Vanessa Hudgens in Lovers + Friends in London

Posted on July 18, 2013

Okay, she seems to be slipping a little into old habits rather quickly. After the shock and awe of unveiling two rather uncharacteristically chic outfits in a row, we suppose we were setting our hopes too high for a trifecta. But really, this isn’t so bad:

Vanessa Hudgens spotted arriving at Yves Saint Laurent at Old Bond Street London in a Lover +Friends dress paired with a Givenchy bag and Joe’s Jeans pumps.

Lovers + Friends Sunshine Dress. Givenchy Corset Chain Nightingale Bag. Joe’s Jeans Ollie Canvas Pumps.

It’s just that she’s clearly eager to get back into her California hippie style after wearing tailored pieces two days in a row. The dress couldn’t be more boring, but we give her a lot of credit for trying the half-turban. Unfortunately, you are no Eva Mendes, Vanessa, and thus you’re not quite capable of pulling this off.

Really, the look isn’t bad. A little boring and kind of unimaginative, but still a lot better than what she normally wears.

THAT THING ON HER HEAD! It’s like her weave got in a grudge match with an innertube.

      • plinkiedoodle

That thing on her head looks plain ridiculous.

      • StellaZafella

Sorry to tell you dear but…your scrunchie is pregnant.

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I’m going to choose to believe the down vote given here was an accident on someone’s part. Because this comment is hilarious, and completely non offensive.

        • girliecue

Dahling, you slay – simply SLAY me! (Writing in a British accent since she’s in London)

      • Lady Orwellian

Is it pleather? It hurts my feelings.

        • Lucía Gavello

It looks like a garbage bag.

    • Nikko Viquiera

      i think it’s cute!

      • Rhonda Shore

She looks breezy and cute…i like the black accents, but not the turban, it’s a bit heavy looking for the lightness of the outfit…i think a white beaded hair accessory against her dark hair would have worked better…maybe something like what Lana del Rey wore in Russia earlier this week. Had a hippie vibe but chic.

    • Sobaika

I like the idea of her in a mini-turban, just not what it’s made out of. Too heavy.

    • SophiaPehawkins

I don’t know. I think she’s pulling off the turban and the rest of the outfit’s pretty great. Its working for me.

      • KC

I agree. I like that its really laid back. Why wouldn’t she be laid back when she’s running around doing things? This looks like something your average cute 20something would wear on a day out.

    • Lori

I used to own this. It was a very comfortable summer nightgown. Obviously I never wore it outside the house.

      • StellaZafella

My Grandmother used to tat the edges of our pillowcases like this…I spent my childhood with daisies imprinted on my forehead.

        • alyce1213

That’s so sweet. All I had was chenille imprint.

    • Karen Belgrad

Half-turban … In the immortal words of Celeste Talbert (aka Sally Field)… Does that make her half-”Gloria f**king Swanson”????

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        love this.

      • Rand Ortega

        LOL! “Soapdish” is so underrated.

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I vividly remember laughing my ass off at the big reveal. The entire theater did, so much so that we missed the next few lines.

          • Rand Ortega

Same here! Had to turn it on Netflix as we speak.

            • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

“Actors don’t like to play coma. They feel it limits their range.”

      • Andsheewas

Yes! I was hoping that someone else had made the Soapdish ref before I got here!

    • Louise Bryan

Sunshine dress. For members of a sunshine club? “Dresses” like this used to be called nighties.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

      Quick and breezy summer dress:
Just get two pillowcases, open the side seams up, gather to your preference at the the top, add slim straps and, Voila!!!

      • rh33

You don’t even need to gather and make straps. Just turn over the ends of the each pillowcase at the neck end, insert rope, and tie! Just like stuff sack with arm holes!

        • Aurumgirl

I know a woman who wore nothing but pillowcases as dresses, all the way through the fashion design program at school. It’s not a new thing.

      • marlie

There are actually Pinterest patterns for just this!

    • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

Deploying a turban like that makes my teeth itch. But I suppose if she wore it traditionally, it would look even more like she was washing her face before bed.

      This girl. Oy.

      • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

        Exactly this. Exactly.

