Adam Lambert at the “Lovelace” Premiere

Posted on August 07, 2013

As we say so often with Adam… “Well, it’s a look.”

Adam Lambert attends the premiere of “Lovelace” held at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, California.

Honestly, if he hemmed the pants, we’d have no issue whatsoever with what he’s wearing. It looks good. We think it’s odd to button your shirt up to your neck and then leave your jacket unbuttoned, but that’s just us. What really doesn’t work here is everything going on north of his neck. That hair, combined with that facial hair, just makes him look like a campy comic book supervillain.

We bet if he cut his hair short and grew a full beard, he’d look pretty stunning, but it’s so far outside his normal look that we doubt he’d ever do it.

I really do love the shirt. And if the axiom, “the higher the hair, the closer to God” is true, then Adam and the Creator must be besties.

      • Meg0GayGuys6

My hair lacks volume… Adam, tell Her to keep an eye on Meg over hurr!!

      • decormaven

Another thumbs-up for the shirt. Do we know the tailor?

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

          Wish I did!

        • Lucky

          Alexander McQueen

          • decormaven

Thanks! That shirt needed a shout-out.

    • Monzerrat Ontiveros

I wonder what it would be his super villian name??

      • Karen Belgrad

        Octave?

      • TonyGo

Ferocia Coutura. No, wait, that name’s already taken.

      • RebeccaKW

        Codpiece

      • Jacqueline Wessel

        Snidely Whiplash, Jr.

        • drdarke

Too appropriate given it’s him, @Jacqueline Wessel.

          • drdarke

Why do my comments keep getting deleted?

I don’t think I’m saying anything bigoted or otherwise incorrect….

      • drdarke

I figured he was auditioning for The Master on the next series of DOCTOR WHO, myself.

So – Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor. Love? Hate? Why?

        • formerlyAnon

I’m kindly disposed as it’s the first time in a while that the actor playing the Doctor is (even if just barely) older than I am. Going to heave a heavy sigh if we get a Doctor romance with a companion who’s visually 25 years younger, though. I mean, even though he’s 900-and-some and thus worrying about the visuals is silly. (Yes. Not a True Fan, I can’t pin his age down any closer than that.)

          • drdarke

::nods:: Yes, I feel it’s time for an older Doctor myself, @formerlyAnon:disqus – and Capaldi has an interesting resume…including playing Malcolm Tucker on THE THICK OF IT!

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

“We bet if he cut his hair short and grew a full beard, he’d look pretty stunning” I bet he would look like Ming the Merciless. As far as this goes? Very low key and underdone for Adam. Guess it’s that Actor thing he’s doing now.

    • RebeccaKW

Comic book villain? Yes. Those arched eyebrows! Especially that last shot. “No, Mr. Bond, I expect you die.”

      • Meg0GayGuys6

Substitute “Rocky and Bullwinkle” for “Mr. Bond”, and you’d have what I was thinking :)

        • RebeccaKW

I think we could probably replace him in any role and he’d fit.

      • ThaliaMenninger

And I’m thinking, “No, Flash Gordon…” This is very Ming the Merciless to me.

        • RebeccaKW

I think he’d work in just about any villain role.

    • Emily Smith

He looks like he lives at the capital in panem.

    • alyce1213

I’m guessing he left the jacket open to show the gorgeous shirt. He’s quite a good-looking man — those eyes.

    • Danielle

Hmm, I never noticed it before, but with the facial hair (and if you cover up whatever is going on on top of his head), he looks like Jonathan Frakes/Will Riker.

      • Clueless_Jock

Or… the love child of George Michael and Elvis.

        • Denise Alden

          Read you too late! Exactly.

      • Denise Alden

Yes! By way of George Michael.

    • nannypoo

So handsome. Such bad facial hair.

    • julnyes

Does he have to dye his facial hair darker?

      • Karen Belgrad

His natural hair color is ginger/blonde, so I don’t know how well that’d look with the darker hair

      • alyce1213

I never gave that a thought, but of course he does. That must be a job! I’d love to see him with his natural hair color, to go with the freckles on his hands.

    • Glam Dixie

I love the outfit and his hair is such a trademark for him, I can’t see him with it short. The whiskers need to go, but then, I think that about 99% of the whiskers that I see. Adam with a full beard, for the love of all that is holy, NO.

    • Eric Stott

The mustache works for him, he should go with it.

    • bxbourgie

I usually love me some Adam Lambert but here he just looks… ROUGH from the neck up. That beard. The bouffant. He’s got THE best brows ever though.

      • Glam Dixie

        The eyebrows are indeed amazing.

    • formerlyAnon

He trends to genres of “look” and dress that (IMO) don’t make the most of his natural looks/assets. But that’s my opinion, he & his fan base might disagree, and I do admire that he commits.

