Heidi Klum in Versace at the “America’s Got Talent” Pre-Show at Radio City

Posted on July 24, 2013

Never change, Heidi.

Heidi Klum at the “America’s Got Talent” Season 8 Live Voting Rounds Kick-off Pre-Show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City in a Versace dress paired with Saint Laurent shoes and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

Because if you did change, and suddenly eschewed skin-tight neon animal print dresses, the world simply wouldn’t know what to do with you, would it? For what is a Heidi, without a tight, (usually short,) and shiny?

You gotta love her for knowing her look and applying it so damn consistently. If you’re someone who pays attention to her style, then you’ve no doubt encountered a dress on a rack and thought, “That’s totally a Heidi Klum dress.” Sure, she can veer into tacky when she’s not careful, but at least she knows her strengths and plays to them.

Orange skin isn’t one of her strengths. She must be missing Michael Kors.

    • demidaemon

Agreed. I think the dress is fine. It’s her sprayed to match skin that is causing me eye twitches.

      • AnaRoW

What was her skin sprayed to match? It’s clashing with just about everything expect that NBC peacock feather.

    • patticake1601

Wasn’t she just in Bora Bora a few days ago?

      • EdithP

Yes. I think she is naturally tan, but the lighting has made her orange. Look how brassy her hair is. She looks pretty normal in the 3rd photo.

  • Oh but , Ladymama, that is one fugly dress.

Off topic note two: San Francisco Bay Area Kittens now have a Facebook page. Just look up Bay Area Bitter Kittens to find it.

    • veriance

      So jealous.

      • Come and play too, if you want to!

        • mmebam

I liked the page, but I live practically on the other side the country.

          • Its appreciated nonetheless, and you’re still welcome to hang out with us all virtually. And should you ever wend your way westward,…..

          • formerlyAnon

In the same boat, and my days of nearly annual visits to Northern CA are past – but if I manage to get there I am SO looking you (& the other SF BKs) up.

(My son was recently touristing in SF and I suggested he visit your emporium of employment, but he had other fish to fry. Which I understood.)

          • You know, i hope, how very welcome you will be.

          • formerlyAnon

Yes, & I (we all) appreciate your gentlemanly inclusiveness.

          • LuisaNL

I liked your Facebook page, even if I am halfway across the world! 🙂

          • That is so very sweet of you. Thanks!

      • d4divine

        Of what….the kittens?

    • I searched Facebook, but Bitter Area Bitter Kittens doesn’t come up.

      • If you go to the Rachel Bilson post for today and look at my comment on the first page, the actual link is there. Sorry about that!

    • Kt

thank you thank you thank you. Let’s play soon BABKs.

  • MilaXX

I wouldn’t mind this so much if her hair didn’t look to be the same shade of yellow as in the dress. Any day we don’t risk seeing Heidi’s pubs, is a good day in my book.

    • 3boysful

Agree–I was thinking as I scrolled down that this was downright demure for Frau Klum. You can barely see her knees, and there’s no decolletage. Is the back totally open? 🙂

  • MsOlympia

    My eyes are burning!

  • The optical situations here are a bit hurtful to my eyes.

  • SewingSiren

    She is entirely too orange.

  • Amy909

The dress isn’t so bad actually..like others have mentioned, it’s the orange skin and bright yellow hair that takes it into tacky territory. so close heidi!!!

  • Those belt things are ironically obliterating her waist.

    • MoHub

That and having the lighter color in the middle. I’m thinking that if the top and bottom were white and the middle band yellow, she might look slightly shaplier.

      • Right? It’s a sad sack of a dress that makes Heidi look blocky.

  • lobsterlen

Heidi should shop in the Victoria Secrets catalog for her skin tight dresses because those dresses are a hell of a lot more attractive than the one she is wearing.

  • ErmengardeGreen

That is Oompa-Loompa-level orangeness right there.

  • 1964edithgrove

It’s knee length and her boobs are covered, so I’m giving her the rest.

    • MoHub

And it’s not shiny. I’d also say it’s more body skimming than Heidi’s usual level of tightness.

Maybe this is a Heidi impersonator.

  • Rand Ortega

    Well, she’s covered.

