this peplum-for-everybody thing over yet?

  • Ron Labhart

Well, she looks pretty great, but the dress is a bit tired. Does anyone know what fabric that might be? In those closeups, it looks like the fabric used in the upholstery of outdoor furniture.

    • alyce1213

Looks like some kind of piqué, maybe cotton or silk, I dunno. It sure does look like patio furniture fabric, especially because of the print.

  • Jessica O’Connell

Is this a new mini-trend in Hollywood? Actresses releasing cookbooks?

  • kirkyo

This is all working for me (don’t know who she is tho). Right dress on the right woman. I also like the shoe choice.

  • marlie

I think she looks great! I really like the dress. And I sort of like the heavier, edgier jewelry that she’s wearing, to make it a little teensy bit less “garden party”-ish.

  • ankali

Generic 80s look. Nice enough, though, I suppose. And kudos to her for writing a book!

  • omg_dora

That’s not a good dress, but her face looks ridiculously pretty.

  • Blair Sylvester

Grading on the Marchessa curve this is pretty great (see Sarah Hyland) outdated florals beats pooping tulle, invading lace, and yards or (non)illusion netting in my book

  • Jacqueline Wessel

I covet her eyebrows. And the dress is nice, could have done without the peplum.

  • NoveltyRocker

The peplum just plunks everything down into 80′s prom even though the color palette feels fresh, even with the neon green strangely enough. Needs a shoe with a more updated silhouette. The pumps don’t help the dated feel but the deflated hair does. Flattering makeup definitely not 80′s.

  • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

I saw someone wear this at a wedding once…in the 80′s!!! Ug-lee! And her hair is so flat it looks like she got caught in the rain. And that purse! ugh…next…

  • Imasewsure

Sexy office party dress… pretty but dull

  • Sarah Caponigro

    Love it.

  • LesYeuxHiboux

It’s actually kind of perfect for her cookbook launch: slightly modern, housewifey yet businesslike, reminiscent of a napkin. The pattern is lovely with her coloring and I like how the swoop in her hair goes the opposite direction from the folds in her dress. That’s balance.

  • quiltrx

What has she done to herself? I didn’t even recognize her, and had to look her up just to make sure I wasn’t thinking about the wrong person! She looks nothing like she did as Claire in RE:AL, and that was just 3 years ago. I’ve always thought she was so striking–now with this hair, and something different around the eyes and mouth, she just looks like everyone else.

  • JP

I think she looks better than the model in this dress.

  • LauraAgain

She looks perfect … nicely done makeup and hair, the dress is very pretty and cool for summer. A win.

  • Jessica Peterson

She would look incredibly pretty if she had a small gap in her two front teeth! I’ve never noticed before, but it seems that her already pretty face would be taken to a different level with gapped teeth. Is that a strange thing to say about a person?
