Piper Perabo in NYC, Exiting “The Today Show”

Posted on July 23, 2013

Well now, this is a little unexpected for a post-Today Show getup.

Piper Perabo at NBC Studios in New York City for an appearance on ‘The Today Show’ to promote “Covert Affairs” in a Junk Food Clothing Jimi Hendrix Butterfly Back Tank.

It certainly caught our eyes.

We gotta love a celebugal rocking a Hendrix tank top on a hot NYC day in front of cameras. We think we like the idea of the pants more than the reality of them. B&W striped pants sound like a great idea to make a classic rocker-t look a little chic, but the cut of the pant here isn’t really working with the shapelessness of that top. She needs skinny pants to make the look work, we’re thinking. Those pants are calling for a jacket and more structured blouse. Also, the shoes aren’t quite working with the top either, but we suspect those are the shoes she wore for her on-camera outfit, which was a bit dressier than this. It’s kind of charming that she didn’t pack two elaborate outfits for entering and exiting like some of our more grandiose stars tend to. We love a high-maintenance style bitch as much as two queens can, but there’s something refreshing about Miss Piper’s low-maintenance street style here.

Is she trying to confuse us by associating herself with Piper from Orange is the New Black?

    • sablehunter

      Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

    • Diego!

Girl hasn’t aged in centuries!!! I remember seeing her in “Coyote Ugly” more than 10 years ago! When I was in school, needless to say! :P

      • Meg0GayGuys6

That was more than 10 years ago?! Ugh I feel old.

        • Diego!

I think it was during the past milenium! :O

          • Meg0GayGuys6

OMG it was 13 years ago! Holy crap, girl looks goooooood!

            • Cz

My god, I feel old. (And I secretly love that movie.)

    • Meg0GayGuys6

I’d love to see her and Salma passing each other as they enter and exit GMA/Today Show/Whatever. That’s be fantastic :)

    • decormaven

Skinnier pants and a different shoe, and this would be rockin’ for real.

I feel as if she is swinging for the Stefani fences and coming up short.

    • Emily Smith

I mean she’s clearly headed for her night shift at coyote ugly.

      • sugarkane105

Just needs more of that early-2000s midriff.

        • Emily Smith

I’m sure it can be arranged. Ah the 2000′s. So much midriff.

    • Heather

I have a deep dislike for ‘couture’ tshirts.

    • housefulofboys

I’m just glad she’s smiling and looks happy, she went many years looking angsty and miserable.

      • 3boysful

I just find her gorgeous. Have always wanted to be a brown-eyed blonde.

    • Jessica Freeman

Definitely needs a skinny cut on the pant and different shoes. Good try though, Piper.

    • Andsheewas

I love this, but yes, skinnier pants and different shoes!

I kinda want to agree with you, but there was a lady in yoga yesterday wearing the exact same thing, except the leggings were spandex.

    • Imasewsure

      Love it

    • maggiemaybe

      Stone free? Really Piper?

      • http://www.tomandlorenzo.com/ Tom and Lorenzo

It’s a Hendrix song. I’m confused as to what the objection is.

        • maggiemaybe

Oh no, I know it’s a Hendrix song, it’s just the juxtaposition with the pants and the fancy shoes and the tasteful gold jewelry that’s throwing me off. It’s just not very rock and roll. Someone like Chrissy Hynde would have rocked that shirt a little more authentically for my taste… y’know?

    • Catiline

I really like it. The hair is my only quibble. I’m all for keeping it casual but it’s sort of a mess.

    • BeeBeauNYC

I don’t know who she is, but she’s a dead ringer for Kylie Minogue in that first picture.

      • CozyCat

She stars in one of those perfectly frothy little summer shows that the USA Network can crank out like a machine. She plays a spy who travels around the world in her Louboutin’s, shooting at bad guys with pauses for costume changes and affairs with increasing handsome men. It’s kind of “Alias” lite. (Although it does have Peter Gallagher in a supporting role.)

    • MilaXX

If those jeans were Gwen Stefani style skinny jeans, this would be a WERQ in my eyes

    • http://frankbettecenter.org/ sleah_in_norcal

i love this whole look, top to bottom. very retro late sixties, but yet chic and put together. the shoes keep it from looking sloppy. i want those pants on my sixty-year-old butt. now.

      rock on, jimi!!

    • MoHub

The shoes offend. She needs a strappy black flat sandal.

I was so happy to see beautiful and talented Piper get her own show after Coyote Ugly. She was probably the only good thing to come out of that silly movie.

She needs serious help dressing herself. She was on Wendy this morning, wearing tight black shorts that were cut just above the knee (picture thick bicycle shorts). They were unflattering and just awful. This outfit is a few steps better, if you can believe that. Can’t find too much fault for a Hendrix fan.

      • fursa_saida

Covert Affairs is one of my junk food shows. (I refuse to use the term guilty pleasure, so this is what I call them–just braincandy.) It’s so silly and I love it–and Augie doesn’t hurt.

    • teensmom99

I, too, love that she didn’t pack up a whole different outfit but I could kind of love this outfit if she had different shoes on. I love an elegant shoe but it is just too off with that top.

    • sagecreek

      She’s adorable!

    • kimmeister

I definitely like the carefree and casual vibe, but I just think those striped pants in any width aren’t the best for her muscular thighs.

    • patticake1601

Better than what she wore on Wendy Williams Show.

    • Trisha26

Just terrible. It’s like she spilled coffee on the real outfit and was forced to wear pieces loaned to her by the backstage crew.

    • girliecue

If you’re going to change into a tank-tee and loose-ish pants, why not lose the pointy-toed pumps too? There are plenty of shoe styles that are far more comfortable and would look fine.

    • majorbedhead

Those shoes are making my toes hurt.

    • ailujailuj

      I love it… and I shouldn’t.
Only the tall trees can get away with the skinny pants and loosely slutty stuff on top. But we shorties still try.

    • DeTrop

Great look. It’s a hot weather/NYC look. Very refreshing. Very chic.

    • formerlyAnon

      I love this. Full stop.

    • marlie

This is really cute! I think skinny pants would have worked better, but these don’t bother me. And I WANT those shoes.

    • Nonmercisansfacon

      Where’s Auggie girl?

    • largishbearishAtlish

my first thought was ‘can’t you wait til you are AT the gym to put on work out clothes?’ then I realized that are very nice

(and not quite right) pants…I give her big points for trying (I never actually thought about a during and after interview outfit..
so it makes sense (and got to say Coyote Ugly is *still* a joyous guilty pleasure when I stumble on it on cable…

can we have a ‘caption the quasi-handler’ in pic 4? “for this I went to night school?”