  • teensmom99

Believe it or not, I have a similar dress. It is leopard skin and multi colored but not as tight (but definitely low cut), no buckles on the side. When the woman who owns my favorite boutique brought it to me, I thought she was kidding but I tried it on and felt like me in a way that I didn’t in other dresses. Never thought I was a Heidi but maybe I am.

    • formerlyAnon

If it makes you feel fabulous and an extra 6 inches tall and puts a bit of strut into your walk: WEAR IT. (Wear it lower case if it only achieves 1.5 of the above.) Don’t second guess.

      • teensmom99

Thanks for the vote of confidence. That is how I feel!

  • MarTeaNi

I am never going to get behind acid-washed neon leopard print.

  • Danielle L

  • Surely someone needs to be shot out of a cannon for that fake tan disaster.

  • unbornfawn

jesus christ on a stick how much spray tan did she apply to herself?

  • decormaven

The spray tan gun must have been set on stun. Wowza! I do like her rings, but not that black nail polish. The dress is just more of the same from Ms. Tight N Shiny.

  • ampg

My goodness, it’s so long! I feel like I can only recognize Heidi by her upper thighs…good thing the captions were there to help me out.

  • Miss wks

    what about the dyed-to-match…..HAIR??

  • Anniebet

I know she’s been on vacation in the sun, but since when do real tans come in that color? Oh… never? Anyhow, this is “covered up Heidi”. It could just as easily been “super short, cleavage baring Heidi”. The woman knows what she likes and looks great in it.

  • Tracy_Flick

    I want those shoes.

  • Elena

    So… much… fake bake…

  • elemspbee

hey look, we have a preview of what her skin will morph into in a few years! looks good.

  • snarkykitten

Is her skin orange in mourning of PR being sans the Dutchess?

  • largishbearishAtlish

remember the woman who had seizures from Mary Harts voice? I think I might have seizures if I see that ‘heidi bad spray tan orange’ color again…oh that twitching the twitching! Could Ms Kors whip up some long sleeved/legged gowns for a week til that grows off? or a good luffa-ing?

people NEED jobs, GAYS need jobs…how hard is it for her to hire a few extra ‘tanning squirting minions’ Heidi? or some decent gays (and it would look fabulous on a resume’! “Miss Heidi’s spray tan color matcher’…

  • Trisha26

She looks pretty, the best hair & makeup I’ve seen in a while from her. The dress and shoes are hein – but at least it’s not sparkly and/or slit to the hoo-hoo.

  • jmorino08

Maybe change the setting in your self-tanner to something less severe than Oompa Loompa, though…

  • NoveltyRocker

Very “Housewives.” There’s just too much. I want to cut the sleeves off and remove the buckles.

  • AnnaleighBelle

RE: the tan and hair color….

I can only imagine that celebrities really do live in a different atmosphere, where things that normal people think are not attractive are the height of beauty. Or it’s a case of, “ooh, I look so good with this spray tan/blonde hair/plumped lips that I’ll look even better tanner/blonder/plumper” until it goes into cartoon land.

  • E. D.

That skirt is awfully long considering it’s a) Versace and b) on Heidi.

  • ChiKat67

    1. She looks like an Oompa Loompa
    2. The blocking on that dress makes her look thick in the midsection
    3. In one of the photos she (almost) looks like Rachel Zoe and that is NOTa compliment.

  • quiltrx

I’m certain I will get a migraine if I spend more than ten seconds looking at the pattern of the dress, her orange skin, and the red carpet all together. Just now, it sort of made my head cramp.

  • poggi

Thanks to Hiedi for demonstrating the t-strap platforms make your feet look huge.

  • kirkyo

My only complaint is that the side hardware seems completely unnecessary and cheapens it. But hey it’s not short.

  • Lucie

As I scrolled down, I thought that would be shorter, so props for something?

  • Qitkat

Project Runway contestant stealthily returns uncut fabric to the Mood remnants bin due to a “bleaching accident.”
Third tier design monkey from Versace unwittingly chooses fabric for last minute Heidi dress order.
Pandemonium ensues in the atelier. Someone invokes the spirit of Tim Gunn, and makes it work.
Heidi is none the wiser, and goes on stage, delighted with her “one of a kind” designer dress.
Uncles T and Lo feature her on their blog, as she knew they would. Bitter Kittens giggle and snark, Of Course.