        • http://twitter.com/#!/Space_Kitty Space Kitty

          - which kills me because LOVE A TURBAN. Quit ruining things, Vanessa.

    • Laurie Landry

The dress is easy breezy Hot Child in the City but that thing on her head is ridiculous.

    • Rand Ortega

Vanessa. Vanessa! Wake up! Take off your night gown & sleeping cap & get dressed. You’ve got an appearance in an hour.
      No! Really?

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

The jewelry clearly says, “I’m not out and about in my nightgown” but I can’t even tell you what the fuck that thing on her head is trying to say.

      • alyce1213

        I love the jewelry.

    • marlie

The dress is fine, though I wouldn’t have paired those shoes with it. And the turban need to be set on fire.

    • d4divine

The bag, the turban, and the shoes are too heavy for that dress/nightie…it’s a shame, with the right styling the dress/nightie would have been cute. The look is very walk of shame/didn’t go home after the club borrowed after party hostess dress

      • Little_Olive

        My sentiments EXACTLY.

    • http://heartprintandstyle.com/ Vivi N

I think she looks cute. I’m diggin’ the look. The half-turban looks sorta sloppy and thick.; should have been done with a lighter fabric. And she needs to let that bag go only because the bag has not complemented any of the three looks featured so far.

    • kim bunchalastnames

i think she looks kind of adorable.

    • anotherkate

She loves that ugly bag, huh?

      • decormaven

Truly. I think that’s why she’s wearing that silly pleather half turban and black shoes. “See, it all goes together! Black accessories!” No, they don’t, hon. The bag manufacturer will send the PR check soon enough; we don’t need to see that bag again.

    • demidaemon

Um, Vanessa? You forgot all of your clothes and went out in your nightie. But, hey, at least you remembered to put on shoes?

    • neonseattle

she can’t let go of that givenchy bag

    • mjude

do not get the turban head piece at all especially in a HEAT WAVE

    • MilaXX

Not bad, lose the turban and it’s okay for a summer look. In fact, turban aside this is a better version of her hobo/bohemian look.

    • Danielle L

After having to sit through Spring Breakers, I can’t look at her in virginal white anymore.

    • Danielle L

Also, I would probably commit a serious crime for that Givenchy bag.

      • Anplica Fiore

Seems to be her go-to bag this week…I’m not the biggest fan, but it’s ok.

    • kimmeister

None of the pieces are bad, they just have nothing to do with each other. And she’s not enough of a diva to pull off a turban in any form.

    • Just Me

I see her stylist decided not to fight for her today…tsk, tsk.

    • http://marshmallowjane.com/ marshmallowjane

The dress looks too much like a nightgown. It’s a perfect dress for a hot day/evening when you’re having a guest of one to spend time with.

    • rajf

I’m just glad she’s not wearing booties.

    • MoHub

Oh, look! She was running late and ran out of the house in her nightie! All she had time to do was grab a purse and slip into a pair of shoes.

    • Glam Dixie

She really likes that ugly ass Givenchy bag, doesn’t she?

    • Pudgy Possum

Why does she look 35 years older than she is?

    • Imasewsure

Can’t with the turbanette on her head but I do love the dress… would actually have gone with some sort of bedazzled flip flops but oh well..

    • Trisha26

She’s wearing a slip and turban hairband with stilettos. And the same heavy purse from the other outfits. This is cray.

    • nannypoo

      The long lost Olsen triplet.

      • VicD

Did you forget Elizabeth? I think this makes Vanessa the quadruplet.

    • ItsDicey

      Cute nightgown.

    • notterriblybitter

That purse needs to go away forever.

    • http://thishotoldbroad.blogspot.com/ Sara Leigh Merrey

      Nightgown. Headgear. All wrong.

    • Diego!

What’s really annoying is that thing in her head, everything else is very good! :)

    • http://www.lippsisters.com/ Deborah Lipp

Same bag three looks in a row. Either she’s a real human who loves her one bag, like the other real humans, or she hasn’t had it photographed enough to pay for it yet.

    • guest2visits

Pretty, but did she think she was headed for the beach? The turban is ridiculous with this.

    • Stacy Feng

if the half-turban and shoes were not black or such a heavy fabric, this could be fun and spring-time. But of course she gets the details wrong.
