Aaron Paul for Nylon Guys Magazine

Posted on August 30, 2013

Aaron Paul wears some highly dubious getups for Nylon Guys and doesn’t come out looking like a clown, which  must make him some kind of supermodel or something.

Lawn-green velvet jacket + Hawaiian shirt, bitches:

“Breaking Bad” star Aaron Paul covers the September 2013 issue of Nylon Guys magazine photographed by Kenneth Cappello.

You don’t just walk away from that.

“Wouldn’t it be great to have, like, an ‘Evolution of Jesse’ fashion section [in a museum]? When the show started, I could easily fit both my legs into one of Jesse’s pant legs. Now, he’s still in his ridiculous bedazzled shirt, but at least the clothes have kind of shrunk a bit.”
“Even if [the finale's] perfect, people just don’t’ want it to end. I don’t want it to end! The entire last day I was walking around on set saying, ‘This is terrible, this is just awful, why is this happening?’ It became kind of a comedy because I was so tragic.”

Definitely a supermodel. Now he knows what to do with himself post-Breaking Bad. He needs to practice his Blue Steel at least 8 hours a day, to get himself in fighting trim, though.

Y’know, we shouldn’t be so bitchy. At least it’s not boring clothes. Mind you, they’re not good clothes either, but at least he’s not brooding in a mid-Century diner in a t-shirt or something tired like that.

No no no no no. (To the clothes. Paul I am indifferent about.)

    • tereliz

LOVE him and I even think he’s rocking the styling. The photos are SHIT. The cover is good, actually, but the other two are blown out to the point of obscuring his adorable features (come on, now!) and WTF with the jaunty camera angle of pic 3?

  • CeeQ

I feel like it’s a modern take on the clothes of that British show “The Young Ones”. Just has that attitude to it. Or maybe it’s Aaron Paul’s attitude =D Either way, I’m loving it =D

    • Getoverit

      I MISS The Young Ones!!!

      • CeeQ

        ME TOO.

        “NEIL! Your bed’s on fire.”

  • mmebam

I think he looks great. I’m really digging the dynamic posing.

  • StellaZafella

    Shot 1) Hawaii 5 uh-oh
Shot 2) Duuuude wanna see my nipple tat?
Shot 3) Stair Bowling and the 7-10 split.

    • Kristin McNamara

The cover reminds me of something that Rob Arquette’s character would’ve worn in Never Been Kissed.

  • Monzerrat Ontiveros

Hate TerryRichardson’s photos, hate more when is another photographer with the same “style”.

  • Jacquelyn

Well. They’re look, I’ll give them that.

  • filmcricket

I think this is the male version of “editorial styling.” It works in a photo shoot, but if you saw a guy dressed like this on the street you’d immediately think “douchebag.”

    • demidaemon

I’d probably think “blind” and/or “wedding singer.”

  • Imasewsure

These are fun – thanks because SF was shaping up to be a big nothing for me. At least I got a big smile out of these…

    • Imasewsure

I should say, the second half of SF was not waking me up… our morning circle time was great

  • Emily Giovanni

Love him so much! I’d go right out and buy the magazine, but it says right there on the cover “Not for girls.” Too bad.

    • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

I see the “Not for Girl’s” tag as a challenge. Go for it!

  • flamingoNW

Aaron Paul can do no wrong, bitches. He looks awesome in all of them. The distinct lack of douche is apparent in every shot, not easy for most up and coming actors.

  • formerlyAnon

I like the cover look most, those look to be great trousers. I’d even go for the grass green blazer if they lost the shirt. The look I like the least, by far, is the third. It’s stupid and I don’t care how the pendulum swings, will look dated to me.

  • RussellH88

As Jessie would say “Those pics look like shit, yo.”

    • mshesterp

“…why in the hell did they put me in a lime green velvet jacket, bitch?”

…man, I’m going to miss Jessie. Aaron Paul is so fantastic.

  • Randy Noak

I thought I was pasty. But I do kind of want those boots in the last shot.

For some reason the first look says Steve Buscemi to me!

