Hayley Atwell in Julien MacDonald at “The World’s End” Premiere

Posted on July 11, 2013

WOW. Looks like someone said “To HELL with all this ladylike shit! Mama’s going full-on CHER tonight, bitches!”

Hayley Atwell attends the world premiere of “The World’s End” in London in a Julien MacDonald dress.

Julien MacDonald Fall 2013 Collection

She looks …. scaley. In fact, despite our Big Gay Love for all things beaded and sequined,  we’re pretty sure we hate the dress because it makes her look like she’s attending the Na’vi Oscars or something.  Also, we’re getting Mystique from the X-Men films crossed with Ann Margret and while all of that sounds like fun on paper in a drag sort of way, the reality is a bit much. Besides, if you’re gonna cross over into Bob Mackie land, shouldn’t you have big hair and dramatic eye makeup? Not really the time for an underplayed face, unless she figured no one would be looking at her face that night.

Yeah, I can see the Mystique vibe for sure. This looks like something she’d sport for a fancy night on the town.

      • NinaBoo

The sequins look like bacteria rods to me. She needs antibiotics fast.

      • styrch

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking.

        • drdarke

          Mystique Gets Busy!

Sad, because that outfit should work – but doesn’t.

    • nannypoo

Well, this is a surprising choice.

    • SewingSiren

      Icky panty grin through.

      • MGMcD

It took me a minute. Then I guffawed.

        • Danielle L

Scrolled back up, shouted with laughter.

      • rougeort

Ew. I didn’t notice it the first time around, but come ON. With a dress this complex she makes such a simple mistake? I am annoyed. Otherwise, I kind of like this, but I don’t think it’s right for her. Those earrings are pretty tragic and I don’t like her makeup. Send this one to JLo, honey.

    • MilaXX

Yeah, not loving this. She’s all body and then she’s wholesome from the neck up.

    • Guest

I will say this: I miss when my breasts did that.

    • hughman

      Worst. Ant farm. Ever.

    • Pennymac

Pic #3 side shot really shows off her amazing figure. But that dress is all kinds of horrible

      • kimmeister

Talk about va-va-voom. Meanwhile, us flat-chested gals have to work so hard to keep our bellies from sticking out more than our chests, pfffft.

    • Artesian_Belle

Maybe because of how the model is styled, but I see Kristen Stewart wearing this dress. Prim and proper above the neck was not the way to go.
      .

      • Aurumgirl

I don’t think anyone can get away with this dress. This dress says, “My stylist loathes me.”

    • MGMcD

I kind of love the dress, and I’d throttle a small child if it would get my ta-tas to look like that, but I think it’s on the wrong person. I think I want this on rachel weisz during one of her vampier moments or Kristen Stewart on a day she decides to wash her hair and give a damn.

“Mystique crossed with Ann Margret” There are some things uniquely and magically TLo. This is one of them.

    • Betsy

My first thought was that her hair and make-up say: “I put the kids in bed, threw on this dress, and came out for the evening. No time or energy to do anything with my hair or face.” And that’s NOT a good look if you’re a lady diva at a movie premier shindig. (Also, you can see through all SORTs of areas of that dress. Not so good.)

    • AlisonS

So not full on Cher. More like raided her closet to play dress-up?

    • JauntyJohn

Clearly Ms. Atwell has a stunning figure, so I think that my main problem with this dress is that the cutout stops too high, making the whole lower torso area too long, invoking the granny panty when it isn’t even there. I think the only woman who could pull off the granny panty line was Esther Williams (god rest her soul).

If she were my friend, I’d congratulate her on her tits and quietly help her find something more suitable. I doubt this was the impact she was trying to make.

    • Little_Olive

      Tacky dress.

      Is she Geena Davis’ daughter?

    • Kristin McNamara

I wonder how big of a step she can take with that thing on. I feel like the bottom of the skirt would rip if her strides were more than a foot apart. How annoying that’d be!

    • StellaZafella

Body: Headed to the Copacabana…Face and hair: Headed to the grocery store.

    • lolawants

My biggest complaint is that she didn’t commit to the look. Leave it to the Chers and Katys, in that case.

    • NoveltyRocker

Her boobies (albeit awesome) look like disco balls.

    • formerlyAnon

Overall, I wonder if it might not have looked significantly different (better) in person. That looks like a problematic dress to photograph.

Otherwise, agree on the makeup fail and my least favorite view is the front above the waist, looking as it does (to me) like a sexy snake/woman costume in a cheesy revue.

    • PastryGoddess

      face…what face?

    • kittenwithaquip

She’s a beautiful woman, with a great body, but that dress gives her a weird muffin top look. Her hips look really narrow compared to her lower abs. Not a flattering look at all.

      • LizAbear

Bad shapewear/underwear. She obviously has a rocking bod, but something under that dress is slightly too tight. If she were going comando, I don’t think we’d see this issue.

    • Just Me

Pack this dress up and send it to JLo, honey. Because, well, you are obviously not enough of a bitchy diva to pull this off…don’t feel bad…neither am I.

    • TSkot

      Definitely not her dress.

    • kimiakay

I agree. Girl, that is not your dress. And I think, when your dress is sparkly your face needs to sparkle at least a little. Not to mention, I don’t think pearls in earrings and the ring work here either. Sparkly sparkly. But don’t feel bad, the dress looks horrible on the model. I think it’s just the dress.

    • quiltrx

I feel this dress requires a big, overblown headpiece for balance.
And I also feel this dress would be itchy somehow.

    • veleri

exactly: the face does not match the dress. That’s what’s going on. It does not work.

(or maybe is it really supposed to work? I mean, look at the face of the model on the runway… ugh)

    • http://victoriapavlova.com Victoria Pavlova

the styling of the dress on the model says Kristen Stewart to me. She would’ve rocked it

    • Not applicable

OK- once again– No idea who this is… or why she’s ‘famous’…

    • Tatiana Luján

I would have liked this gown a lot if the underboob wasn’t visible.

    • decormaven

Aww, hon, if you’re going to go for the dramatic dress, you have to go for the dramatic hair and makeup. Watch the replay film and come back with a more coherent strategy.

    • Garcia Loca

Hailey is a pretty girl with a bangin’ bod, but this ain’t her dress. This is JLo’s dress.

    • marlie

I would love this if the dress fit her better (especially around the hips/waist) and the girls had more support.

    • P B

      Looking at her what now?

    • Jessica Freeman

I mean, if you’re going to wear the drag dress, by all means, do your fucking make up.

    • jmorino08

Sh does not have the chops to pull this off I’m afraid.

    • ErmengardeGreen

This dress is for Blake Lively.
