Sienna Miller in Dolce&Gabbana at the BMW i3 Global Reveal Event

Posted on July 31, 2013

Like any decent bitchy red carpet commenter worth his or her salt, we pre-cringed at these photos. Some people, you just wind up expecting to look like total ass in public. Maybe that’s mean and judgmental, but we have two things to say to that:

  1. So?
  2. Miss Sienna’s more than earned her rep on this front.

So imagine our surprise:

Sienna Miller attends the BMW i3 Global Reveal Party in a Dolce&Gabbana floral print babydoll dress paired with Jimmy Choo sandals.

Dolce&Gabbana Floral Print Babydoll Dress

She looks fresh, cute and coordinated. Attagirl.

Can we just say that we’ll take this Dolce & Gabbana over the somewhat dreary and played-out Sicilian widow drag they keep returning to? Boys, it’s really time to let that Sophia Petrillo shit go.

Steal some earrings from the Baroness, swipe Liesl’s shoes and I’m outie for the night.

    • gabbilevy

I love both the dress and the shoes. Not 100% sold on them together.

      • eowyn_of_rohan

Yeah, I would have gone with a blue or red/pink shoe.

    • teensmom99

Today I’m feeling really foolish for having given away all my clothes from the 80s.

    • Lily

This is absolutely adorable and season appropriate. I would wear everything here. In fact, I need the knockoff version of this dress right now.

      • MilaXX

modcloth probably has a zillion variations of it.

    • Glam Dixie

It looks a bit like curtain fabric but she looks summery and really cute here. I’m not sure I would have paired that dress with black shoes though.

    • desi_girl

That dress costs $1500! And it looks just like any other pretty, summer dress! $1500!! I have nothing more to say. :-/

      • alyce1213

Well . . . at least it’s pretty. Better than $1500 for an ugly POS, which we see a lot.

        • desi_girl

          Well, that is true!

I somehow can’t get over it. I love designer clothes (can’t really afford any) and I can get behind $50,000 gowns because there’s often gorgeous beading, embroidery or lush fabrics involved. For a summer dress, it’s insane!

          • Little_Olive

I have that reaction with designer shoes. I’ve seen $700 glorified flip-flops. Not even pumps. One square inch of leather (not always), and not necessarily the embodiment of chaussure beauty.

      • NBG

$1500? It’s a nice dress but I can also buy something that looks exactly like it at Charlotte Russe or Forever 21 in the Mall.

        • desi_girl

          Right?!!!

      • Aurumgirl

I”m glad that’s what it costs, and I hope she spent it. I have that dress from the early 90’s–mine has thinner straps though. I’m sure I paid a lot less than that.

    • rage_on_the_page

      Picture it…

      • demidaemon

        Sicily, 1935….

    • Julie Chase

Love it. LOVE it. And all of my cells are screaming that the pattern is ugly, but…love.

    • alyce1213

A little fix-up of the beach hair would have worked, she’s on the RC, not out for a walk.
Otherwise, lovely dress and very suitable for her and the season. Love the shoes.

    • marlie

I like the version of this dress on her so much better than the one on the model. Her hair is a little blah, but the rest is nice. And I’d cut a bitch for those shoes.

      • alyce1213

Marlie, we are in sync today.

    • Just Me

It’s shockingly normal and accessible for her. Attagirl is right. I would not have chosen those shoes to go with that dress, nor the earrings necessarily, but (pretty substantial) baby steps. All good.

    • Sonja Brisson

She’s a beauty and the dress is cute, but her hair is always kind of…feh. When is she going to get a good hairstylist?

      • Morgendorffer

Have you seen The September Issue documentary? Anna Wintour spends a decent chunk of it bemoaning that Sienna’s hair is shit.

        • Sonja Brisson

Yes! I love that movie, and boy, her hair does look uh, subpar. Gee, these rich movie folk need to spend their money where it counts!

        • Little_Olive

And her teeth, and her neck, and she kind of implies that Vogue needs to have movie stars but she wishes they didn’t… and then of how Testino made her go all the way to Rome only to have a simple closeup. That might all be true, but shit if Meryl wasn’t far.

    • HVM

I’ve never understood her appeal and she’s still doing nothing for me here, but I do covet those shoes.