  • spooki C

    #CC6600 lol

  • The dress is hideous, but she is working it well.

  • crash1212

Not loving the dress, but it is totally her. I LOVE the rings.

  • LaSylphide

Love the shoes. T-straps can be horribly unflattering, but they look great on her. Hair, makeup and jewelry, all terrific. The less said about the dress the better.

  • Jane Dough

I think that dress would look way better on an edgy brunette with a punky vibe.

    • Dagney

Agree. I’m thinking pack that dress up and send it to Gwen Stefani.

      • Jane Dough

  • Dagney

It is possible to don too much bronzer.

  • Dagney

I just looked at the photo again. My lord. She is orange. I mean, that woman is Crayola-fucking-orange.

  • bertkeeter

Love everthing…only wish the heels were less heavy looking….more strappy would werg! Darn she looks happy! 🙂

  • MannahattaMamma

She is a vision in shades of yellow: hair, skin, dress…yikes. It’s a sort of ombre chartreuse thing…

  • Jacqueline Wessel

This is really covered up for her. The dress comes to her knee, the sleeves are long and the neckline is high, and yet she’s still got that sexy Heidi thing going on. You go, girl!

  • I don’t mind the dress – minus the tacked on strap/buckle things. What’s really bad here is fake-n-bake orange tan she’s got going on. Why Heidi, why? I feel like it makes her (usually gorgeous) hair look incredibly brassy. Yikes.

    • desi_girl

I was hoping someone besides me would say this. I suspect she realized that she’s turned orange and decided to cover up as much as she could. But, since she’s Heidi, there’s only that much that she can cover up.

  • cowper

A dress deliberately designed to highlight your burgeoning new fetus? Otherwise, why draw attention to that area?

  • formerlyAnon

I think that, averaged out, her hemlines have been coming down. Well done Ms. Klum.

But nothing will save that unbelievably ugly dress. I mean, there is NO ONE IN THE UNIVERSE who couldn’t find a better dress in the average mid-range mall (the kind of mall that *might* have a Macy’s as the premier anchor store. No Nordstrom’s, that’s for sure.).

    It’s really, really awful.

  • formerlyAnon

I can’t resist. I looked at those photos again, and I am compelled to say: All her taste is in her mouth, isn’t it?

(I can’t remember reacting so strongly to one of her ensembles in quite a while.)

  • LuisaNL

I actually like her dress, it’s totally Heidi, and looks great on her. The fake orange tan, not so much. And I don’t much care for the shoes either.

  • Maybe I’m too old to appreciate tight clothes as true fashion. I remember thin models who were flat chested, and fashion-forward clothes looked best on them–even before anorexia. Think of Vogue in the days of Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy. They had beautiful faces. From my point of view, women like J. Lo., Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and even Heidi Klum have dragged fashion down a few pegs. So has the plastic surgery industry that has created what I call the female “boobs on a stick.” I don’t like the emphasis on tight clothes. Heidi knows what fashion is and what it isn’t, and she still clings to showing off her body. I’d like to see her focus more on her beautiful face.

This dress is nothing special. The fabric changes color. That would be more interesting if the colors looked good on Heidi but they don’t. Those side buckles look as though they were added as an after thought.

Heidi could take some guidance from Charlize Theron. I’m trying to think of someone else fashionable with a hot bod. I think a blunt haircut would look great on Heidi. She could use some new style.

  • Sunraya

What did she do to her eye? They are unusually wide. I hope she doesn’t start with the plastic surgery.

  • marlie

This is downright demure for Heidi. There’s no boobs, the hem isn’t just under her butt cheeks; I’d say that this one is a success (on the Heidi Scale).

  • janierainie

When I see her in a tacky dress like this, I can’t help remembering how she dissed Jay Macarroll’s dress on that short series he did after project runway. She asked him to make a dress for the emmy’s or some other red carpet thing, and then didn’t wear it. It was beautiful and she made him cry. That orange tan is ridiculous.

  • Diego!

    OMG… MY EYES!!!!

  • Shawn EH

    Loving all the black/onyx/jet accessories.

  • Lola Channing

She looks like the receptionist in a tanning/fitness studio combo in Magdeburg, East Germany.

  • getting some major wax-figure vibes…