    • chica63

Awww.. I love the hair and whiskers. Meow! He always looks stunning IMO.

    • Patrick Cleary

I think he’s trying to be edgy and yet still appeal to the young’uns, so he’s not going to go full beard for quite some time yet.

    • Anne At Large

We think it’s odd to button your shirt up to your neck and then leave your jacket unbuttoned, but that’s just us.

Nope, it’s not. I was staring at this trying to figure out what was so off to me and that was it.

      • ThaliaMenninger

The way the shirt is buttoned and the fit of the jacket make his torso look Frankenstein-monstery to my eye. It kind of exaggerates the shoulder and makes the chest look puffy.

    • Duck Bitey

One addition to your last comment: “That hair, combined with that facial hair, just makes him look like a campy comic book supervillain magician.”

    • purpleprose78

I’ve always thought he looked like Elvis. He should shave the beard, grow some sideburns, and start rocking the bejeweled jumpsuit. (But I suppose that would be a fashion faux pas…)

      • imspinningaround

THANK YOU! I think the same thing. Young, sexy, gay Elvis.

        • Denise Alden

I want me some of that young, sexy, gay Elvis!

    • MartyBellerMask

I like the facial hair, but it doesn’t seem to match the look.
I do appreciate that he’s trying to change out his overall “look”. I hope he settles into something a bit more congruous than this.

    • MilaXX

The outfit is pretty sedate for him, but I’m not loving the facial hair.

    • Sushy Gooroo

As a beard wearer I must say I applaud the way he applied his make up because it is not easy to smear the stuff around your facial hair, believe you me.

    • Shawn EH

The shirt/jacket thing is very late 1980s. Needs a brooch somewhere.

    • http://www.snoskred.org/ Snoskred

I love him. I love his music.

This looks like his Madame Tussauds waxwork came to life and went to his house, broke in, tied him to the bed with silk scarves, and stole his invitation to this event.

Massive props to Adam for being able to be real and yet look too good to be real, it is pretty incredible. :)

    • marlie

I really like the suit on him. He’s one of the few people who could have pulled off that shirt. His hair doesn’t bother me because it’s his “thing,” but I hate the facial hair.

    • bertkeeter

He has trimmed down …looks good. Agree on the buttoned up shirt…needs some air! He was the most interactive judge on PR Season 9.

    • Jaeda Laurez

“hilarious” is the first thing that comes to mind with his eyebrows. The outfit is pretty nondescript, as these Glambert things go.

    • TheLaurenJean

Gosh, he looks like a crappy magician.

      Who dabbles in super-villanry.

      • la Demain

erm … uh, that’s what he’s trying for.

    • Jason

Nasty bitchy people on this blog. Adam looks great.

      • H2olovngrl

        NAILED IT!

    • rkdgal

I just wish he’d let his natural ginger coloring out to play; just look at those freckles on his hands, saying “Adam, why are you trying to hide us?” The dyed black everything just fights his innate redheadedness, IMO.

    • Danielle

HE LOOKS LIKE TONY STARK’S GAY YOUNGER BROTHER.

      • formerlyAnon

I’d buy a ticket to that movie!

    • HomeOfficeGirl

It looks like someone took a Sharpie and drew the eye brows, mustache, patch and beard over a photo of Adam Lambert.

    • Trisha26

Those pants – yikes! BTW he did have the jacket buttoned but in a RC vid you can hear the photographers asking him to unbutton so they could see the shirt. He’s too obliging. Never, never, never want to see him with short hair. Absolutely hate the facial hair – aging & ridiculous – without it he’s handsome & 10 years younger.

    • homespunner

Time for “high hair-off” with Chris Colfer.

      • formerlyAnon

        Advantage: Lambert.

      • H2olovngrl

        Guffaw!

    • JauntyJohn

I think, re the buttoned shirt vs. unbuttoned jacket, he’s working the shirt pattern, which I like a lot. Different with real impact. As far as the grooming goes, the chin beard is very au currant for a young man his age, as is the ‘stache, which I think he wears well.
The eyebrows are a little over the top up close, but bring out his eyes from a distance, so I’ll call it “stage grooming.”
High hair? Rock it! He’s a gay pop star, a little drama to the hair is part of the job description!

    • conniemd

If he went with his normal light hair, he’d look like Leonardo DiCaprio. Those eyes!

    • quiltrx

His hair and the shirt are magical. (he REALLY needed to do the ‘brooch at the neck’ from the late 80s/early 90s to set this off–and he could get away with it.) The hem is too sad for words, and I really hate the facial hair. He looks much better clean-shaven….though I would kind of like to see what he’d look like with an actual goatee, with the ends trimmed much closer to the mouth.