    • kimmeister

She looks adorable, and that coral lipstick is amazing on her. The only thing I don’t like are the shoes – the black is too severe with this look, plus, ankle straps.

    • Diego!

I love love love love this dress on her! She looks fresh, happy and comfortable! You WERQ that bouquet dress Miss Sienna! :)

    • MilaXX

      1. She looks really cute
      2. I am so with you on the D & G lace crap that is EVERYWHERE

    • OrigamiRose

I need that dress in my wardrobe.

    • seelebrennt

i don’t understand why she ever became a thing.

    • SophiaPehawkins

Sophia Petrillo reference. Someone’s after my heart.

As far as Sienna is concerned, she looks great. Young and fresh.

    • ConnieBV

OMG, Sophia Petrillo. I need to buy a straw purse.

    • AnnaleighBelle

Thank you for typing “commenter” rather than “commentator.”

    • Jaeda Laurez

Love this dress. So summery and cute. I liked the shoes, and then i really looked at them and I like them less now, but still, overall a very cute look for Ms. Miller who usually looks like The Morning After incarnate.

    • Imasewsure

A little too standard garden party but cute and as said, much preferred to the dungeon master/widows weeds

    • Erica_Vuitton

I thought this was Scarlett Johansson and kept wondering what she had done to her face!

    • Lola Channing

she’s cute, she’s young, she’s got a great bod: she is still allowed to wear anything that tickles her fancy.

    • Tatiana Luján

      I love everything about this.

    • Jackie4g

Now here is one time where white shoes would make sense, as it’s all summery and floral and bright and gay. Hey – my mother used that word to describe happy colors and prints all the time, and in this instance it fits.
Speaking of appropriateness, the fabric print is of a substantial proportion, and chopping it up into a brassiere like top and a hundred skirt gores may be the new thing, but it’s not doing any justice to the print. So i object to how the pretty print is being bastardized. Other than that, I like the look of it all.

    • Griffinqueen

I had a Betsy Johnson dress like this in the ’80’s.

    • Louise Bryan

So glad they got rid of the baby doll-ness, by moving the waist down. Much improved.

    • OneRing

The dress is too long to be a “baby doll”. The proportions on the model are much better. I do love those shoes! Gorgeous!

    • Rand Ortega

I think the widow drag may be reflective of D&G owing the Italian government $400M for tax evasion & 18 months (suspended) in prison.
Sienna looks lovely. That dress really flatters her.

    • Anniebet

Very cute dress on her. It’s really more of a sundress than a baby doll the way she’s wearing it – an improvement, IMO. Love the flashy earrings. Her face is quite lovely here.

Love the Sicilian Widow Drag tag… perfect three word tag for that photo shoot. D&G have been surfing along on those religious icon designs for far too long now. Hang up the fricking crown, pls.

    • Le_Sigh

I thought it was Kate Bosworth before I read the title of the post.

    • Little_Olive

This… is a good surprise. I really like everything.
I’m guessing her stylist got her high and dressed her.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

I like that the dress is longer on her than on the model. Very pretty.

    • LipstickForPigs

That lipstick is beautiful on her.

      • conniemd

One of my first impressions as well.

    • Anne At Large

I love this dress but did she steal Naomi Watts’ face? What is going on here?

    • girliecue

Sophia would wear the hell out of that dress! With a cardigan draped across her shoulders and a straw purse, of course. The dress looks great on Sienna too. Wish she’d do something with her hair already.

    • sekushinonyanko

She looks great. And boy did I ever immediately recognize this dress as Dolce and Gabbana. Good job in having a distinctive “look,” boys. She looks so beautiful and well made up and lit that she looks like she’s the sweet wife of a character about to have her husband stolen away by one of the vixeny Dolce and Gabanna widows in a period movie set in the early sixties in Italy.

    • DamH

She looks fresh, love the shoes!

    • http://missbethg.wordpress.com Beth Ann

That’s the best she’s ever looked! If she has a new stylist, that person is doing a great job.

    • kimbalala

I love a sophia petrillo reference.

    • Candigirl1968

Cute dress, but not sure about the earrings or the shoes.

    • Danielle L

This is presh and the shoes are pretty darn good too. Four for you, Sienna!
