Simon Pegg at “The World’s End” Premiere

Posted on July 11, 2013

We probably should’ve held on to this one for Sausage Friday, but it’s just too cute:

Simon Pegg attends the world premiere of “The World’s End” at Empire Leicester Square in London.

The fit’s a little odd and he really needs to shave and we don’t think those shoes are working at all, so don’t mistake us here; we’re not saying it’s impeccable or anything. But it is cute, and it turns heads, and despite the issues he’s really trying and going out on a limb, style-wise. We can’t criticize. It brought a smile to our face.

But it is the color of a ’70s prom tuxedo, that can’t be denied. Then again, maybe that’s why it makes us smile. And maybe we can overlook the issues because we’re grateful he didn’t wear it with a ruffled shirt.

The only quibble I have is with the shoes. He’s just so wee and cute!

    • Frank_821

it’s is attention getting without being tacky-just imperfect

It’s funny. They tried to make his hair carpet presentablee but his face is still scruffy

    • Randy Noak

Pack it up and send it to Ellen DeGeneres.

      • oatmealpie

        Ellen would ROCK THIS.

    • kimmeister

Is he blond for a role?

      • Eclectic Mayhem

Yes, he tweeted about it recently. Not sure what the role is though.

    • Jessica Freeman

Its a great summery suit. I dislike the shoes as well. Minor quibble.

    • AzulFashion

      I think the tie clashes.

The pale blue with the dark detailing on the lapels and pockets takes it to Mel Torme land. Yeah, all I can see is a wedding singer from 1975. But he is adorable, nonetheless.

      • quiltrx

But Mel Torme land is awesome…who doesn’t want to be a callback to The Velvet Fog? :)

    • Michelle Wilson

I love Simon Pegg and he can wear whatever he wants. He looks pretty adorable here.

      • gabbilevy

Yup, love him. He can do anything.

    • another_laura

So many things wrong but he wears it with humor. Clashing blues (on my monitor, at least), those shoes, but he’s out there and I think it’s kind of adorable anyway.

    • MK03

Oh dear, Simon. This will never do. You simply MUST lose the suit and go around starkers.

    • Judy_S

      He is adorable. Summer wedding.

    • rloliveira

      I LOVE the tie.

    • stubbornthoughts

The guy in the back with the deep V shirt looks like he’s about to kidnap Simon and wear his suit everyday for the rest of his life.

Also, I adore Simon Pegg and he can do no wrong with me. Amazing how people with the right about of humor, wit, and charm can wear silly things without much consequence.

    • MoHub

’70s prom tuxedo is precisely where my mind went. And having graduated high school in 1969, I know whereof I speak.

    • Qitkat

I think my brother got married in this suit. In 1979.
      *g*

    • TheAmericaness

      It’s Simon Pegg. Adorbs!

    • unbornfawn

Quibbles. He looks adorable. Glad you didn’t wait for Sausage Friday. I needed a little smile today.

    • girliecue

TLo is posting away, working slavishly on Tom’s birthday. Goodness, I hope we Bitter Kittens deserve such a sacrifice! Happy Birthday, Daddy Tom! Have a wonderful and fabulous year!!

      • Gwyndall

        (Lorenzo’s)

        • girliecue

Ack! Thanks for the correction, Gwyndall! My middle aged mind thinks one thing and says another. Best birthday wishes for Lovely Lorenzo. And hope Tom has a nice day too.

    • Emily Smith

d’aw he is adorable. I just want to squeeze him.

    • Adriana_Paula

I love that he’s not a fashion guy, but still didn’t default to a banker’s suit. I salute you, sir.

    • Imasewsure

Yes the tie is a bit strange but not in a bad way. Not sure what possessed him (or his people) to choose those shoes… ignoring his feet and loving the rest of him!

    • hughman

“Our next number features the beautiful Sisters from the Fingerlakes. And a one, and a two…”

    • eowyn_of_rohan

This seriously highlights the importance of WHO is wearing it. Simon Pegg? Adorable. Anyone not named Simon Pegg? An intervention is needed.

      • largishbearishAtlish

Agreed…anyone else would be a “Send in the gays! Send in the gays!” here? charm.

    • http://foodycat.blogspot.co.uk/ foodycatAlicia

The shoes may be the wrong thing (I think some nice correspondent oxfords) but they are beautifully shined.

    • SewingSiren

I like this suit for summer. Agree he needs a shave. The shoes are too stuffy, he should try a pair of those suede wingtips with a bright colored sole and laces.

    • Bakerlooline

The shoes – are they too big? or are his feet really that big? or is it the color?

    • formerlyAnon

It’s a slightly odd suit, to my eye, the shoes should be another color or maybe white/brown (or white/navy?) oxfords? and god yes he needs to shave.

But for me his appeal is connected to the element of oddball scruffiness that’s apparent here, so I don’t mind.

    • River

Shave and different shoes and it would be pretty much perfect. Even as it is, I’m kind of in love!

    • Joyce VG

I don’t know why this man gives me butterflies but he does! He looks so handsome.

    • http://www.what-the-frock.com Dana WhatTheFrock

I love him and I love this.

    • Eric Stott

Very cute – though the close up is a little scary

    • Julie Chase

      He’s the best.

    • YoungSally

Will he be playing Richard Branson in some biopic?

    • OrigamiRose

      He’s adorkable.

    • Becca Robson

Aw the blonde hair brings back Spaced memories. Tim Bisley is all grown up!

    • shorty j

There’s something about his tie knot that makes me want to just give it a big yank – it’s just too big and looks like he forgot to tighten it the rest of the way.

Otherwise, love. And jealousy, because if I wore that suit, I’d look like Toddler’s First Easter Sunday.

      • Iroqhard

See, it’s the invitation to yank that big ass tie that is so endearing. And kinda sexy.

    • H2olovngrl

Unconditional love over here, so I can’t be objective. Adorable all around.

    • ballerinawithagun

I’m so glad you mentioned the prom tuxedo! My sister graduated in ’79 from Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls, SD. They had the distinction of the first gay couple attending prom. The couple wore matching blue tuxedos, of course.

    • http://dorothydamage.wordpress.com/ Dorothy Damage

Sigh. He makes this nerd heart flutter. I love the awkwardness of this suit.

    • Miss WKS

Where’s his bubble machine and baton?

    • ThaliaMenninger

      Is he on The Prisoner?

    • Kate4queen

No prom in the UK so he probably wouldn’t get the reference :) He looks happy in his blissful ignorance. :)

    • Anniebet

Dem shoes… a slightly less obvious version of clown shoes? It must be the darker color on the front that makes them look way too long and slightly bulbous.

    • Dan_In_NYC

      Is that periwinkle?

    • largishbearishAtlish

God, thank you for a bit of whimsey. I smiled too… thank you Simon Pegg (the 3rd pic reminded me of Captain Kangaroo, reborn in a Dr Who sort of way)

    • http://lavidalaura.com/ Laura Grai

I want to like it because it’s something different, but I dunno…I just can’t with that color.

    • Annarosa

      sausage Friday? really, guys? please.
a big hug to Simon, he’s cute and funny. I kinda like him here.

    • veleri

love Mr. Pegg, love him. This is a nice try! (please remember: he had a fantastic fear of everything)

    • Anne

      A powder blue Norfolk suuuuuuuit…

    • veriance

      a-dork-able!

    • calbear97

Is that Josh Groban behind him?
