Take a pair of scissors and cut the sheer part off on the bottom and I think this would be much better.

      • BrooklynBomber

I agree. It’s so strange but I think I like it. The sheer section works on the model because with her added height the silhouette and proportions are different. On Minnie it’d look better to the knee, sans sheers.

    • Emily Dagger

      First reaction: O’Keefe.

      Second reaction: Salmon fillet.

Third reaction: I actually like it better on her than on the model — it seems to flow more naturally and there isn’t that weird disjunction between the tunic section and the skirt section.

      Fourth reaction: Yep. Salmon fillet.

      • moppet

        Oh god. Can’t unsee.

        • TheAmericaness

          That was my thought.

          • Jennifer Peters-Ahnberg

Salmon fillet is all I can see now.

      • j_anson

Yeah, thanks, I USED to like this dress, but now… :)

      • H2olovngrl

        Mmmmm…salmon…

      • flamingoNW

        Oh jeez. Yeah.

I actually like the medium shot, love the fabric and color against her skin, but now…. Salmon fillet….

    • Slanted & Enchanted

Is she supposed to look like an ode to sashimi?

      • Slanted & Enchanted

I can’t believe that, after over four years of reading this site religiously, that THIS is the photo that finally pushed me to create a profile so I could comment. I’m weeping. So many wasted opportunities to defend Daniel V’s PR All Stars win.

        • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

Well, awful fashion choices must be discussed, darling. Love the avatar you selected.

        • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

          Welcome to the Kittenfold!

        • H2olovngrl

why on earth did you take so long? Maybe we’ve missed you!

        • formerlyAnon

          So glad you’ve joined in!

(Personally, I felt Daniel V’s profile justified every additional week he was on PR. Design/dressmaking was just a bonus.)

          • Slanted & Enchanted

I agree wholeheartedly. My 15-year-old self was SO CRUSHED when I realized he was gay and not, in fact, my future boyfriend.

            • formerlyAnon

Ha! There are so many faces full of beautiful bones out there though, if one can go beyond the catalog model/t.v. soap star template. It truly is a wonderful world.

    • http://joyouslifesf.wordpress.com Kiltdntiltd

The fit, particularly the neckline is off for her. Also, the underslip the dress is shown with is what gives it real shape and interest. She would have done better to include it.

    • Mel

As I scrolled down the photos, all I could think was, “Girl, that is not your dress.”

    • http://smalltownbigwardrobe.com/ Catherine

The colors are lovely on her, but I can’t get over the illusion that her boobs are being squished.

      • poggi

I am disturbed by that as well, but more so by the illusion that she has been vivisected.

    • Gigi76

I adore her and she herself looks terrific, but all I can think of looking at this dress are those creepy bodies in the Museum exhibit where they show you their muscles and skeletons…..especially around the top of the chest area. Just no.

      • marlie

        Now I can’t unsee that.

      • H2olovngrl

Wow, this dress has all kinds of different nuances to it!

    • MilaXX

I like the dress, I just don’t like it on Minnie. I guess that makes this Not Her Dress. It needs someone who can gel with the sort of glam, beachy vibe this dress gives off.

    • Not applicable

wish she had worn those goggles… that would have been hilarious.

      • H2olovngrl

        YES!

    • MaggieMae

I’m looking for excuses to like this more than I actually do like it. Issues with fit. Bra. It has potential. I want to like it.

    • veleri

love the color palette of the dress, it’s fresh and calming

      • H2olovngrl

        And makes ME hungry.

        • veleri

          AHAHHAHHAHAH!! mmm salmon

    • Julia

It looks better on her than it does on the model but that’s really not saying much. And someone wake me up when Miss Minnie decides to do something with her hair.

    • Lori

Too much going on there. Plus the fit is weird, which is an odd thing to have to say about something so shapeless.

    • Janet B

Her colors, but not her dress.

    • MoHub

      Oh, Minnie, no!

    • http://dontmakeitlikeimdumb.blogspot.com/ annabelle archer

      Well, this is unfortunate.

    • VeryClaire

Love it – perfect for a lunch on a hot summer day! Great colors.

    • cindiaune

That dress is really, really ugly.

    • clevRcat

It is… uh… interesting, but manages to make her spectacular figure oddly shapeless. If a tall, gorgeous gal like Minnie can’t pull it off, it may just be a bad dress.

    • Jaeda Laurez

I don’t understand what’s happening here. I think it would have been nicer if it were more fitted. But as is, i feel like this is confusing choice.

    • SephSki

The dress looks like it’s made from salmon fillets.

    • gurl boy

Shades of Geoffrey Beene…but terribly executed! Looks like shes wearing droopy panties over her nightgown?

    • marlie

I wish it wasn’t so shapeless, because the colors are lovely, and the idea behind the dress is kind of interesting.