      • H2olovngrl

Has he not gone the way of the brooch before? For some reason, I thought he had. Or maybe, I can just see it in my head because all his looks cry out for a brooch or a bolo tie.

    • Tatiana Luján

      He looks like a pimp.

    • Jo222

Lol at all you envious queens. Especially you T & L. I wish I could look like that in a suit. And to own a Dolce & Gabbana suit like that. And his hair! Best hair AND eyebrows on a man ever, your argument is invalid.
None of you could ever look anything like as good as he does right? Right

      • formerlyAnon

        Hahahahaha.

        • H2olovngrl

          Angry typing. Lol.

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

Sweetie, you need to look up the definitions of “jealousy” and “projecting.”

    • pattie capet

it’s a shame, with that handsome face, but “campy supervillian” seems to be his go-to look. why? why?

    • cocohall

It is a cruel cosmic jest that someone who aspires to be as edgy as Mr. Lambert was born a ginger with a sweet round face, most suitable for a Disney sitcom. He is working overtime to create definition of his features with the brows, facial hair, and dye job. God bless him! The maintenance!

    • Zorkness

He is not my favorite, but compared to the way he usually dresses, he looks good. Nicely trimmed beard. Actors take note, trimming beards and necks makes you look much better.

    • Richard

I was never really attracted to Adam Lambert, but that hair/beard combo is giving me a case of the vapuhs *fans self*

And I’m drooling and crying over that shirt. Need.

    • anotherkate

He looks like Criss Angel’s pervy uncle. That beard! That heavy foundation! That greasy hair! Ugh.

    • kim bunchalastnames

OMG YOU’RE RIGHT. he’d make an AWESOME supervillian!

    • unbornfawn

My first thought when I saw him, was, Is he getting ready to play a villian!

    • lobsterlen

I thought he looked like the ultimate supervillain … Satan

    • YourBaloneyDontGotNoSecondName

That face looks like the one David Gest has been trying to acquire for decades.

      • formerlyAnon

Heh. Gonna cut yourself with that tongue if you’re not careful.

(Said in thanks for the hearty snicker.)

    • http://www.fatladysings.us/ TFLS

Maybe ‘Supervillon’ is exactly what he’s going for. Evidently, Adam’s going to be playing Chris Colfer’s nemesis on ‘Glee’ next season. Ought to be fun!

    • largishbearishAtlish

      Yuck.ickipoo.

    • AnnPopovic

I think it’s fun. I love that he’s fearless and LOUD. He’s ADAM, Dammit, and the show’s about to begin the minute he walks in a room. Or…onto a carpet. He’s a breath of fresh air.

    • MzzPants

The facial hair is still not his friend. The rest is ‘meh’. He’s more fabulous than this outfit.

    • somebody blonde

Oi. That’s the kind of facial hair that looks hot on precisely no one. I agree, he should full-beard or shave- none of this half-assedness. Otherwise, I kind of love it.

    • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

For some reason I no longer like facial hair on men, especially when there is so much face to see. I must be getting old, old ,old. My mother used to tell me she’d cut my bangs in my sleep if I did not keep them shorter. She wanted to see my whole face.

I probably don’t like facial hair on men because it does not feel good to ME in various places.

I’d prefer that Adam keep the hair on his head and get rid of the facial hair. He is so pretty.

    • CommentsByKatie

I see Burt Wonderstone, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing?

    • demidaemon

That facial hair is a bit on the skeevy side, I think.

    • mhleta

I really appreciate the uniqueness of his style. He always pulls off something pretty interesting that very few others could. He always looks like some sort of character you want to put in a film, be it “Columbian Strip Club Bouncer” or “Comic Book Supervillain.” I could quibble about the length of the pants. Because they’re skinny I feel like he can get away with the extra length. I support this look.

    • Telperion

His hand creeps me out. Having said that, I love that shirt and I get wanting to show it off but yes, button that jacket.

    • Badriya Al-Badi’a

He looks like Fabulous Alternate Gay Universe Commander Riker.

      • Montavilla

I want to go to there.

    • kimmeister

He looks like the “V for Vendetta” mask!

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

At least he makes an effort. But now I really want him to trade out that super-villain facial hair for a full on bear-beard.

    • http://cheekypinky.wordpress.com cheekypinky

      Is your name Errol Flynn?

      No?

Then shave that shit off, son.

    • jangma

I wish he wasn’t so afraid of his own freckles. The pancake makeup is fine on stage, but it always looks off in close ups.

    • Tina Power

He kinda looks like a boy bander that’s realized they can grow facial hair so they’re trying to look super cool and mature so hopefully they won’t get carded again at the after-party even though they’re in the band.

    • H2olovngrl

He’s a good looking guy hidden under a bunch of douche.
