Vanessa Hudgens in Jenny Packham at the “The Frozen Ground” Premiere

Posted on July 19, 2013

We questioned whether we wanted to feature her for the fourth day in a row, but this period of semi-chic needs to be documented, because we fear at any moment, it could all come crashing down. No one gets over their style mistakes overnight. She’s just dying to put on some ugly pants and a headband or something. But until the withdrawal pains overwhelm her and she goes back to the Bad Stuff, she deserves an extended stay in the spotlight while she’s looking good.

Vanessa Hudgens attends the premiere of “The Frozen Ground” in London in a Jenny Packham jumpsuit paired with Giuseppe Zanotti sandals.

She’s wearing glittery pajamas and she looks neither like a jackass nor like a septuagenarian. That’s something of an accomplishment. We don’t love it like crazy or anything, but she looks comfortable and chic. She’s got a well-chosen bag and great pair of shoes (even if the latter might be a bit much for the look). She was smart enough to realize that underboob AND panty in the same outfit is tacky. That’s growth, darlings. We keep wanting to put a belt on it, but we suspect that wouldn’t make it look very modern.

Also: the hair and makeup look pretty good too.

She looks great – and so grown-up beautiful…aaaand then the duck lips.

You can change a girl’s gays, but you can’t change her soul. Or something like that.

    • Lady Orwellian

I see my 18 year old niece doing that in pictures all the time. Her and all her friends. She has for quite some time come to think of it and I’m not quite sure why.

    • Carol

      My thoughts exactly.

  • marlie

This isn’t bad. I think the color is too washed out for her, but as far as glittery jumpsuits go, this one isn’t too bad.

In other news, two nicely (for the most part) deployed jumpsuits in two days? The end really is near.

    • teensmom99

With her coloring, the beigy colors work just fine, I think (as long as the rest is okay).

  • Diego!

I can’t believe it’s her!!! She looks mature and amazing! This is a WERQ considering who is coming from! Go Vanessa! I love everything here!

    • largishbearishAtlish

Interesting way of looking at it- my first thought was…’gad, she aged 10-15 years….’ the kids have to grow up some

time don’t they? I think the hair/make up just looks…old…on her.

  • veleri

please, let’s send Vanessa this pictures of her as a future reminder.

  • nyazgirl

Go with me on this…put up the hair, ditch the sleeves….CHIC! Otherwise, it just kinda falls so far short of the runway look that was ethereal and stunning.

    • Lady Orwellian

I agree. I keep thinking she should pull her hair up.

    • IMNAngryLiberal

I was thinking how much better Vanessa looks than the runway version — there’s no way a visible thong under a transparent jumpsuit is ever going to look anything but tacky to me. (Although I agree that an up-do might have been nice.)

      • nyazgirl

I agree about the chonies. Ain’t nobody got time for that. But the removing the sleeves and jacking the hair would give it a much lighter feel overall.

    • sekushinonyanko

The runway look was glorified body glitter. If I can see your thong and your nipples then you’re not actually wearing clothes.

      • nyazgirl

We can agree to disagree on that one. Runway looks are about the feel and the artistry. I thought it was breathtaking. But, I would’ve had her wear a nude thong at least.

        • demidaemon

True, but pigs know that no one is actually going to wear it that was in real life (except for maybe KStew, Rihanna, and Miley Cyrus), so why bother showing it without a lining at all? as we can see from Vanessa’s example, it is just as beautiful with a lining (if not more so since you aren’t thinking “TITS! AND PANTIES!” constantly) as it was without.

  • NOLA_gal

3 cheers to Vanessa for lining her pajamas! May the other starlets see this and realize the error of their ways!

    • Mismarker

Coming here specifically to congratulate whomever decided to line this garment. I don’t need to see Ms. Hudgens’ hoohah.

      • largishbearishAtlish

and my lunch thanks whoever made that call too…I did NOT want to taste my lunch twice…whew

    • Amanda Herriott Welliver

      Yes, T.G.I.L.

  • Anathema_Device

She managed to pick the only ugly Packham piece I’ve ever seen. Well, maybe not ugly, but certainly not great. Yes, she looks much better than usual, but I can’t sign off on a glittery jumpsuit.

  • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

I am loving her lately. Loving. Kudos to her new people.

    • decormaven

Yes, her stylists are really hitting their marks. Every look has scored.

  • eowyn_of_rohan

Glittery taupe jumpsuit. You see something new every day.

  • KirFla

“Jackass” Thanks for the lol Guncles, I needed that!

  • Leo Ridela

I love that she’s learning how to elongate herself through her clothes, since she’s not very tall.

  • Karen Belgrad

It looks like the distant cousin of Britney Spears’ nude bodysuit from the 2000 VMA’s.

    • DaringMiss

      I had the same thought!

  • Imasewsure

It’s a bit mature but she looks great. Kind of love the outfit but so glad she chose to line it.

  • Jessica Freeman

She has most certainly hired someone. This girl prefers her clothes crocheted, ripped, and dirty. No way she figured the past 3 chic ones on her own.

  • majorbedhead

She looks pretty good, all things considered, although I do think that deep V neck is making her boobs look like pancakes. And thank the baby jeebus she had that thing lined.

  • MilaXX

Definitely some new gays. I agree a skinny bet would have been nice, but minor quibbles. She finally looks like a grown up instead of a little girl playing dress up.

  • teensmom99

I think this goes in the don’t try this at home category. I’ve always thought she was beautiful so I’m glad to see her figuring out how to dress like a grown up.

  • ampg

I think you really have to put a belt on a monochromatic jumpsuit, just to mitigate the pajama effect a bit. But I agree that this is a real step up for her.

  • librarygrrl64

    I don’t….hate it!

  • Trisha26

Well I hate it, duh, it’s a jumpsuit. Why do designers use gorgeous fabric like this when they know any real-world wearing will require a lining. Ruins the diaphanous/drapey effect.

  • conniemd

I’m so happy that unlike the runway look, hers is lined and we don’t have see through legs in jumpsuits. The worst new fashion trend this year.

edit – I see others below jumped for joy at the lining.

  • http://blog.missourimel.com/ melissa

I thought — Look at her smiling and no duck face. Scroll. Scroll. Scroll. Duck face.

  • LaSylphide

As jumpsuits go, not too bad. And thank heavens, no Panties on Parade.

  • Danielle L

A belt would have pushed into Blanche Devereaux territory. This is cute as hell.

  • flamingoNW

Yes, a good bag for once. I like!

  • Synnamin

My god I hate jumpsuits. I don’t care who’s wearing it, or how pretty it is, if it’s a jumpsuit, it needs to die in a fire.

Hi. I’m Synnamin and I have IHS for jumpsuits

  • sekushinonyanko

Look how cute you are and fistbump for lining it.

  • frannyprof

I am so not liking this! I think it’s too much of a look for her. And unflattering, to boot.

  • Hetha Innis

Something about her choices lately has made me think she’s channeling J-Lo. The big hair knot, this jumpsuit, the diva level confidence…

  • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

AND she opted for the lining. Way to go, Vanessa!

  • Nonmercisansfacon

She did good. England agrees with her.

  • Anniebet

Nice to see the style growth continuing. I do wish she’s do something about the hair and those fried looking ends though.

  • ankali

I’m fine with the idea of this thing, but in execution, it’s so damned unflattering.

  • MzzPants

    Praise Bjeebus for lining.

  • Tracy_Flick

The whole effect is just a tad too Blanche Devereaux for me.
