Teyonah Parris in The Hellers at the Breaking Bad Final Episodes Celebration

Posted on July 26, 2013

Miss Teyonah is serving up hair fierceness. Please clear the area.

“Mad Men” star Teyonah Parris attends the AMC’s “Breaking Bad” The Final Episodes Celebration in a The Hellers top and skirt paired with Ruthie Davies ‘Nikki’ sandals.

We could get behind the outfit – which really suits her – if it just didn’t have that bow around her waist. Also, the shoes seem to be fighting with the outfit a little. They’re both a bit too showy and attention-seeking to be paired together. This outfit probably called for the black pumps we’ve been bitching about for most of the last month.

But the real story, as always, is her hair and face; both of which are perfect. Also loving the earrings quite a bit.

Can’t say I love the outfit but those are some rockin shoes. And she has a billion dollar smile.

    • majorbedhead

I was just going to say that about her smile. A thousand watts.

    • KateShouldBeWorking

I don’t know a thing about this girl and I desperately want her to be my friend.

  • Courtenay P

    gorgeous makeup. Wow.

    • Starlynn

  • Carleenml

Her hair is TDF. Exactly what we should see heading into the weekend.

  • Heather

    Fab all around!

  • sugarkane105

I love me some Dawn on the red carpet.

  • Jessica Freeman

Loving the hair and make up. Definitely no bow on the skirt. And the skirt is way too tight (I know her pain, having hips and all) Shoes are not working at all.

  • etselec

Love those earrings, and I like the clutch. Wrong choice of nail color, however.

  • Jessica Pippin

She’s gorgeous. Love it. Definitely agree about the bow, though.

  • marlie

I don’t care about anything south of the neck because THAT HAIR. THAT SMILE. Gorgeous.

I need to figure out how to get my hair to do that.

    • MilaXX

Not sure about this look, but Feleicia Leatherwood did a youtube tutorial on how she did her hair for the awards.

      • marlie

Thanks! My sister has created some pretty amazing hairstyles, but I haven’t mastered the art yet. YouTube tutorials are just what I need.

  • Glam Dixie

Hair and face look amazing, hate the shoes and something about the outfit isn’t working for me.

  • Maria Photinakis

Amazing all around — I LOVE that clutch, too!!

  • Stella Zawistowski

DAMN that black backdrop, because I just want to look at the hair.

  • MilaXX

She’s one of those people I look at and think, “She’s so pretty!” I wonder if Felicia Leatherwood did her hair again. Her makeup artist deserves to be praised.

    • Starlynn

Thank you! I did the makeup and yes Felicia Leatherwood did the hair 🙂

      • MilaXX

girl you beat that face like no other!

        • Starlynn

          Thanks so much!

      • It’s flat-out PERFECT.

      • Lanus

Congratulations on a job well done! She looks fantastic.

  • Nonmercisansfacon

Hair WERQ sister! And that smile.

  • PastryGoddess

I can barely see her hair fierceness against the backdrop. However, she wins on that smile alone

  • teensmom99

Once again, light blue nails are distracting me. As to everything else–shoes are fab but as you say, perhaps not with this. And nothing else to you spot-on assessment.

    • amanda siegelson

i don’t mind the colour of the nails – but i do mind that the toes and hands have the same colour polish. i don’t dig that, myself.

  • Rand Ortega

That’s a hair WERQ or HERQ as I just made up a word. I wish I could comment on the rest of her look but unfortunately I’ve just been blinded– THAT SMILE! Wow. I bet she just lights up a room. What a gorgeous young woman.

  • Just Me

My grandmother used to look at an outfit and sometimes say that one part of an outfit was “cursing out” another part…meaning it wasn’t up to the same high standard of fabulous. I am hear to say that her outfit is cursing out her hair and face and it is a real shame. She is stunning and deserves an outfit that is with the program.

    • demidaemon

I love this idea. We need to use this POV more often around here!

  • NoveltyRocker

She went for it with the earrings, clutch and shoes, and the outfit is pretty simple and fits so great, I don’t think the accessorizing overpowers anything. Hair really sells the entire thing through and the makeup is so flattering, and she’s genuinely smiling, AND this is the actor we usually see in plain Dawn get-ups on Mad Men? WERQ

  • stubbornthoughts

I didn’t even look at her outfit, I was too enamored with what’s happening above her shoulders. GAWGEOUS!

  • tereliz

This is the first time I can willingly sign off on bare midriff that’s not on a teenager or Diane Kruger. Teyonah looks amazing! If the bow were just a band around the waist, and her shoes weren’t so shiny, this would be impeccable!

  • neonseattle

great hair, makeup and smile. everything else is secondary

  • SpillinTea

Yasss mama is SERVING and I am totally here for it! Not really feeling the shoes, and would probably like the outfit better if there wasn’t the stomach reveal ala Zoe Saldana, but the hair and makeup? 10s across the board!!

  • formerlyAnon

I think she looks great. Prefer it if the bow were a plain band, but otherwise I’ll leave the quibbling to more stringent critics.

    • Rhonda Shore

The bow isn’t bothering me and i’m not generally a bow or frou frou person. She looks fantastic.

  • jen

Those Mad Men hair and make up people are genius in that they manage to hide all of this fabulosity. It seems impossible to do!

  • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

    That smile! My god. Gorgeous.

    • Pennymac

      Mega watt beautiful!

  • filmcricket

Hate hate hate everything south of her neck, aside from the clutch. (Although gold is her colour, for sure). However, her face looks like a million bucks. What a stunner she is!

    • This is an example of how a great face and a megawatt smile can carry a lot of weight — I don’t dig the dress, the shoes or the nails, but that face! It makes the whole look work. She’s gorge.

  • Adriana_Paula

She knows how to strike a pose too!

  • Get it Girl!

  • Joan Wilder

She just couldn’t be any prettier.

  • Calinda_L

That is some seriously fantastic face.

  • TropiCarla

    She is my hair hero.

  • ItsDicey

Wow, beautiful! Somehow she’s even making the dress and shoes work. But I gotta’ say that face and hair are KILLAH!

  • jangma

Her hair leaves me in awe. What kind of sorcery is her hairstylist using? TEACH ME!

  • Iroqhard

She looks like she is walking a red carpet in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. And I mean that in the best way- it’s like someone teleported from a future red carpet. Future FIERCE!

  • ankali

I am really interested to see her work more. There’s such a huge difference in the way she presents herself in public and the restrained work she does on Mad Men that I can’t help but think that she might be quite the acting powerhouse.

    • You are so spot on. I can’t wait to see her in meatier roles in the future. MW and writers on Mad Men are really stupid to let her potential go to such waste on their show, especially considering how they spun their wheels this last season.

      • ankali

For real. Less Sylvia, more Dawn would have been such an improvement.

  • ScarlettHarlot

She is insanely beautiful. The clothes don’t even register when someone has a face that radiant.

  • Judih1

love everything above the neck and below the ankles. do not like the style or color of the outfit

  • Danielle L

Love the mint nails on her.
