Once again, we’re very happy to see a ladystar sporting V&R on the red carpet. And it’s a ladystar who needs to be handled like a baby chick, because she’ll run straight into drab, earth-toned dresses again if we scare her too much.

We give her a lot of credit for picking something like this, even if it is well inside her Amish-plain, neutral-toned wheelhouse. But it’s at least got some cheek and edge to it. And we really like those bright pink/salmon pumps she’s sporting with it. We even like the clutch. But this look is clearly missing something. We think she needed some big, mod jewelry and a more ambitious paint job than that on the face. But she’s not the girl to do that sort of thing, so ultimately, we think this isn’t the dress for her. But this is not listed as a “Girl, That’s Not Your Dress,” because we think with the right styling, it could totally be her dress. But she’s not a risk-taker or someone who takes things past a very limited point, style-wise.
This really seems to be a theme with our celeb style posts lately, but there’s a lot to be said for committing to a look. If you’re going to wear the Rosemary’s Baby dress, then you should commit to interpreting that style for the rest of the look. This is a good effort and the shoes show that someone knew where to go with this look, but it doesn’t quite go as far as it needs to.