  • sojourneryouth

I can’t be unbiased. He is an awesome actor, and seems like a really nice guy. I love how he talks about his wife and her charity–he clearly adores and admires her. The clothes here are ridic, but I think he’s working them as best he can, and pretty much pulling it off. He’s so quirky and attractive in a sort of offbeat way that I think the weird choices kind of fit.

  • kirkyo

    Love him. Love the cover.

I get the feeling he always puts in 100% to whatever he’s involved in.

  • Denise Alden

Fabulous. And I’ve never seen “Breaking Bad.”

    • MilaXX

      You really should correct that.

    • jjtxgrrl

      Go. Now. Netflix. ;)

      • jjtxgrrl

Actually, block out your Labor Day weekend. Marathon!!

    • mshesterp

Once you start you won’t stop. I am binge watching it after starting a few weeks ago and struggling to hold it down to an hour or two per day…I have things to do, yo!

  • marlie

It’s interesting, and he’s making it work (sort of). That’s all I’ve got.

  • MilaXX

His character has spoken barely 20 words these past few episodes. He can wear all the clowns clothes he wants putting in a performance like that.

  • Sheneve Butler

I never noticed that he has a large forehead until now.

    • charlotte

That’s why the cover shot made me think of Community’s Joel McHale.

  • Lilithcat

I don’t know. I think his shirt and the sprinkles on his ice cream cone are too matchy-matchy.

  • jmorino08

He looks like the cheesiest of all early 90s MTV VJs in that last get up, but in a good way!

  • Flooolia

Well… these kind of look like they were shot for the asos magazine… and that’s not a good thing. He is adorable, though.

  • Ana the Hated

I kinda dig that stupid American flag sweater.

  • guest2visits

The cover is great, the second one is fun, too. The last one not so much, can’t really tell who it is.
Is it wrong that I secretly liked a lot of his clothes – especially some of his loud, long- sleeved shirts for Breaking Bad…he would layer some of the most bawdy, jazzed prints as Jesse Pinkman.

    • http://www.snoskred.org/ Snoskred

Hellz no! Jesse Pinkman is an awesome fashion icon. ;) Some of those tee-shirts and hoodies, I would dissolve bodies in acid for. And his style in s4 when he became all about black clothes that fit.. damn he looked amazing in those outfits.

      • guest2visits

Acid bodies. My hubs talked about that for days.

      • Jennifer Jacobsen-Wood

Actually, I think it was a base. I had a chem teacher give me that piece of advice once, if you want to dispose of a body, a base is the way to go.

  • jjtxgrrl

    Love the cover, bitches!

  • Sarah Thomas

He’s my pick for Steve Trevor if they ever do a Wonder Woman movie.

  • Cate

I’m having some bad late-90s flashbacks with the first photo. Spiky hair, velvet and Hawaiian shirts, make it stop! Love Aaron Paul, though. And God help me, I kind of like the outfit in the second photo.

  • xmixiex

    Oh my god he’s delicious.

  • jtabz

The clothes are silly, the sound bites are fabulous, and he is adorable.

  • quiltrx

I like the third pose, but I had to check that the 2nd and 3rd weren’t Terry Richardson sneaking in to piss me off.

  • http://vhanna26.typepad.com Vera

This is how it’s done, Eddie Redmayne.

  • ankali

He is so fucking adorable. I love him in the velvet jacket/Hawaiian shirt/ice cream cone combo.

Wish I could get into Breaking Bad, though. I’ve watched a season and a half, and though I like it just fine (and think the acting is great), I’m not seeing the Second Coming of Christ Plus The Sopranos that everyone else is. I HATE being left out of the zeitgeist!

  • twigg

When terrible clothes happen to wonderful people.

  • Bill Craven

Take the jackets and the cardigan back to the thrift store which provided their inspiration, and he looks great. That cardigan; truly hideous.

  • giddypony

    Love the

    last pose.

  • Jeff Warhurst

    Love love love. Love.

  • kathrineb

BB in my view is the best show of all time and he is outstanding in it!

  • cowper

    Waffle cone with sprinkles!

  • seelebrennt

the clothes are TERRIBLE. he looks great though. i LOVE him. i’m going to cry when breaking bad is over :(