    • ashtangajunkie

It’s a bit shapeless, but I actually like it on her. The colours are lovely. A bit fishy, as others have mentioned, but lovely nonetheless.

    • rage_on_the_page

I think I like the runway version better. A little more volume at the bottom. Really pretty colors and fabrics, though. Something this shapeless can really only work on someone this thin.

    • Garcia Loca

Strangely unflattering dress, but Minnie looks like she doesn’t give a damn — which I love.

    • Kimmu

So this is what the Colossal Titan from Shingeki no Kyojin would look like if he decided to wear a fancy dress.

    • Alyssa

To me, it looks like it would be a very comfortable dress to wear while you’re pregnant.

    • formerlyAnon

I love this on her. I’m not going to say that it’s entirely flattering through the bodice, but I so often just don’t appreciate her ensembles that I’m letting that “love” stand.

    • majorbedhead

This is not the most flattering thing in the world, huh? So sad. She’s so gorgeous – she was one of my original girl crushes – but this dress makes her look sort of dumpy. It looks comfortable and the colors are great on her, but the shapelessness of it is just blah.

Still! Minnie Driver! I don’t think I’ve ever seen her on here before.

      • mhleta

I know! I was so excited to see her. She’s always the coolest girl in the room.

    • maggiemaybe

It’s an odd get up but it does showcase her adorable freckles.

    • KatDuck

I love the colors and the idea but the execution … really, unless this is the Target line of Missoni, those stripes really should match at the seams. It bothers me that the pattern at the right and left necklines aren’t symmetrical. Same on the runway version but it’s lacking the extra stripe on the left side so it looks more deliberate and less like a cutting error. And I’m really not convinced that’s a good neckline for the dress. Now Minnie herself looks lovely so points for that – I even like the casual ponytale with the idea of the dress. But the dress itself? Failing on technical issues.

    • MzzPants

Looks like a human muscle diagram.

    • nannypoo

This would make a great beach cover-up. But then she would wear a bathing suit instead of flashing her naked boobs as she appears to be doing here.

    • shopgirl716

      I love it.

      • kirkyo

        Me too.

    • Sagecreek

I actually like the dress on her, but what happened to her smile?

    • stephbellard

Great face and makeup but fussy too-much-going-on dress.

    • Sara__B

Bless her heart. At least she looks comfortable.

    • BuffaloBarbara

      Expensive mumu.

    • PastryGoddess

She looks like a Body Worlds* cadaver come to life

      *google at your own risk*

    • NormDeplume720

She looks like Slim Goodbody in that dress.

    • frannyprof

I really like this. I’ve missed Ms. Driver. I want to go to that event.

    • crash1212

Well…..it’s a rather unfortunate spot in which that pointy thing decides to stop – well – pointing. And it looks like her toes are making a run for it. And the color doesn’t suit her much. And…are those chestal regions I see. Not the best effort.

    • H2olovngrl

I love her so much that I can say not one bad thing. (major fangurl)

    • Liza Stufflococucs

I like the optical illuision the top picture makes if you roll your scroll bar up and down, it looks like she’s moving back and forth

    • MartyBellerMask

I want to like it, but man. Way unflattering.

    • PrunellaV

Ugh. Looks like an overly complicated nightgown.

    • conniemd

Love Minnie Driver. Saw her in a rewatch of “Sleepers” the other day. Dress had potential, but she resembles an A-Frame house i an unflattering way.

    • E. D.

If she was going to go fitted, she should have gone all the way with it and had it fitted more at the waist. Otherwise, no major complaints.

    • demidaemon

Melted sherbert dress that was put together in two hours. No.

    • bellafigura1

I kind of like it, but and because it’s somewhat pornographic. I don’t even know what I mean, but … it’s like sexy. Very sexy.

    • Anniebet

Dang, first pic looks like she’s wearing matching granny panties over the outfit and has a bit of a “front wedgie”. I’d call it by its slang name, but dromedary digits are so 1990s.

    • ankali

I really want to like this — the colors are pretty, it’s risky, it’s Missoni — but it’s just not flattering.

    • LaSylphide

That is so not her dress. Baggy and unflattering and she’s standing like she knows it. Colors are pretty, though.

    • mhleta

She’s wearing it way better than the model, but in truth this is no one’s dress. The graphic pattern lines up to negate all that is good about the female form.

    • http://asskickingadviser.com/ Ass Kicking Adviser

Wow, I think she looks amazing. Beautiful from head to toe. So summery and chic.

    • macwell

Its a nice enough dress, but I’m sorry – she and the model look like goldfish….

    • Holly

This kind of reminds me of Bodies the Exhibition. There’s something very “anatomical diagram of the major muscle groups” going on here.

    • librarygrrl64

Aw, I love her, but I am not feeling this dress AT ALL.
